Syd and Ryan are back from America and only a couple kilograms heavier! In this episode we talk about some of our experiences at Anime Expo and outside of it in Los Angeles. We then talk about the newest Gundams […]
This Macross kit looks interesting. Cannot wait for Iron Blood orphan season 2.
Can you guys compare the old 1/72 Macross kits in 2010 with this new one?
Really impressed at how the transformation gimmick held up in the Macross kit. I would love to see Bandai release more complicated kits like these to showcase their engineering.
Great episode guys!
Very noticeable you had some time off and had a blast over in the US!!!
Except for that poor Todd, tricking him into building that always up to no good Siegfried 😉
Or should we cal him the Cesar, don’t know why 😀
Maybe a good title for a movie: Planet of the Macros LOL
Love the design of Macross Delta kits. I was looking through HLJ store and noticed that Tomy Tech is producing some Macross Delta kits at 1/144 scale; in particular, there is a set termed as 2 mode set. (http://hlj.com/product/TMT28015/Sci). What does “2 mode set” actually refers to? Robot and plane mode? Or Robot and Gerwalk? OR Gerwalk and Plane mode only?
Welcome back, guys. Of the new kits I may look into the Scramble and Shia Qan[t]. The Barbatos Lupus is most likely for season 2 what the original kit is to season 1, so I’m hoping for the mid-season upgrade to be something in line with the 6th form. If I did get a Lupus I’d also likely get the option kit with the mini-maces and auto-canons.
Good to see you guys made it back safe and sound. Hopefully you’ll come to New Zealand Comicon next year and give the gift of reasonably priced Gunpla 🙂
I hope you guys had a fun time at the Anime Expo! I’ve been waiting patiently for the next episode of Gunpla TV, so it feels so good to see it up. I’ve seen the picture of Syd’s fast food on Facebook so many times that I had to go to McDonalds myself and pick up an Ebi burger, I enjoyed it.
Don’t you mean “Hi-Nu people” Syd?( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I’m really hyped for the Barbatos Lupus, it’s probably my new favorite Barbatos form, he looks even more like a knight in this form, and his red shoulderpads look awesome. The turquoise Graze is my new favorite Graze as well, as the new bulky design is awesome, I love them Ground type feet and I love the color turquoise, so he is going to be greeted with wide arms as well. Type A is obviously an upgraded Rebake. It looks a lot more bulkier, and that’s more fitting for the Gusion, but I sorta preferred the old Rebake more. The Hostile Mobile suit is unique to say the least, I like his head and torso, but the weird design of the limbs and their size turn me off, he reminds me of a hobbit/gnome, which isn’t my cup of tea.
I am HYPED for the new BF OVA and all the kits. I’m definitely getting all of the new releases besides the Beargguy, could never get into that MS. But everything else looks absolutely awesome, and I love all of their designs.
The new Gundam Local Type is something I am highly interested in. I always loved the Gundam Ground Type, and it’s clear that they’re related somehow. I love the visor, and am probably going to get it as well. The 1/100 Kimaris Trooper is cool too, but I think i’m going to get the HG instead. The Petit’gguys are meh, they’re recolors, but I was never a big fan of Beargguys, so that’s something.
I’ve really, really been looking forward to the Siegfried’s review, because I think this may be my first Macross kit. Just by design alone, the Siegfriend Hayate Custom has already become my favorite Macross. Blue has always been my favorite color, and I love the sleek/angular design of the Siegfried. I also always had a knack for transforming things, be it complex and difficult MG transformations, or simple HG partsformations. Since the Macross is even more complex than a transforming MG, I think this will be a nice challenge. The stickers look like a living nightmare though, and is probably what is keeping me from pouncing on the kit, but honestly for a kit that has so many colors and already has a complex build to be able to transform into 3 modes, it’s completely understandable…and Todd…for the antenna…
there’s something called Tamiya thin cement, and a small copper peg. <3
I think this is going to be it when the time comes, i'm getting this as my first Macross kit hands down. It may be a nightmare to transform, have tones of falling parts, and is as fragile as an RG, but hey, all transforming Macross kits are as well, and this guy looks good. I'm definitely going to get an action base for him though, i'd be insane not too. I wonder if I would do a review of it when I get it, as I do Gunpla reviews after being inspired by Syd's Gaijin Gunpla blog, but this guy is going to be a nightmare to learn, take pictures of, and write about. XP
I think I did my Top gear phrase wrong, and i'm going to come clean and say I have no idea what that phrase is about and decided to wing it. But to be honest I don't mind very much, i'll be waiting for your next episode!
You are correct. If you take a look at the model number of the Local type you’ll see its RX-78-01. The RX-78-01 was developed into the RX-78-2 and RX-79 (Ground type), so you could say it’s a prototype of it.
In a way true. But if I remember, the RX-78-2 Gundam was developed from the RX-78-1 Prototype Gundam, so which came first? The RX-78-01? or the RX-78-1
I was very excited about the prospect of getting a Macross kit that transforms, but after seeing how fragile it is I’m now on the fence about getting one.
finally you guys are back!!! everyday i get on i look to see if there’s a new video and today is the day lol, can’t wait to see all the new things you guys will be bringing out after the expo!
Nice new Macross kits but since I paint them I’ll wait for future Hasegawa releases. Bandai Macross kits aren’t really meant to be painted since you’ll get lots of scratches and paint coming off when you transform them from one mode to another, true experience.
I see that many many of the new HG kits come with peg style hands now instead of proper trigger fingers. Do the 1/144 builders parts hands fit all the IBO and new HG kits? does the hand armor snap into them properly? Can you guys test them out? I’m interested in buying some since it looks like the hyaku shiki revive won’t have trigger finger hands
After reading this comment, I managed to dig up that part. Are you planning to get the EFSF or the Zeon 1/144 builders parts hands? I have only got EFSF version; therefore, I can only comment on that one.
Overall, the hands work for your HG. On the runner, you are given two different ball joint options. The larger one fits most recent HG kits i.e. Unicorn Gundam, GM II, etc while, the smaller ball joint is better for HG revive series and IBO i.e. Wing Gundam and Gundam Barbatos. Not using the given hand armor from this kit gives have various results. You will have to modify the armor part slightly to get it to fit.
Welcome back as it has been too long. In regards to the new Barbatos, the design is great and perhaps the name Lupus is foreshadowing some events of season 2. Lupus is a chronic inflammatory disease that occurs when your body’s immune system attacks your own tissues and organs, so maybe Tekkadan will fight their own comrades from the last season. Who knows, but it will make an interesting plot. Lastly, I can see someone custom building that new Bearguy into a Sailor Moon or the other Sailor Scouts.
The fact that you decided to give away a third kit is just another example of why i keep coming back this channel/website because of my love for gunpla. You guys are the best, supplying us with information on the new gunpla to giveaways. Thanks!
I really like the Macross kit. Its so cool that it “Blue” me away XD Honestly this is just “Plane” awesome! Anyways, good job guys; keep up the good work ^_^
I ve built few of this kits. to be truth its not an easy kit. The instruction quite hard and the transformation is very difficult especially the full armor messiah because of all the armament. But its an injection kit. Its not suppose to be play but to display with proud. End result Bandai realy did a good job with macross kits but perhaps they would make the transformation a bit easier.
It was great seeing you guys at the Anime expo. I am still sad I missed out on buying that shadow fox from zoids. Unfortunately it is backordered right now but when it is available I will buy one.
I am now a fan of this channel. Looking forward to the next video and have a great week.
Thanks for this episode guys! My brother (who builds Macross kits) will probably start building his Siegfried kit soon after he watches this episode. Considering that the Macross kit does not come with an action base, can I give him one of my spare Gunpla action base 2 or does it have to be a Macross specific display stand? The one Todd used looked similar to the action base 2 but I don’t recall seeing that adapter. Thanks again all at HLJ!
I have seen other modellers handle it much better in youtube, whatching this make me feel afraid of the one I have in my private warehouse. this does not look enjoyable at all.
Hi rrobbert184, two Rs two Bs. In the off chance that you are able to read this, I just wanted to say thanks. You were the reason why I picked up gunpla as a hobby. It has now been 5 years and man I gotta tell you I still enjoy it. It really helped me out a lot to take my mind off of things and to just sit back and relax. There’s almost a zen vibe when building kits you know? Anyways, see you around
We’ve crammed a lot of stuff into the episode prior to our departure for LA’s Anime Expo 2016. We show some cool Star Wars stuff, show the latest HG kits, and even do a live double build of the new Figure-rise […]
“i was made for gunpla baby” 😉 love the artfx but its a bit to spendy for me but i cant wait to see the footage from the expo they are always my favorite episodes to watch
A friendly reminder to the almighty random number generator. I’ve got a pending order with HLJ. What about adding a guncannon or barbatos and save on shipping 🙂
hmm… i don’t think i like the way they did the Force Impulse’s shield transformation… i’d feel like i’ll break it lol anyway, great to see one more episode before you guys head out to anime expo and we’ll be here waiting, possibly having withdrawal symptoms from the long break from Gunpla TV.
meanwhile, we’ll hand over the show to our tame gunpla builder:
Some say he can use the beads of sweat dripping from his forehead when building gunpla as plastic cement. And that he can make a life-size version of any scale model kits just by staring at one for 123 days non-stop while sipping coffee from his Gundam Front Tokyo mug and listening to Poker Face, the first of which we know as the 1:1 statue in Odaiba. All we know is, he’s called The Todd!
some say he was born when a molding kit got struck by lighting .
other say he was bit by a radioactive nipper
one thing is for sure that he is named …. the TOD .
…
Barbatos for the win 😀
It would be great to win those guncannons or barbatos , just like the HG buster gundams :P, I can’t wait to start my PG unicorn any tips and advice when i’m building the unicorns? always a great show ryan, syd and todd keep up the good work 🙂
I’m writing this before Anime Expo but you’ll be reading this after. I’m looking forward to seeing you guys again. Here’s hoping I didn’t make an ass of myself.
It amazes me how many ‘some say…’ comments Todd is getting now. But how does the man himself feel about them? I can imagine him saying “I’m just a guy who loves gunpla and cuts the pieces off the sprue one at a time, just like all of you.”
I just raffled off coupons for a Gundam Revive and an HG Barbatos at my Toastmasters club. Guys, it would be awesome if you and the RNG would see fit to send a Barbatos my way — then again, it’s already assembled, isn’t it?
Reading up on the 72 demons the gundam from IBO are named for, I’m amazed how many of them are described as being helpful and teach the summoner stuff. Barbatos, Gusion, and Kimaris are all pretty powerful. Still can’t get a handle on Astaroth though.
Some say he builds a Gyan as soon as he wakes up, others say that he builds a bazooka every night before he goes to bed. All we know is he’s called the Todd!
I’ve been loving gundam since I was a kid, and would love to win barbatos even though it’s unlikely. Don’t have many gunpla due to where I live in ireland, but would love anything regardless
Some say he can build gunpla blindfolded with his hands tied behind his back, and that he built his first kit years before he was born. All we know is, he’s called The Todd!
FA unicorn look sick but unfortunately don’t have the money to purchase such kit but thanks to you guys i’m able to see such kit being build and it really have some kind of good feeling inside kudos to you guys//…….please givev me some kitsss LET ME WIN
Okay Gundam, where did Ryan touch you? *Gundam points to rear thruster nozzle* *all in attendance gasp in horror*
Some people say he was found as a young boy and raised by Meijin Kawaguchi,
others say his collection of Gunpla will one day amass and take over HLJ. All we know for sure is he is called The Todd.
Dear HLJ,
Thank you for the always awesome reviews. I recently walked into a video game shop that sells Gunpla and they were selling the Standard Graze and the Graze Ein for the same price and the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam [Destroy Mode] + Head Display Base. I couldn’t make up my mind, but I started to hear Syd whispering, “Ein! Ein! Ein!” into my ear and I just had to buy the Ein. Thank you so much for helping me with my decision and I hope to see more reviews in the future!
GunplaTV is here again and back with more stuff! So let me get absorbed in another great episode once again! :3
The Kotobukiya Star Wars figures look really awesome! They aren’t kits, but they are still really good looking and would look really nice on a shelf! I love the minor weathering on the Astromechs, they add quite nice realism to the figures. My favourite part of the set though, has to be C-3P0’s slightly dulled, yet gloriously shiny gold finish. It reminds me of the Hyaku Shiki, and looks really good on C-3P0 as well. Kylo Ren looks quite cool too, although he will never be a true replacement for Darth Vader, I honestly find his character more like a whiny kid than a menacing, intimidating leader like I thought he would be. The new macross kit definitely peaks my interest, I like it’s sleek, sharp design and the blue is awesome! But well…blue is my favourite color, so that’s a factor. If only they were to scale with Gundam…that decal sheet is really scary though, clear stickers for me! This kit itself may actually convince me to watch the anime as well. I’m actually curious why Ryan would know such a personal fact of Todd…Ryan? Explaination please?
I love Todd’s serious face that he was doing before you notified him that they were up, he just looks so nervous, but at the same time he looked so intimidating. XD
The Figur-rise busts are interesting, and the engineering used to create them is indeed impressive. However, I just don’t see me paying the price of an HG for one, and the original concept doesn’t really interest me all that much, the Chara Stand plates is what I personally prefer, although the regular old-fashioned action base is what I like the most due to it being the most practical, simple and effective. I still hope we get Chara Stand plates for characters outside of IBO though, a Char plate would be awesome! On screen builds are cool though, so i’m glad you did one with these, and with Todd as well! 😀
I don’t see a reason why we shouldn’t weather the busts. We should give them a gunk wash, panel lines, extra decals and a matte coat while we’re at it! o/
The FA Unicorn would be a cool thing to get with the RG Sinanju, as I stick to my previous theory that this release was Bandai trying to make up for not being able to make an RG Unicorn, hence a repeated release with more weapons, a different psychoframe color, and RG style decals. Not complaining though, more Gunpla is always good, but when will Bandai make an HG Shokew is my true question. Todd shouldn’t be complaining though, Fully Armored MS and bazookas means more weapons, more weapons means more building, and more building means more fun with Gunpla! Hooray!
Wait, Todd shares my theory as well?! We are long lost brothers Todd-senpai. (ಠ_ಠ)
The HGCE Force Impulse is definitely the release I was really waiting for. I’m currently saving up for the P-Bandai Blast Impulse. I love the Impulse Gundam very much, and the fact that i’m such a fan of Lunamaria (not as much for Shinn, but he’s cool too) just adds to the Impulse’s appeal to me. The splitting gimmick is some really nice, yet simple engineering, so kudos to Bandai there, but the unpainted core splendor and force silhouette cockpit look quite bad though, and definitely needs some work. The fact that Bandai advertises the painted product is a peeve of mine as well, so you’re not alone there. It seems like Bandai has only been giving us a single pair of hands, on recent HG’s. I assume the reason is to save plastic, and therefore costs, but open hands are a useful option to have, so I hope Bandai wakes up on that. The fact that the kit balances well, even with the Force Silhouette pack is really cool though! That’s definitely going to help with the action poses.
My friend gave me an HGUC ReZEL which is currently watching Gunpla TV while cheering you guys on right next to me on my desk, and an HG00 00 Gundam Seven Swords/G for my birthday. I knew there was something suspicious when he wanted to use my HLJ account for the 5% coupon I had. He had also bought a HG 1/100 Heavyarms Kai EW, but sadly, it hasn’t been in stock yet. I also picked up a Revoltech Vox Aura while the kits were in the private warehouse as it was insanely cheap. It’s a good figure to anyone who is reading, it may have some paint inconsistencies, but it’s a small figure, so they aren’t terribly noticable. It articulates extremely well too, and has a really sleek and curvy design, I highly recommend the figure to any mecha fan, and I also highly recommend the Anime for anyone that’s interested. I’m about halfway through it, and i’m quite enjoying it so far! 😀
You’re telling me to do one for Todd, but i’m going to come up with one for all 3 of you just because I can. Who knows? Maybe my 3 senpai’s will notice me.
For Syd:
Some say he’s a lightning fast builder, and that he can build kits even in the wild, with nothing but his teeth and hands. All we know, is that he’s got a lucky job and should enjoy it as much as possible.
For Ryan:
Some say he’s a macross purist, others say that he needs his kits to be big, fun with tones of gimmicks for extra enjoyment. All we know, is that he shouldn’t paint on the runner. Ever again.
For Todd:
Some say he brings his modelling tools wherever he roams, and that he always cleans nubmarks on his kit. All we know, is that he always has a convenient lightsaber in arms-length reach, in case he needs to duel Syd anytime at the warehouse.
Show me the Guns, you dismal knight!!!!!
Some say he has a foot fetish for flats than heels.Others, say he’s just attracted to big guns. One thing is certain, his name is Todd.
Sid, Ryan, Todd and the rest; thankyou so much for bringing so many great Gundpla TV videos to Youtube and also opening myself up to other kits I wasn’t aware of (like Star Wars and Macross). I would definitely buy off you IF ONLY you had a store in the UK as tarrifs are quite high when it comes to paying shipping… However! That doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy your videos, I like them alot! Sometimes I even find quite a few laughs out of you guys 🙂 not to mention how awesome you guys are for going to the trouble to go to events like Gundam Expo to document the experience for people like myself who cannot afford to go to conventions like those.
Some say he is actual the prototype for the next grade of Bandai kits and his joints are nothing more than wobbly polycaps…all we know is that he is called The Todd.
HGUC Dom/Rick Dom kit is still a great kit. It stands great even next to the Orgin Proto Dom. But the rest of the Dom kits (Troopen, Rick Dom II and so on ) definitely would need a revive treatment.
Some say he recites all 43 eps of MS Gundam in his sleep each night, and that he`s able to use his nippers to eat…soup. All we know is, he`s called The Todd.
Guncannon is the only MS of the V project that I don’t have! It’s strange because I like it a lot. But with all these new awesome ms the old ones are often the “second choice”.
I feel I will win this time because I love Guncannon (and Barbatos was very good too)!
Some say that he has a vast amount of knowledge on all Gundam series, and that he is planning to overthrow Syd’s role in Gunpla TV. All we know is, he’s called The Todd.
Some say he eats Ramen noodles with a set of nippers and a hobby knife. Some say he cuts parts off the runner so well he doesn’t need to clean the nubs- even on plated kits. Some say he took down more that 209 zeon pilots during the one year war. All we know is his name is Todd.
Some say he perfected his art of model building after years of intense training under the Grand Master of Gunpla, Katsumi Kawaguchi. Other knows him as the new guy on HobbyLink TV. Master of the nippers and encyclopedia of Gundam lore. All we know is, he’s called Todd.
Another great video guys, love those busts.
Some say he is an android that was built and programmed to slowly put Syd out of a job,and some say is is the love child of Master Kawaguchi and a Beargguy, all we know is he’s called the Todd.2000.
Great to see the unboxing of that VF31J I just ordered one from you guys, its my first adventure outside of gunpla hopefully my experience from building the PG unicorn and MG phenex help me not break it.
Awesome episode as always – I’m currently saving up to grab that gorgeous Victory Gundam Ver Ka and a HG Danazine from you guys… Not exactly a favourite design for a lot of people, but I think that a green, futuristic mecha dragon is too good to pass up.
Some say he can cut off plastic with 0 nub marks while using the wrong ends of his nippers, others say he built the 1:1 Scale Gundam in a day and called it a ‘scratch build’. All we know is he’s called ‘The Todd’.
Some say that He is a fugitive for manslaughter a man for leaving a nub mark ,and that He banned from flying planes by FAA due to his high plastic blood levels … All we know he’s called the TODD
Great show guys. I have the Kotobukia Nightwing and Robin they also have the magnetic bases and i thought it was amazing, good to see they still have it. I bought a barbatos 6th form realized he only had the wrench mace thingy so i got the first Barbatos as well, now if i win he’ll have 2 maces mwahaha. Random Number Generator you have failed me for the last time.
I love seed/destiny… I’m sad that the blast impulse is p-bandai but I pre-ordered it anyway because its from seed/destiny… the con of it being p-bandai is sometimes I like buying multiples of the same kit… but p-bandai kits are a little bit expensive and limited release which make me sadder.
Some say he has an gang of Gyans he built himself that he has dubbed “The Gyang”. Others say he fought Darth Sid in a parking lot, an event that was ignored by two women who were present at the time, and didn’t get a copyright claim from Disney. All we do know is that he is called ‘Todd’.
Hoping that a Sword Impulse will be on the way soon. Been wanting the MG but there are so many nice MG’s at the same price range that I want more. The hg Impulse looks really good so hoping Sword will come out and be just as nice.
That’s a great episode! Have a safe trip guys! and enjoy! Don’t forget to share us all what happened in the Anime Expo. Can’t wait for that episode to be up!
Maybe one of these days you guys could come to Florida? We have conventions here too! The Gunpla sellers at my local cons are always way overpriced (most of the kits were $13-$40 above HLJ’s prices) and not very fun to talk to, so I think Florida cons could use more people like you!
Some say that he was born in California, North America and that he learnt how to use a pair of nippers and sanding sticks before he can use a knife and fork, and that his first word was Gunpla. Others say that he was made as a 1:1 P-Bandai exclusive in Shizuoka, Japan and that his inner frame is comparable to that of the Astray Red Frame. All we know is that he is called the Todd.
Some say he builds only Gundam kits at home. Others say he packs only Gundam kits to ship to customers at work. All we know for sure that he is called “The Todd”.
Long time no see/comment.
If you recall, I came by and visited you guys at the HLJ HQ three years ago.
A lot has happened to me since then and I fell off the Gunpla TV wagon for a couple years. I just finished going back to watch all the episodes I missed from late 2014 up to the present episode. I’m kicking myself for missing out on all those chances at the cool giveaways you had.
Anyway, I’m back into gunpla and kit build now in a big way thanks to you guys. I dugout some 90’s no grade models kits that have been in my closet for YEARS and started putting them together. Even an old Patlabor Helldiver kit. Then I bought a bunch of RG kits from a local store that was having a hugh sale. RX-78-2, Zaku II, Char’s Zaku II, Zeta Gundam, and RG RX-178 Gundam Mk-II Titans & AEUG. Plus, two MEGA SIZE kits, RX-78-2 and Char’s Zaku II.
BUT, even better! I also made my VERY FIRST purchase from HLJ.com when I pre-ordered the RG MSN-06S Sinanju!
I would have loved to have come seen you guys at comic con, but that is not possible since I am saving up for my visit to Japan in November. I’d like to come by and see you guys again and this time buy some kits while I am there. 🙂
Keep up the great work guys!
Oh, and Tod also.
Some say he’s the love child of Amuro and Sayla. All we know is that he’s the Stod.
We’re back with more Plamo for you! Todd shows off a Thunderbolt HG kit for the second week in a row and Syd talks about the new Graze Kai from Iron-Blooded Orphans, and what it can do.
“Some say he built his first kit when he was still in the womb, others say he once built a PG, cutting with only a butter knife. All we know is; he’s called The Todd.”
Hey guys, great episode as usual! I was wondering what you are expecting regarding the MG Psycho Zaku. Do you think it will come with a stand for the massive backpack and/or gold plated thrusters? Personally I’m really excited to see what Bandai does as it’s a kit high up on my wishlist.
I must admit that I don’t like the Amazing Red Warrior at all! Not even in the anime. If I win it I will change everything of it! The Hyakushiki instead is a piece of art.
I would already leave a comment anyway but MG Hyaku Shiki? I want it so bad lol. Great episode as usual guys. Looking forward to seeing the new Full Armor HG Unicorn built for 209. Let’s see if Tod gets all those decals on. Also excited for the Force Impulse to go with my HG Freedom. Keep up the Super work guys.
I have to admit, I do dislike HLJ right now for starting the sale right after I got a lot of kits, which are now stuck in backlog hell, and then rubbing salt in my wounds by absolutely forcing me to get a couple more and a Beyblade.
That being said, random number generator pls gib robit.
Awesome episode, the Hyaku Shiki 2.0 and Amazing Red Warrior Master Grades are gorgeous! Can’t wait for the Full Armor Gundam Ver Ka to come out, but very scared for what’s going to happen to my wallet after all these sales and then that monster’s release. H Y P E
Can I just please have both!!! Oh man I’ve been eyeing both the amazing red and the 2.0 I’ll be happy with either or but I’m leaning more toward the hyakushiki!
Got some Mechatro We Go on that sale. There were D-styles that I wanted but got wiped out before I got an order in. Also I don’t know what sort of deals you have with Bandai with those promotional posters but do they forbid you from giving them away?
Sweet, 1/100 graze kai looks bad ass , specifically with that giant sword and bazooka! Looking foward to that hyaku shiki, you cant go wrong with da gold!
Random Number Generator gods! Here my plea! Let me win! (also props for Ryan,Syd,& Todd for another AMAZING show. Gunpla is freedom, worth greater than GOLD)
Man, I wish I could meet you guys. Working at a company like HLJ is my dream, my family used to own a hobby store and it was the best. Syd got me back into gunpla after so many years, so glad I found your channel :3
Wow. This episode came fast. Not complaining though! As more Gunpla TV is more nice-feeling goodness in my life. I’m also excited for the new HGCE Force Impulse Gundam (Can we call it a Revive?). Although i’m not going to jump on it yet, as i’m saving up for the P-Bandai Blast Impulse variant. The new Full Armor Unicorn Destroy Mode Red Psychoframe would be a lot more interesting if I didn’t already have the Unicorn Destroy mode, and if there wasn’t another version of it with green psychoframe. Although the stickers are cool and the beam javelin is also a sweet looking weapon. I assume this is sort of the “replacement” for the non-existent “RG Unicorn” as either Bandai didn’t see it profiting enough, or the kit was simply too hard to engineer with the transforming psychoframe. So they went with the RG Sinanju and released this kit for a counterpart. Why else would they give the RG-like clear decals?
The HG Zaku I TB Anime colors is definitely something i’m getting. I didn’t like the sand colors of the original release, but change that to orange with yellow and i’m sold. Since Syd really likes this kit, i’m sure i’ll like it too. I’m also getting the Graze Kai, and i’m not making a Graze Kai, nor the Graze Ground type. I’m thinking of combining them to make a Graze Kai Ground type, just to differentiate it more from the 1/100 Graze. I’m excited for that guy as well! ^_^
I already built the MG Amazing Red Warrior, and have the MG Hyaku Shiki 2.0 in my backlog, so I actually don’t want to win this giveaway, so that other people can experience the joy of having these kits as well. If I got them, sure I would paint them to differentiate, but I want everyone to know how great the red warrior is. The MG Amazing Red Warrior, will always hold a special place in my heart for being my first MG kit. Speaking of backlogs, I had just received HG00 00 Gundam Seven Swords/G, my HGUC ReZEL and my Revoltech Vox Aura from you guys! I already unboxed the Vox, and it looks awesome on my shelf! I’ve just binged built an MG Turn A Gundam and HGEW Serpent Custom, so i’m a small bit burnt out. I’ll probably finish my HGUC ReZEL by tomorrow though! >:)
I just got the Transient and the MG Gundam the Origin through the SUPER SUMMER SALE. It seems appropriate that the two MGs you’re giving away are red and gold, since I’m planning on giving the Transient an Iron Man Mk-51 makeover when I build it. Even though they’re Lannister colours and Tony’s a Stark.
I like the gimmicks on the Amazing Red Warrior, but I think I’d have to go with the gold of the Hyakku-Shiki, simply because I’ll already have an RX-78 represented with the Origin kit.
Then again, I see a lot of people going with the gold. Would going red increase my chances of winning?
Another great episode as always. Really looking forward to getting that Renewal Impulse. And I love how simplistic and bad ass the Amazing Red Warrior looks. See you guys next time.
Just joined the community. Been watching your YouTube for some time now. Always, an awesome video. Keep up the good work. Be great to win one of those giveaways.
It might be the holidays that contributes to the low amount of comments. I’m away the entire June myself, and with this iffy internet I missed the previous episode during the release, had to watch this one in 360p sob…
Gunpla is Freedom.. I totaly agree. After a 4month build of a real car (kit), where all has to be perfect, it is so relaxing just to sit down and disasseble a snapfit SciFi kit and give it a nice easy finish with just washes, drybrush and a few Highlights.
Ryan this will buy you bunch of comments!
Also, love the show and I was lucky enough to pick up hyaku shiki 2.0 as it was gone with in couple day I think.
Thanks for all the work you guys put in and also the summer sale!
cant wait to see the full armor unicorn, i have the Banshee Norn destroy mode and its prolly my favorite HG i have built. also whoever wins the red warrior and hyaku shiki will love them, i have both and they are proudly displayed as focal points of my collection
It’s always exciting to see models molded in different colors. I have always enjoyed airbrushing grey over gray… I kinda want to paint a Gundam in an Aggressor paint scheme.
Great show as always. I agree with Todd, the stickers for the Zaku 1 on the shoulders are pretty terrible. They are difficult to make smooth and look nice. I have the manga version and I was hoping Bandai would add a colored piece, alas, they did not. Keep up the good work and enjoy the Expo!
Hyaku Shiki! This hand of mine glows with an awesome power! Its burning grip TELLS ME TO ACQUIRE YOU! TAKE THIS! My love, my anger, and ALL MY SORROW! SHINING FINGER CARESS! GO! GO! GO!
Great show as always guys 🙂
The Hyaku Shiki i can take 😀 Red Warrior is not one i would want, but when you giving it away, sur i can take it to 😛 Don’t really get why bandai made the Red warrior in MG?? it’s only in 1ep in the serie, there was a ton off good Gundam’s in the serie and they could have made instead.
Just started building 144 HG kits and I am hooked, don’t know if I should just start collecting every HG throughout each series or just the ones that I like or branch out to RG, MG or some PGs which I would love to get. There is so many to choose from lol.
TWO questions, ONE: where are the Initial D kits at? Are they any good?
TWO: Are there any standalone MG sized versions of the MS Cage featured in the Unicorn kit?
Great episode like always
Wrote you guys a poem:
Amazing red warrior is red
Hyakushiki is gold
I need one of these kits in my life
before I get too old.
I have to say that the HG Zaku I is looking pretty cool. I especially like the colors used for this. Really look forward to the sales you guys have. That’s when I get my Hobby Japan Magazine fix! Thanks for that. Well, with that said, let’s see how my luck is this time around to win one of those awesome Gundams!
Hey guys been a while trying to get back into gunpla hard a hard year emotional devistation. Feel better building the walking liger right now have a huge back log. Looking forward to seeing you at day 2 saturday of anime expo and hope to build gunpla with you there had a blast last year. Keep up the great work and cant wait for my rg sinanju
Great episode as always. Just got to finally watch the entire series of 00 Gundam. Loved it until the end wished they did a third season instead of a movie. More mg kits from 00 Gundam hopefully.
great show guys!!! can’t wait to get my super super super sale on and get some great deals on gunpla!!!!! keep up the good work and thank you everyone at HLJ love buying from you guys and always have a great time ordering for your team!!!
How much did you guys end up spending during the sale? What items did you buy besides Gundams? All $300 of my purchase was on gundams. My shipping though is going to be $200. Ouch my wallet. Did I even save some money I wonder? I’m too lazy to compare prices on Amazon
Great episode and is there any news on a 1/100 graze ein? Bryan how are the twins doing and adapting to your new role as a father going now that it has been a few weeks?
I always wanted to win something gold and shiny, and that Hyaku Shiki is the Gunpla Oscar…if i win i want to thank Syd and Ryan, gunplatv, hobbylinkjapan, family, pets, and a very special thank you to myself for having decided to comment lol… thank you … thank you
Great ep as always gents. I am looking forward to more MG releases for the Thunderbolt line. In fact I would love see that Zaku I in MG form. Also that Graze Kai looks great definitely need to get my hands on one. Keep it up guys.
I recently built and painted the Hyaku Shiki 1.0 and I don’t mind to get the 2.0..
But the Amazing Red Warrior looks so cool! If I win it I’ll detail all those pistons in Alclad II chrome.
Oh i wish, i could get an Amazing Red Warrior (hint hint Wish granters) Great show as always.Just built an RG Strike, and am going to build the RG 00 Raiser super excited, you guys got me into Gunpla so thank you really.
Well you were certainly right about the Hyaku-Shiki bringing in the comments! I’ll cast my line out as well!
That gold is nice, but I’d like to strip it and try some other colors!
I’m looking forward to the MG Thunderbolt gundam. It looks great, and i like that coloring it has. I recently finished building the Origins Zaku II with the Giant axe and I’m impressed with how sturdy it feels compared to other HG and the frame that it has. My next build at the moment is the Endless waltz Sandrock MG, which looks great.
I got to be honest, that Graze Kai never interested me until now, it looks pretty fine now. Also, that Force Impulse may be the next build I will buy but then I remember that Bandai has the Blast Impulse, which I like a lot more… As P-Bandai… I will just continue building my RG Qan[T] in the meantime.
Awesome episode! Wish you guys could come to a Canadian Anime convention like Anime North or Otakuthon. I’m sure there’s tons of Canadian fans who would love to meet you (myself included). Hope I win one of the MGs 😀
I ended up missing the Summer Sale for the Hyaku-Shiki :(, so hopefully I’m lucky enough to win either of the prizes. Really excited to see you guys in person in a few weeks at AX!
Those are some nice kits looking for a new owner ^^.
Also a question to Todd. We know Syd has his own blog so do you have one? Since you do more than just snap the kits it would be interesting to see your works.
Awesome episode as always. Id love to get both kits, but specially that slick hyaku shiki. On a side note, do you guys think a 1/100 cartas custom graze will be released? I personally like those colors, and would much prefer it over a pink ryusei go. Keep up the good work!
I’m sure I’m late to comment, but having a hyaku shiki 2.0 would definitely be sweet, though I’m still getting the revive when it comes out. My last MG is from 2001 so it’d be neat seeing how far they’ve improved
Dear HLJ,
Thank you for the always awesome reviews. I love me some grunt kits! I recently walked into a video game shop that sells Gunpla and they were selling the Standard Graze and the Graze Ein for the same price. I was thinking about the great reviews the Standard Graze got, but I heard Syd whispering, “Ein! Ein! Ein!” into my ear and I just had to buy the Ein. Thank you so much for helping me with my decision and I hope to see more reviews in the future.
Syd and Todd come packing the heat in this episode. Well, Todd does. Syd tries to heat it up but can’t decide how to do it. We also talk about all the new kits that are coming in August.
Ryan, Todd, and Syd all have something they are excited to show on this episode of Gunpla TV. We also talk about the newest RG which is available for preorder now as well as our plans for Anime Expo! We also […]
The Valuable Pod is just here sitting unopened waiting for the revive Gyan. AND THE SHOULDER PADS WON’T EVEN FIT. The hell are you now Gyan? Too cool for late 80’s-early 90’s fashion?
long post… I was wondering how common the error that Kakarot197 had with his Gyan sholders.. since where wasn’t any mention of it…. it wasn’t common.. great display of all the 1/144s!
Both the RG Quant and Sinanju looks great! too bad they are just a little too small for my eyes. =(
I finally got all my spring sale and Freedom 2.0 haul in and now a Summer sale!!! Curse you guys!!!! looks like I will have some stuff in my PWH to be shipped with my Full Armor TB.
Ohhhhh yeah… Top Gear 3.0 . Sure it’s not as great at Clarkston/May/Hammon.. but if you go back and watch any of the first 2 seasons from the last series…. its was pretty meh too..
lets just home they pull it together sooner than later…
Hi guys,
Thanks again for putting up a great show.
Wow, what a wonderful letter. Me too started 35 yrs ago. My first gunpla was the 1/144 RGM-79 GM (Could get the RX-78-2 back then because it was so popular and sold out in seconds..LOL). After 30+ years, a my buddy re-introduced me back to gunpla. I was hooked. 2013 was my first time purchase gunpla from you guys. 90% of my gunpla also comes from you, so THANK YOU for providing the service and products to me. One of the online model group trying to do a Bandai Group build, starting Jun 1, 2016 to Dec 31, 2016. I’ve a list of my favorites including the RG Sinanju to build. By any chance I may posted them up in you site that would be great.
Thank you again.
Loving Gunpla TV as usual, just can’t get behind the new theme intro tho. Sounds like something from the Speed Channel from 10 yrs ago. Here’s to winning anything cause you lucky bastards are obviously used to winning!
Freedom! This episode got me remembering the time when I discovered hlj. Hlj taught me the differences between gunpla grades. Hlj looked like a sketchy site back then. I think it was when I was 9 yrs old and I’m 19 now haha
Pretty punny title I see. Really looking good forward to the rg sinanju after building my hguc sinanju. I can see why the small parts of the quant can be finiky.
Great episode guys, love the look of the sinanju RG having some new gimmicks. However I believe that the RG line is getting watered down a bit. Compare the newer ones to the first few kits like the RX-78-2, MkII, Zeta and GP01s which had a lot more armor separation and required much heavier panel lining.
Love the fact how Todd prepared for this episode. I wish he would do it whenever its possible from now on. Also about the new Gyan head. True the visor looks better but the head spike is way worse (yeah i know safety reasons…. bla bla bla). And about old kits. Not all of them are bad. I strongly recommend Todd and everyone else building Z-Type Zaku (http://hlj.com/product/BAN01348/Gun). I think thats the best old kit (by old i mean from the 80’s) – I’m building and modifying it now and im having a blast.
I refuse to watch the new Top Gear, I’m just rewatching all the old episodes. I need to get an Amazon Prime membership to watch Top Gear’s true successor 😀
Looks like there’s plenty going on with the RG Sinanju to make up for the lack of armor color separation. I can’t wait to see what it looks like with all the RG stickers applied.
This weeks show was Gyantastic folks. Currently working on the MG Sinanju at Syd’s recommendation and Im super impressed. Thanks for the awesome recommendation.
Syd, it sounded like you were having some mic trouble while talking about the Qan[t]. I’m thinking of getting it for one of my nephews as an introduction to the RG line. Would you recommend it?
SUPER SUMMER SALE! SUPER SUMMER SALE! SUPER SUMMER SALE!
I’ve been waiting and checking the channel every week in anticipation for this episode to come! And right into the action I have to say that the Shield Liger looks absolutely beast. I love how the parts just work in tandem to make it look realistic while it’s walking! But this week what i’ve really been waiting for were the Gundam reviews, because I am literally on the edge for both the RG 00 Qan[T] and the HGUC Gyan Revive. Right off the bat I was both surprised and pleased of the Gyan party. My initial thoughts were “Holy crap all these puns…” but my later thoughts included things like “Typical Revive articulation? That was a needed update!” It’s a bit disappointing that the Valuable pod doesn’t work with it, oh well, I guess I’ll just get the regular HGUC Gyan if I wanted a Gyan Vulcan, and I can’t help but think that that was Bandai’s plan all along, so they could continue selling the old Gyan kits. Still, it’s earned a place on my wishlist. For the RG Qan[T] though, i’m still a bit on the fence. I want to get it to have the Exia, 00 Raiser & Qan[T] because Setsuna is awesome. But the kit just doesn’t really scream to me to buy it. (Syd, do you think I should also get the HG Virtue, Kyrios and Dynames because Gundam 00?) But I do like how it looks with the bits on the shield, I dunno…
But holy crap does that guy have a lot of Gunpla! My dream is to be able own that many kits and more when I grow up! It’s a big dream, but one that I want to follow. Gunpla is love, Gunpla is life!
First time commenting on the Hobby Link TV site. Syd, Will there be a live build of the RG Sinanju? and Ryan, saw the first episode of the new Top Gear and vowed never to watch again. It was awful.
Just finished building and painting my Crossbone Gundam Ver Ka. and was deciding what to get next. Now I have 3 hard choices, 00 Quan[t], MG God Gundam or save up a bit and finally get MG Deathscythe Custom to go with my Wing Custom. Really hoping they finally put out an MG Heavyarms Custom at some point. I’m assuming it hasn’t because of weight issues with the double Gatling Guns.
Zoids, I still have a few of these from my primary / elementary school years. A few of the wind up ones and one motorized (the transport snail).
ExtravanGYANza should have included the news of the upcoming HGBF Gyan kit. Speaking of new kits, so excited about the RG Sinanju. Was about to order the MG. But when saw your show coverage, I knew I wanted the RG instead.
As for Top Gear, I dunno. It just feels weird without those three.
Another great episode guys and keep up the awesome work. I am so stoke that RG Sinanju will be released just in time for my B-Day. In addition, I saw at the Expo pics that there was a small plaque with a P-Bandai release of kit; do you guys have any speculations on what it will be?
As for Top Gear, I saw a bit of the new show and it doesn’t have the same spark. The two host, Chris Evans (not Captain America) and Matt LeBlanc, feels like they are reading straight from a script and as a result the chemistry is flat. It almost seemed forced and and for sure more tamed from before. Perhaps they need a third cast member to change up the dynamics, but mind you it is too early to speculate.
This episode was GYANtastic! Great episode as always guys. I am in love with that shield liger. I may need to cave in and get one myself. I actually had a few month break from doing anything with plamo, and now I have about 11 kits in my backlog. Including the new MG Victory Two Ver Ka. Can’t wait to start this. Your video on it got me hyped. Anyway, thanks for keeping me entertained with each new episode!
No color separation for the RG sinanju???????? those are sad news for me, You broke my heart, that was the RG kit that I was waiting for,and I love the color separation on the rg kits, but with no color separation, for me it’s nothing but a glorified HG… I’m really, really sad of learning that, I guess I’ll cancel my preorder…
i’m in the minority who doesn’t care much for the Sinanju… i’d rather have the Sinanju Stein. something about all those pointy things at the edges. it’s not the same vibe as the spikes on a lot of zeon suits. that’s just me tho. i wish the Stein had a monoeye though… too expensive to buy the red Sinanju just for the head lol
Great episode as always, the 00 Quan-bracket T bracket looks pretty amazing; it’s been ages since I watched 00 and it’s always a little hit of nostalgia whenever these RG’s come out since they’re usually from older series. And you can tell that Bandai spent that time engineering an amazing kit every time.
Oh Top Gear 🙁 Apart from Gundam, cars are huge in my life sure check out my profile pic to see what a sensible (not) 24yr old car fanatic buys for his second car.
The show made me cringe the whole way through watching it, Chris Evans really annoyed me, He doesn’t know squat about cars which you can tell by what he says about the cars he is reviewing and his shouting. Matt leBlanc just seemed way too stiff and felt like he was only there for the pay cheque. I know old Top Gear was scripted but at least they made it feel that it wasn’t. The funny thing is the could make the show 10 times better by replacing Chris Evans with Chris Harris who is doing a Top Gear spin off after the main show. Harris is a youtuber, that guy knows his cars and he can drive!
***P.S. I don’t comment on episodes where the kit being given away is one I wouldn’t want because someone else may be dying for it so should this comment win please give the kit to someone else, I came here for the Top Gear rant :)***
Dear syd, ryan and todd.. Thank you for making gunpla tv happen. I Enjoy every episode and has been a fan for a long time. I just wish you can also come to our country for expos or anime events. Wish i could meet you all. Keep it up. You inspire us to inspire others
By the way .. when you were building in live stream then todd suggested a perfect grade ball joke… he just read my message.. and i was flattered that he noticed it.. dont blame him syd hege more power to ur show more love andmore gunpla to us all
wow! 206th episode.. nice episode guys.. if the rg sinanju comes out please do a live video building it syd! pls! pls and pls! can’t hardly wait for it to come out!
McCloud! No it’s Wallace, get it right! Great episode guys, although why did they start a new brand with Revive when they were already doing so with the HG[enter universe here]?
Argh!!! way too many Gyan puns!!! Great episode as always.
Thanks for the little history insight, I had no clue older gunpla kits were that… simple.
But damn that Qan[t] looked fragile, hope I’ll be proven wrong once I get my hands on it.
Sinanju HYPE!
I spent 20 minutes attempting to think of a good ‘Gyan’ pun, all i could think of was ‘Gyan’k you for the episode 🙂 Loved the Zoid,my dad thought it was amazing and was asking why my Gundams couldn’t walk like that. 70 comments for the last episode…. im sorry Syd i think it was the Heat Metal.
Syd a Liger is the child of a Male Lion and a Female Tiger, and will only occur in captivity because Lion and Tiger habitats don’t cross over each other. CONVERSELY if the Parents of the cub are a Male Tiger and a Female Lion, then the resulting cub is known as a Tigon instead.
Also on another note I wonder if the Tigon was the inspiration for the name of the Tryon 3 in anyway, because after all according to Meijin Kawaguchi GUNPLA IS FREEDOOOOOOMMMM!
“This comment is not sponsored by Meijin Kawaguchi the 3rd or Kira Yamato, all mentions of and use of the term gunpla is freedom has been my own use and not forced upon me by any outside party, regardless of if it is true or false.”
I can remember trying to build the motorized Zoids EZ-016 Zaber Fang kit with my dad around 13 years ago when I was 9 (I watched the anime and wanted it). Didn’t go to well as I had no patience for dealing with it when the parts wouldn’t stay together (my dad also has no skill with model kits which I knew from previous endeavors). I don’t think it was ever completely together but it was enough for me at the time. however it didn’t stay that way for long. It is now in pieces mostly lost some where but with a remaining few the head, left front and back leg parts and the all important motorized torso still in my possession. I always wanted to put it back together some day if I found the rest of it (very unlikely to happen).
Of course now I have to watch a favourite movie of mine ( Still Crazy ) due to one of the songs in it. SCREEAAAAAAM FREEDOOOOM!!!!!! Damn Bill Nighy’s a great actor.
Nice episode. I love what they’re doing with the revive line. Hopefully they’ll do the Wing Zero Custom and the Deathscythe Hell Custom revive, although the later as an RG would be awesome. Thanks again for a nice show.
That was an awesome episode guys. That Shield Liger is a beast (yes, pun intended). I hope to see more reviews and you guys have brought me back into the Zoids fold. I haven’t been interested in them since it came on Toonami years ago when I was a child. I’m looking forward to building my first kit soon. Good luck to all of you and to Ryan with the kids!
another great episode guys. looking forward to the RG shinanju, especially since i might be able to get one soon. giving away twin freedom’s? thats nuts
Bandai just released the newest kit in the Real Grade line, the 1/144 RG GNT-0000 00 QAN[T] and Gunpla TV couldn’t wait to show it to you and lo and behold we brought it to you in a Live Event.
Seems like we’ve waited a while for another RG from 00 and finally it’s here! The RG Qan[T] is a fan favourite and now gets the Real Grade treatment. Here we unbox the newest kit for all to see!
In our first episode back after the 2016 Shizuoka Hobby Show, Syd and Todd talk about all the Bandai Plamo they saw there and Ryan has some things to share. We also have an important announcement to […]
As much as Astaroth look really good, why I do get the feeling that Barbatos will not be showing as much as in season 1?
And regarding FA-78 Ver. Thunderbolt Ver. KA, when will you guys show off the glory of the kit? since the kit is available for Pre-Order now at hlj.com
First Congrats for Ryan and good to have you back.
LA Expo… Oh man I would like to join but in LA… =,=!
That’s too far…
For the RG Sinanju, I Guess I would like to have that. But I am more interested if Bandai made RG for Unicorn or Full Armor Unicorn Full Transform in RG Teehee. But I guess Full Armor Unicorn will be in P-Bandai.
Anyway Great Episode as always! 😀 Keep going till 300 eps. 😀
I’ll be at Anime Expo! I’ll also be entering the regional GBWC there. Hope to see you guys, take some pics with you guys, and not confuse Hobby japan’s booth for yours this time! 😀
Awww, Syd! You remembered my comment on ManowaR but you forgot to add it to the list? Now I’m sad… lucky me, I have the new DOOM OST running right now, so I’ll manage. But now I feel like I deserve some kind of compensasion, you know? You’d better remember, this time, or I’ll have HeatMetal count up your sins!
I feel like Bandai had a hard choice deciding whether the Hyaku Shiki or the Unicorn would be the 200th HGUC.
One one hand the Hyaku Shiki is “type 100”, a milestone in its own name.
On the other hand, the 100th HGUC was the very first Unicorn, I wouldn’t complain if we got the same kit 2 milestones in a row 😛
I have been really waiting for that Gyan Revive for far too long, I need that thing. I wish I could go to the Anime Expo, but 1. Have to revise for Exams, 2. I live in Hong Kong, and 3. I’m saving that money for Gunpla (BIRTHDAY RG SINANJU HYYYPE).
Todd, it’s not a Man Rodi, it’s a different mobile Suit called the “Spinner Rodi” and I want a kit of it. ;-;
I actually prefer the asymmetrical look as opposed to the symmetrical look, it’s what makes the Astaroth Special. I like the design of the Thunderbolt GM, but i’m sorta debating whether to get it or not due to the hollow parts and static arms. I assume it’s to save money but it’s a bit of a turn off.
I’m a huge fan of Kamen Rider, and that kit would seem cool, but I would have nowhere to put it. XD
Really cool episode!
I got a question, when will the RX-78-4 and RX-78-5 get restocked?
It has changed from April restock to June restock
Can’t wait to get hold of it~~~
Great episode guys! and gratz on twin boys Ryan. Also, Todd your not the only one! I think your version of Astaroth looks better than the one bandai printed out! I still love you Mr.Bandai dont be angry with me!
Great show as usual and glad to see Ryan back! I can’t wait for later today as I will be getting my GM thunderbolt and the Astaroth in the mail for a long weekend of gunpla building. I would love to meet you guys in LA; however, I don’t have enough spare holiday days left after booking my for a trip to Europe(insert crying face here). I will be there in spirit.
Haha welcome back Ryan. How many years will it be for the Ligar. I gave up seeing the Falcon finished, and now since Ryan v2.0 and v2.1 having a screaming contest at your place, this will also take while. But great to have you back in the show. Talking about the show, if you are going to do a livebuild Syd, when will it be announced? Would love to join.
Congratulations Ryan! Great video guys! The Astaroth looked interesting. I can’t wait for the RG Sinanju, it’s going to be fantastic. Kamen Rider Heat/Metal, awesome 🙂
Great episode as always guys, Symmetrical Astaroth was actually awesome, show off some more ideas Todd! Congrats Ryan get them the same clothes no variations, your wife will hate it 🙂 Anyways wish i could see you guys at the show but im unable to attend *Sigh* Have fun, and Sieg Zeon!
Oooh! I spy a Kamen Rider Double, Heat Metal! I’m really up for that, but only because I know someone else who’d really like it as he’s a massive Double fan. Looking forward to the 00 Qant next episode, it’s pretty awesome!
Glad to see that your back Ryan, it felt a bit strange to only have Syd and Todd on the show, and make sure to take care of yourself you sounded a bit tired near the end.
However Todd, Syd, you guys are really trying to take it out on my wallet, 2 HG Astaroths for a “complete look” version. And your talk of putting the Thunderbolt Full Armour Gundams backpack on the GM, made me think of a mash up with the Full Armour Gundams backpack, the Powered GM Cardigan, possibly the Powered Arms Powereder option pack and some miniguns from the Heavy Arms or its custom form, for the Full Armour Powered GM Cardigan All Arms ver.
But I’ve got the Exia and 00 Raiser RGs coming from you to do first, which I guess I’d better do before doing something crazy.
Wow!!! I really like this episode that when Tod show us what he do with Astraroth!!! It is really creative and new to me!!!! Thank you for showing me how to play with gunpla properly….!!! XD
Congrats on the twin! todd should really praticing the lines. both of you got responsibility now.. one on the twins and one on the lines.. hahahaha :-p
I wish I could go to AX, but I don’t have enough money to go to, let alone enough to take a trip within my own state right now. Maybe I could do some Gunpla commissions. I hear those bring in good amounts of money.
Welcome back Ryan, good luck with the twins. Can’t wait to see the gyan in action. I’m also excited for build fights as well Todd, those new kits look ace.
I have noticed that lately every new mold for HG kits have lego-style peg hands instead of trigger fingers. The hyaku-shiki is the revive I’ve been looking forward to since they first announced them but from the pictures and videos I’m very disappointed that Bandai might be using the cheap style hands on it. what are your guys’ thoughts on the hands?
Hi Syd ryan and todd, First of all congratulations to Ryan on the twins. I just like to commend you all for the effort you excerted in each episode. You gave me purpose in life. I was suicidal before. But when I watched your videos.. Every episode I have watched has enticed me to build more and more gunpla. I am building for 4 months now and have built 10 hg’s, 2 Mg’s and 1 RG in my possesion. Looking forward to build a PG. Now I am happy and met new friends who shares the same interest. the hobby saved me.. You guys saved me.. and I am grateful to you ..more power to your show Hoobylinkjapan. GUNPLA TV ROCKS!!
Beaver Corporation is a company within Japan that imports some of the finest military scale model kits from around the world. In this video we check out their booth at the Shizuoka Hobby Show.
Golden Week has passed here in Japan and Syd and Todd made use of their days off by finishing up the Master Grade Freedom Gundams they committed to building during the unboxing episode. Sit back and relax and let […]
awesome episode! thanks for bringing us a review of not one but both MG Freedoms. i’m kind of disappointed that the 2.0 has been reduced in height and wondering what their reasoning is behind it. is it still true to the scale of the mechanical specs listed on the manual compared to a hypothetical actual size? lol just nitpicking on numbers and specifics. still a terrific kit and can’t wait to build it.
I’m a twin too! We’re both into Gunpla but he doesn’t normally keep up with you guys :C Nevertheless I am excited to see what the hobby show has in store!
when i see the Freedom 2.0 i really can’t imagine the next 12 years for the 3.0!!! Because the detail on 2.0 really look amazing and the articulation is on the serious level that i see from a pro gunpla custom. gonna get it one while it last!!!! and Tod and Syd for the review!!!
i like the design, but as a gunpla kit, the freedom seems very fiddly. that backpack just feels like it has too much going on…
kinda like ryan!! congrats man; best of luck with the new fatherhood mayhem double edition! looking forward to a triumphant return to GPTV once things’ve gotten settled in with the new family life; until then, somebody’s got some lines to learn (lookin at you, todd)! no pressure…
The new Freedom looks cool, all those shoulders and hips gimmicks, but no knee sliding, nor LEDs… What is Bandai up to? Also congrats to Ryan for his family upgrade, but I still want that Masterpiece Liger built. As for the song, i vote for Fight for Freedom by ManowaR. Thanks again
Great show guys. Syd I’m looking to pick up a Zeta MG but there are so many versions. I know you’ve weighed in before on the best version of the sinanju and the RX-78, what are your thoughts on the Zeta?
I’ve been catching up on all the old episodes from the start at 125% speed, and I watched this one on a train trip at normal speed. It’s really weird to hear you speak so slow! 🙂
I like the Freedom 2.0. I think it’s a major improvement on the regular Freedom design. Dunno why but the original designs never spoke to me, the 2.0 on the other hand looks awesome!
The previous Freedom which is less busy is indeed more accurate to the anime (iirc). Drawing all those details which the 2.0 offers, would probably have given the production team a lot more work. I rather have it this way than them using 3D models.
Also lol, was that intro blooper (the freedom 2.0 intro) suppose to be left unedited as a joke? xD
sorry to let you down, there is no more mythbusters. That Tested actually is a youtube channel not part of mythbusters and the mythbusters ended already somewhere in March this year. one of the main star of mythbusters (Adam) do collaboration with Tested and always appear in some talk, 1 day build, and his explanation on his coming project. Tested usually do random stuff from tech gadget and hobby thing (more to hollywood movie replica). yes recently see them build (group build) perfect grade zeta gundam. funny to see them first time unboxing it, with that so many parts it like they no have idea what to do and where to start, but they manage to build it bit by bit. but one thing for sure no testing from mythbusters to test gundam since the program ended already. actually its a fun too if they want to test gundam technology in real life. to see what it look like if they exist and how its working.
Hey guys~ great video as usual.
I have some money to spend and I have trouble deciding what kit should I buy.
Do you guys have any MG recommendation ?
or should I start RG collections ?
Congratulations to Ryan, we will see him soon!
By the way tested did do build a gundam zeta perfect grade on the channel it was for the 0ne week build, you have to be a member of the channel to see the entire build but the have the first episode for free.
And thanks to syd showing the wing rays in one shot in can see the details of the plastic when he took the ray apart.
Keep the good gunplay guys, see ya next week
Salut to Ryan.
Go Liger man, there will be no small plasticparts for you in years,
and since megasize is dead, it is your last chance to inhale the spirit
of a fresh unboxed runner.
OMG!!! Can’t believe I won the Guntank 🙂 Thanks guys. Also, congrats to Ryan and hope you manage to get a good look at the MG FA-78 Thunderbolt ver Ka next week, really looking forward for it. Thanks again all at HLJ!
I’ve seen 3D rendering of the FA-78 and was pleasantly surprised to see that Hajime Katoki had designed the inner robot. But I was truly shocked to see a rendering of the Escape pod and it will be interesting to see whether its inclusion will aid or hinder movement of the waist and upper torso section.
Oh, man…! Now that I have a stable income I can’t really buy gunplas without being broken cause USD is too expensive here in Brazil. T_T These Freedom are so temptive!
All this talk about freedom 1.0 and freedom 2.0 reminds me of George Michael’s freedom (Wham) vs freedom ’90. Same guy, but two very different versions.
Great show!
I have the OG, that I purchased years ago, and it was interesting to see the differences. Also, Congratulations and Gambare to Ryan and especially Mrs. Ryan on the new additions.
Does this mean we will be seeing even more of Todd on Gunpla TV?
If so then, well played Todd…well played.^-^
Looking forward to seeing the gang on the Shiz Videos.
Another great episode guys and keep up the great work!
The cries for the MG 2.0 Freedom sounds like it could be a rally cry from Full Metal Jacket.(I changed it up a bit, but you get the feeling)
Bandai: “What do we do for a living, ladies!?”
Todd and Syd: “Gunpla! Gunpla! Gunpla!”
Bandai:”What MG do you want to build!?”
Todd and Syd: “Freedom! Freedom! Freedom!”
So question for Todd and Syd, what initially got you into building model kits or gunpla?
Great episode guys and a late congratulations to Ryan on the birth of the twins! May they bring you joy and frustration in equal measure, as children are wont to do to their parents.
Also Todd and Syd, good work on the Freedoms, it looks like either are great kits its a shame however that I don’t really have enough room to collect anything bigger than HGs and RGs.
Really good episode and great side by side review. The Freedom brings back all my memories of building the MG freedom gundam OG, I’ve built quite a lot of seed kits and good to see Bandai are still showing some love to the series and I’m very tempted to pick up Freedom 2.0
Those railguns are too damned long. I still like the compact design on the RG Strike Freedom better. The V_fins are too damned long. What’s your wow factor on the original and 2.0?
I’m gonna break the mould and say ‘Raise You Flag’ by Man On a Mission (OP1 for IBO).
Yeah, MythBusters has been over for awhile now. All the members are on to their own things, after 13 years. Tested is independent.
We are really busy with the Golden Week, or rather, busy getting ready for it, but still we wanted to pump out an episode of Gunpla TV for everyone. Enjoy the plamo while we enjoy some well-earned days […]
denial is fine but i prefer the guntank :). Loving the grimgerde, when i first saw it introduced to us for the first time, i was like, this is really cool, yeah they’re gonna make a 1/100 soon, i just have to wait
1/100 Blue Destiny Unit 1 when? Efreet needs somebody to fight. Why, Bandai? WHYYYYYYYYYYY? They always leave these huge, obvious gaps in their lineups.
Have you heard of and do you like the Mythbusters? They have a Youtube channel group Called Tested and they’ve been talking about building a couple Gunpla Kits.
The RE/100 Efreet makes me sad because it’s another RE kit that has those crappy HG hands. They gave the Nightingale the emotion manipulator hands(which they aren’t using enough of in MG kits), so why not the other REs? Make it happen Bandai, right meow!
A bit disappointed that I didn’t win the Rinascita. Oh well, there’s always next time.
That Efreet looks awesome, it’s a bit of a shame that it’s articulation isn’t great, but at least it still looks cool. Hoping that I get that Guntank, the denial is cool too I guess. XP
I wonder if you guys will stream/ build the RG Qan[T] when it comes out, I can’t wait to get it. Also I’m in Denial about winning this time but I Gun-Tank you anyways for the opportunity.
i see that you did a comparison of the Gouf r35 and the gouf revive, but Tod can you do a comparison with the gouf custom (http://hlj.com/product/BAN965503/Gun) articulation i think it is obsolete, it on look, in my opinion it look better then all. Great episode and thank you for the reviews
That Efreet and Grimgerde…
Especially the Grimgerde, That is one of the most awesome Frame in the IBO
Efreet however, seems to be short of long-range weapon there
Wow I thought the Efreet was gonna be kinda plain but it looks awesome. Im pretty much a MG/PG guy but it kinda makes me want to take a second look at the RE/100 kits.
Also my Ver KA Ball came today from HLJ! Time to customize it into something crazy!
The Efreet has sorta grown on me since they announced it. And I never made the connection between Final Fantasy’s Ifrit (in the English translations) and Efreet!
Congrats to Ryan and another great episode. I was waiting for someone would make a Thunderbird reference and it came on smooth. The Shizuoka Hobby Show, what model kits that Bandai and other companies are coming out, I can’t wait? Just for now, I am waiting for the Iron Blooded Orphan’s Gundam Astaroth to be release and you guys doing a review on it. As always keep up the good work and stay awesome!
Hahah, an episode is always better with a bit more Todd =D
Really hoping to get the Denial if I get any of them, I already have the Try Burning Gundam and it would be fantastic to make a scene with them! Sorry Guntank, I was just never really that into you…
Man, the Gouf R35 has a such a cool design. I think it’ll become the gateway into Zaku-style mechas for me. Welp, I figure I need to save up another 1275 yen then.
Oh and if I’m selected, I’d appreciate the Denial. Unless the other person wants it since I have one, but my dog shredded my box for it which kills my collector’s soul and I don’t think I’ll ever repurchase the denial just for the box. It’s a great kit and all but I don’t think I’ll use any of it’s parts for any custom models, so it’d be a waste of prime nihon plastic.
Leo is on the list of likely RE100s coming up. That’s probably the best we’re ever going to get. They’ve came through with the Efreet, so maybe we’ll get all of the suits in that one promo picture. If they go in order that they placed the suits on that picture, the next one will be GM Sniper II or Xi.
I love the original Zeonframes and I would lineup for a new MG Zaku V3.0 for sure. The last great was the Geara Doga. I am often looking at hlj to find the Zaku-type-kit of my choice, but they are all kind of aged.
Actually how outdated is the PG Zaku, since BANDAI went a long way of developement since it came out?
I not intend to build the same Gundam over and over again and end up with 10 different Zaku-II, or different types, wich are almost the same with just another weaponpack. But i absolutly have to have one.
I thought that Shizouka was during the last weekend of May so unfortunately I arranged my trip to Tokyo on the wrong dates, just missing the event so I’m really looking forward to your broadcast. In the mean time I hope that I can win the gun tank ^_^
Hi guys! Thanks for this episode but really looking forward for the next one to see the review of the new Freedom:-) The Efreet in now listed in my shopping list, really looks like a great kit. Will definitely get it! Thanks again guys.
Hi guys,
Great show thanks. Personally, I like the Gouf R35. Way much cooler than the revive and has 2 shields. Just for you Syd, I made a Canadian version of the Gouf R35 posted on the site. Just don’t know if you’ll be able to see it or not.
If I win, may I ask for the RX-78-2 Revive poster behind your seat instead? I really wish to have the RX-78-2 poster.
Thanks.
Bob
Man, that Grimgerde is easily one of my new favorite mobile suits. and you keep asking for a MG Char’s Zaku 2 3.0, I’m still waiting for a MG Justice! C’mon Bandai! We have two MG Freedoms now! Please!!?
Also, hope I win either of those kits, they look awesome! Love you guys, keep up the great work <3
Classic Guntank!
Hope to see more MG FA photos soon.
Wonder what’s next for mg. I really hope they will finish the assault mode for v2 ver.ka
Without the armour is just not feels complete 🙁 they have it for hg, why can’t mg?
Great review as always. What kind of expectations do you have for the upcoming RE/100 Kshatriya in terms of articulation and gimmicks? An awesome review would be to compare it with the HGUC version!
hi guys is me writing to you hlj , i queries about how the lack of race diversity in your company
when i look through you 200 episode and other episode,my question is do there have orther race that work in your company .we should show how diversity that people that play gunpla not just european or white people
that is my concern
Hi, and thanks for the comment! As we are located in Japan, the majority of our staff is Japanese. Gunpla TV, however, is an English-language program, and so is produced by our English speaking staff.
Cann’t wait to get a grimgerde, it looks awesome. I am a. It concerned with the thunderbolt full armor gundam, though. The preview shots do not have the joint coverings on the elbows and knees. I thought that was what makes this version different from the regular full armor. Hopefully they will appear on the model when it is revealed at the hobby show later this month.
just watched the Guntank in action in the origins movie.
Young Casval (Char) sure got some balls. like, you will never be as badass as Casval owning 4 Guntanks while holding his sister on his lap.
Tell me how to get high on gundam guys, just like Todd.. Do I have to work in the same kind of place like HLJ to get as high as Todd ?
JK 😀
Hope I win some kit :p
Great episode guys! Very excited about the MG Thunderbolt rx-78 full armor. I hope too win the hg denial gundam,I have been wanting that one for a while.
Nice episode guys but somehow sad without Ryan (congratz on twins!). I hope he will be back soon and I’m looking forward to see new stuff shown at Shizuoka Hobby Show! 😀
Hey Ryan, Syd and Todd, thanks for all the great shows you’ve done so far, especially the grade explanation ones as they helped me pick out my first gunpla kits, the HG Barbatos and Gusion Rebake. Sadly they weren’t from HLG, but after a bit of research its clear that not only do you have a great reputation, but you guys are cheaper overall than anyone else I can find for the UK, so all my orders will be with you guys from now on.
Just got 2 questions for you guys and the community, for my next lot of kits I’d like to do a top coat and panel wash, I know Ryan really likes his enamel panel wash, but I was wondering if acrylic paint would work just as well if watered down enough, and if it does work which gives the better effect, enamel or acrylic?
And probably more for Syd and Todd, for my next lot of gunpla I’ve decided to go with a few kits from the 00 line, so I was thinking the Exia and the 00 Raiser in HG…But they do come in RG…the price is good and they look doable with my skills…and I really do like the look of the RG QuanT…is it worth jumping from HG to RG if you are confident in your skills to do it?
Also send my thanks to Brian from Boss Builds, he managed to answer the question I was struggling with on how to layer different types of paints/top coats on ep4 of boss builds, I had been struggling with that for days!
Great episode as always, looking at the Grimgerde it seems like its too stocky? or just not thin and ‘sharp’ enough, either way cant wait for next time.
Great Episode guys, at the moment I’m in the middle of building my first PG, the red frame astray. It will look awesome once finished. Would be great if they announce a zaku II char version 3.0, but maybe there might be more 2.0 kits as there are a lot of them that need an upgrade.
Great, now I have to decide between the HG and 1/100 Grimgerde.
I’m also looking at the Gundam the Origin as my 1st MG, even though it’s slightly more expensive than the Freedom 2.0. I just love those accessories and gimmicks, and I don’t have a representation of the Gundam yet.
Oh I already knew about the RG kits (although I had hoped the Qan[t] would be release near the beginning of the month), my question was whether it would be worth making the jump from having only done 2 HG kits, to doing 3 RGs. I’ve actually already gone an ordered the Exia and 00 Raiser in RG and preordered QanT, but thanks for replying anyway.
The first Master Grade kit in four months has arrived and it’s a 2.0 version of the beloved Freedom Gundam. Check out the box contents and how that compares to its Freedom Gundam predecessor.
Its been almost three years since the MG Aile Strike Gundam Ver. RM was released, we get an updated Freedom but there still isn’t an MG Justice or Providence Gundam?
I haven’t had the opportunity to build any MGs yet, partly due to budget, but also because I have limited display space. How does the build experience differ from that of the RG? That’s the only version of a Freedom I have (the Strike Freedom).
Plenty of Plamo is coming your way in episode 202. Ryan busts open that Masterpiece Liger while Syd and Todd look at the first HGs from the Thunderbolt anime as well as two 1/100 scale kits that just […]
I am so excited for the 1/100 Grimgerde and RE1/100 Efreet custom to be built and shown next episode 😀 Hopefully the 1/144 Gundam will also get a 1/100 treatment.
I hope I win that MG kit! I don’t actually have that one and GBF is my favorite series of Gundam, I have all the HG kits ^_^
and you pronounce the second part like “Rin-ah-sh-ta”
and for a little more info on the kit’s name:
‘Fenice’ means Phoenix in Italian and refers to the fact that the ‘Gunpla Builder/Pilot’ kept rebuilding and improving it time after time, like a phoenix rising.’Rinascita’,also Italian, meaning Rebirth. The overall name of the Gunpla is a reference to the Phoenix being reborn from the ashes.
202- Nice…. That site that Sid was talking about might have been Myspace. That was the big social media site before FB. I like the thunderbolt Anime series. Can you do the new MG thunderbolt reviews when they are released? Thanks again HLJ, and hopefully, I win that MG!
Congratulations Ryan! I’m from Italy, to answer your question on the pronunciation of “fenice” until the “i” your pronunciation is pretty good, for the “ce” sound is similar to the “che” of chestnut. On google traslate the audio pronunciation it’s acceptable https://translate.google.it/?hl=it&tab=wT#it/en/fenice . Good episode as always, i’m very curious to see the liger and the Freedom 2.0 =D
Wow! I am not a fan of HG but the Origin and the Thunderbolt Ver. kits are really good looking.
Nice review as always!
Also, I would like to have that MG Rinascita on my hands! (^^^)
Excellent show guys. I’m really excited about the FA-78 Ver. Ka MG that got spoiled recently. It’s nice to get a MG of a suit that isn’t from SEED.
Also when Ryan pointed out the little gold men in the Zoids it made me wonder, do you guys remember zoids model kits from the 90s? I seem to remember having a white brontosaurus but I’m not sure. Here I thought I was a Gundam only kinda guy but maybe I’ve had Zoids kits for a lot longer?
Like always, Great episod.
Congratulations Ryan, great news to hear that you expanding you family 🙂 Hope everything will go well 🙂 I like the Full Armor Gundam, I Like bulky suites.
The Fenice Finascita would be a nice one for the collection 🙂
Hi. I’m Italian but it’s almost impossible to me to explain how to pronounce an Italian word in english!
I Try.
“Fenice” sounds like “phoenix” but remove the final “X” and add the sound “Che” at the end. The same “Che” of “Che Guevara”.
So it’s like “Phoeni”+”Che”.
The problem is the accent because english speaking people always put it in the wrong place. So even if you say “phoeni-Che” you will probably put the accent in the wrong place.
I don’t even try to explain how to say “Rinascita” or it will took me days! But You say it quite well.
If someone is interested the translation is “Phoenix Rebirth”. It’s wrong in English and it’s wrong in Italian too. Japanese guys have big problems with “Engrish” and with “Itarian” too. In Italian a better name could be “Fenice rinata” but it sounds horrible! 😛
Ha, already got my surprise Syd, and thanks I promptly used it in the Gundam sale you had on to get some Nice G-Reco kits (ehehehehe Elf Bullock) and (finally) a Barbatos.
Now I just need to wait for the Nobell restock and pray I get one and I’m all good!
…so we are getting two more workers at HLJ? That means even more kits shown and made right? Congrats! I can’t wait for my 2 month old to start helping me out with my kits too.
Another great episode :] I like the designs of the Thunderbolt kits a lot, but i wont be picking up the high-grade kits, instead im waiting for the master-grade versions that will be coming later on 😀 Im getting both the full armor gundam and zaku
I am just a bit surprised that you guy don’t have snapchat yet. I think it would be a great addition to the list of social media specifically for the Hobby Show coming up. I am looking forward to see what 1/700 IJN kits Hasegawa and Aoshima will be releasing! Winning the Rinascita would be awesome as I am visiting a friend in Italy later this year and it will be a great house warming present.
Congratz on the twins ryan and really looking forward to next week with the 1/100 efreet and freedom 2.0, hopefully unboxing or maybe todd might surprise us like last week with graze ein!!
ooh! sexy rinascita. i definitely want to get the thunderbolt kits once all the bills are caught up. keep going guys, and Syd, make sure Todd knows we haven’t forgiven him for letting us down on episode 200
I think Bandai’s biggest reveal for the Shizuoka Hobby Show was already leaked. I won’t spoil it for people who want to be surprised, but if you want to see it, go on any of those blogs that post scans and custom kits like Gundamguy or Gundamkitscollection.
Nice episode, I really like the thunderbolt kits even though i have never built one. Mostly because I tend to only build MGs. Happily, MG Thunderbolt is finally coming!
Random question, do you guys listen or have you listened to Babymetal. Started listening to them recently and find them amazing, I like both metal and j-pop, and this is a mix of both!
Thanks for the message from the competition, Syd, I cannot imagine how tedious it must be to have to email a thousand people with the same thing.
I like all those “2.0” improvements on the new MG Freedom but that plasma canons which go over the shoulders and also the wings look really strange… I prefer the original design 🙂
Really wanting to get the Thunderbolt kits. I believe Thunderbolt MGs are on the way and I am really wanting one of those. Can’t wait to see you guys cover more kits.
My comment was read on the show! Haha great show as always guys. I just built the HG Barbatos 6th form and was actually extremely dissapointed with the weapons options there was ONLY the Wrench mace, no gun, no original mace, no katana i think Bandai really dropped the ball with that one.
That moment when they read your comment for the first time.
*fanboy squeals*
I’ve spent my last few weeks watching Gunpla TV non stop, it’s so great to just hear other people talk about things you know/love and discuss over stuff. I love you guys so much so please never change (unless if it’s for the better), and stay awesome! 😀
Do my eyes deceive me Ryan is building another model kit again?!? Spectacular news! Also have you watched Gundam Thunderbolt, and what did you think of it?
That Full Armor Gundam looks like a beast, but now that they’ve announced the MG I’m gonna hold out for that one. I can only imagine how impressive he’s gonna look on my shelf. 😀
Seeing the Efreet un boxing makes me consider buying it, still waiting to see your Sinanju Stein/Qubeley mash up Mallard as well Syd.
As for the pronunciation of your give away prize I believe it is Ri na see ta, I would love to be the recipient of that MG as well, as it is one of my favourite designs from the GBF series.
After seeing this episode, I’m really looking forward to receive my FA-78 which is still in the mail. 🙁 Also really excited that Bandai announced the MG FA-78 ver Ka, that will be an instant buy:-) Also, good luck for your twins Ryan!
Congrats Ryan on your expanding family. I was waiting for Syds’s revenge, but didn’t see it coming so soon lol. I can’t wait to see all three kits that are being built and the prize would be amazing to win as well.
Congrats to Ryan on his twins, great episode cant wait to see the Liger completed. great job Syd on getting todd back from his sneak build of the graze ein. love all this plamo would like to win the kit but if not oh well i have a big backlog to work on. Keep up the awesome work everyone
Finally, after a month not seeing the sun, I actually arrived at the latest episode of hobbylink.tv, a fine gunplabased show with your hosts: Sidecutter Syd, Megasize Ryan (that`s what she says :D.. no she doesn`t :C)and (fresh from BANDAI´s humanoid modeller series) Tod the builderbot.
It was like a timlaps journey through gunpla-developement and forehead-growing.. and I loved it. Laughed a lot and since we are kind of similar age, it was interessting to see what childhood in the 80s was in Canada or South-Africa. Sadly Ryan seems to be too buisy and is a bit pushed aside in the show. I love his, sometimes not that cosher, comments and his runting. thats the prize you have to pay for the bigger gunpla-part (which is great). Best wishes to him and his wife for the comming birth, it feels like it was just weeks ago, when his first baby was born and Syd`s second.. Ah, before I forget, tell Scott, that I spent around 15.000 Yen for plastic (and 70.00 for shiping) during that time, just caused by your show. 😉 Best regards from Germany, can`t wait to see more ..o/
My brother used to have a small one, which was like a little AT AT walker and it walked…I, for myself just could look at the pictures in toycatalogues. I dreamt many nights about finally getting one of those dinosaurs, but never got one. The past night..30years later.. I built my very first ZOID. Would be awesome if it would walk, but the ligars sounds are horrible
The zoids masterpiece is not your father’s zoids. Congrats to Ryan, hope the family is well, although i think it will be a while until we see the zoids if there are twins on the way.
Todd is coming along nicely. It is good to have a gunpla geek on the show. I totally get what he is saying about building older kits and how far they have come.
Okay, 200 is over and done and now we are back to our (semi) normal routine with 201. Syd and Ryan talk about the newly announced kits while Todd shows up to go over the most recent Iron-Blooded Orphan models in […]
lmao awesome! i love the surprised Syd part when Todd brought out the finished Graze Ein xD was that really not planned? if it wasn’t, you have some great acting skills Syd. more power to you guys and waiting for the Shizuoka Hobby coverage and for more episodes!
Great episode as always.
It would be great if you opened up that box for us Ryan. Like to see what TakaraTomy made out of this Masterpiece!
Would be cool to see something different from IBO kits.
See you on the next episode!
I wonder if Bandai managed to fix the look of the GN Sword V on the RG 00-Quanta. It looked ridiculously flat on the other grades. So far I am not encouraged, although the rifle mode looks better.
I might get the Grimgerde even if it gets upgraded in season 2. I want to see what they do with the Barbatos in the fall before I get one. I only want to get one Barbatos.
Interesting choice on the 1/100 Barbatos 6th form, giving it 2 maces. Where’s the sword? Hi-Res is priced at PG range.
For that price I believe Bandai should have done a PG barbatos instead of the high res, but, we also have to admire them for trying new things.
I want to see that Zoid assembled, go for it Ryan!!!
graze eins sneaking slowly from under the table
and Syd kept on talking about how tall it is,
how dark its colors are, blah blah…
then realizing Tod already built one.
— hilarious!!! haha
After five years, and a few extra weeks, HobbyLink TV is proud to bring you Gunpla TV Episode 200. A lot of planning went into this special episode, which was then discarded in large amounts due to the time […]
Hmmm… I don’t know if I’m early or what but first, congratulation for the 200th episodes!!! I watched you guys since the beginning and y’all have improved a lot.
It’s the first episode of gunpla tv that I watched since a 2 month long hiatus. (Cegep got in the way 🙁 ) It’s good to be back!
I’m not real sure about entering the competition since I’m very broke ( I just paid my tution fee and some additional summer courses.) I don’t think I’ll even have the money to get a model kit since I’m investing into a computer for studying engineering in university!
Anyways, glad to see you guys all healthy and keep up the good work! 🙂
It’s crazy how much time and effort you’ve put into Gunpla TV, the prices were way beyond what I could expect!! Not only that, the humurous video shows real dedication as well, haha! “Which one is Syd, and which one is Ryan?”, my favorite line from the skit. xD
Even though I didn’t win anything, getting recognized by receiving a consolation prize/coupon (whatever it may be) felt really appreciating, especially as a viewer that constantly follow the show like an eager dog. I hope you guys continue the show for as long as possible, and I also hope Syd’s wife doesn’t get jelly of (Syd’s second wife) the PG Unicorn.
Congrats on finally reaching the big TWO O O. Hope you guys keep going for another 200 more or maybe you shouldn’t because you guys keep making me spend money on kits. Any way looking forward to seeing the custom contest, too much talent for me to even think about entering.
Great episode guys! Was on the edge of my seat for the V2 prize but sadly no luck. Then again I already got lucky with the MG Gundam X on sale. Thanks for all the episodes and great fun, already looking forward to 201!
Congrats on making it to episode 200! I never realize how much work it took to make this Milestone episode. Props and Kudos. Keep on doing what you guys do best!
Well i didnt win, but it was still fun watching, i thought your first few “Chapters” were hilarious especially Todd’s initiation, good work guys and here’s to 200 more.
To be honest i didnt like how the prizes were given out. Bundles for only 10 people didnt seem fair to me. Could have stretched that out and let more people win even if they already have a kit; they would have been grateful.
The episode itself was ok. Some funny parts but i thought hlj was in Japan. All i saw were white folk. Haha.
Congrats on your 200. Ive been watching since the very beginning and enjoy your efforts, though i have never won anything ever which is a bummer.
Congrats to those who did win.
We are located in Japan and staffed by a large, diverse crew! All the folks who made appearances in this episode were included because they’ve been involved in some way with Gunpla TV or hobbylink.tv. Thanks for watching!
To Syd for creating such an awesome program, Newest team member Todd for the in-depth analysis of each new kit and Ryan for umm.. ahhh..
Kidding we all know just how much Ryan does behind the scenes as well as his onscreen cameos. (The Stan Lee of GunplaTV) Thank you guys soo much for the last five years of exceptional entertainment and information.
Can’t wait for the upcoming Comp. So many colour combination ideas. Hmm… Dark Barbatos maybe…
Congrats 200 episodes! Love your regrettable acting! Hilarious. I imagine Syd having tea with his best buddies unicorn everyday, not just for the show. Thanks for all the give-aways. Everyone got something! hopefully a discount code for next purchase. Looking forward to 201!
Thanks for this episode guys, and no wonder my Gunpla addiction has increased since I’ve been watching you, you have amazing dedication!!! Also, thanks for deciding that everyone is a winner, whatever it may be, really appreciate it!
blindside! wake up on a sunday and ep 200’s been out since friday? got me good on that one…
awesome 200th, Gunpla TV team; the festivities were much enjoyed!! the blooper segments lol’d me especially hard. good times, and congrats to the winners!
I grew up on macross so it’s always nice to see a model kit.
A plane with arms and legs never seizes to be silly looking.
i have a transformable kit in small scale. not in bigger scale. kinda want one.
Ah, it’s good to have you guys back!
That Macross kit really looked flimsy, but I guess Syd was right. Better for it to fall apart than break. ^^
I always love Jets and Airplanes and that Macross is so awesome!!!
And as always, good show guys! 😉
That’s some fragile plane!
Great episode.
I just got the first Macros Mecha Collection kit. I love how tiny (and cheap!) they are. Great show as always. I missed you guys.
great episode
nice episode guys
OR Gerwalk and Plane mode only?
i hope to win the secret price…:D
This macross seem nice… But nahhh I’ll just stick to gundam.
That Macross kit transformation looked almost as complicated as the MG Delta Plus and V2 ver Ka!
Wonder what that mystery kit is hmm
Another Mystery kit…. I…. WANT… THAT… KIT….!!!!
Great episode and hope to win the secret price !!
Psyched for the new IBO designs, but I think I’ll wait for some awesome 1/100 kits.
I sure do love me some Macross kits, I need to get one of those walkrie stands to go with that.
I wonder what the surprise kits will be, I’m so excited, I hope I win at least one lol
Keep up the great work guys, I look forward to your videos every week.
i kinda agree, as much as I love the Macross kits, putting them together and transforming can be flimsy as heck
Loving the new IBO designs, and another great episode guy’s.
Those new Build Fighters look awesome! Great episode guys!
Good to see you guys made it back safe and sound. Hopefully you’ll come to New Zealand Comicon next year and give the gift of reasonably priced Gunpla 🙂
Some say he builds life size cities with Pla-Plate, others say he didn’t transform the Macross kit correctly, all we know is, he’s called the Todd.
You guys missed a great Those Gundam Guys panel at AX. Luckily, I recorded it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qq9-AsFPDU
Watching Todd try to transform the kit made me cringe..too many falling parts 🙁 Then again, that is to be expected from a transforming kit!
Looking forward for the new GBF Try season and the new kits
Don’t worry guys, with Pokemon GO as big as it is, we will all be working with Metric sooner or later.
i still wanna win
keep up the good work fellas
YEY I MISSED YOU GUYS
Welcome back. Really excited about the new upcoming kits.
After seeing that review of the macross, I’m too scared to get one.
I was very excited about the prospect of getting a Macross kit that transforms, but after seeing how fragile it is I’m now on the fence about getting one.
Solid episode, fellas. Glad you had fun at AX! And that Macross Delta kit looks amazing…and I don’t even watch the show!
Perfect practice makes perfect.
Spoken like a true fellow martial artist.
Welcome back!!! looking forward to seeing those kits!
finally you guys are back!!! everyday i get on i look to see if there’s a new video and today is the day lol, can’t wait to see all the new things you guys will be bringing out after the expo!
Sid, the best In-n-Out stories begin with “it was 1am and I may have been drinking…” Take it from another Cali native
I need the Sinanju already! It’s the only thing I’m looking forward to. Dx
Really like Macross kits but no room left for me to start getting them lol.
What you did for all the Todd entrance was quite nice well done.
This is a secret comment for a secret kit.
The fact that you decided to give away a third kit is just another example of why i keep coming back this channel/website because of my love for gunpla. You guys are the best, supplying us with information on the new gunpla to giveaways. Thanks!
Welcome back, thanks for the episode…was looking for a fix lol.
Welcome back guys! Glad you enjoyed yourselves!
The TROOPER! Some Maiden love!
For the stickers on the macross kit, maybe the pieces still had mold release on them ?
I really like the Macross kit. Its so cool that it “Blue” me away XD Honestly this is just “Plane” awesome! Anyways, good job guys; keep up the good work ^_^
Todd has a lot of patience. I would have broken the Macross trying to Transform it. It looks nice but id be afraid of breaking the kit

welcome back to the Japanese diet 😛 #eatmoregunpla
I can’t believe Ryan almost forgot his spiel! Going to America made him lose his edge!
Looking forward to your review of the HGBF Scrambled Gundam!
I don’t usually collect Macross kits but the 31 air frame looks so cool I might just need one anyway. Great episode as usual.
Can’t wait for the Build Fighters Try kits, also wondering what the secret kit is.
gimme gimme
welcome back, and another great episode 🙂
Transformable kits:the bane of my builder career
I ve built few of this kits. to be truth its not an easy kit. The instruction quite hard and the transformation is very difficult especially the full armor messiah because of all the armament. But its an injection kit. Its not suppose to be play but to display with proud. End result Bandai realy did a good job with macross kits but perhaps they would make the transformation a bit easier.
Mystery kit is mysterious!
cool ep cant wait for the 1/100 trooper
It was great seeing you guys at the Anime expo. I am still sad I missed out on buying that shadow fox from zoids. Unfortunately it is backordered right now but when it is available I will buy one.
I am now a fan of this channel. Looking forward to the next video and have a great week.
Stay awesome!
That Macross kit look awesome, really looking forward to the Draken one!
Scrambled ? Lupus ? Surely they are not that desperate for names ! These ones are terrible !
Glad to have you guys back. Great episode I was really curious about the new Macross kits.
What is the mystery prize? Thank you!
Man that delta kit looks nice but very flimsy. It’s almost here rg heaven will we get a live feed pleae
Welcome back! As much as I love gunpla, it’s always nice to see other kits like Macross shown. Keep it up!
I finally got my very second gunplay ever 1/144 G-self this is becoming a very addictive hobby time to build agyan lol
Great episode guys. Every time I see one of those Macross kits it brings me back to the Robotech game I used to play on my Gamecube all the time.
Keep up the good work and looking forward to next episode’s kits!
The Todd Lol
still waiting for the plamo competiton announcement
they will apply? is it too late to comment on the last vid then?
Awwwww yisssss
Welcome back guys! Now give me something! 😉
Congratulations on your trip and safe return home, I would like the super secret prize please.
Seeing the Macross kit makes me wanna watch the anime.
Nice little looking guy with that local type.
Welcome back guys.
I like macross kits.
I BACKKKKKKK
Todd was emotionally scarred by that broken piece, i could see it in his eyes.
Oh myyy, the FA Thunderbolt is amazing.
Lol that Macross kit falls apart almost as fast as the US will after the next election 😀
bloop
i wonder what could be the 3rd prize, could it be something from syd and ryan’s trip?!
same. I wonder what the prize is. Hope it’s good and congratulations to whoever wins it.
The Local type Gundam is love! I must get one and do some weathering
Nice episode.
Are you going to shown video from your trip?
I tried IN-N-OUT before, I don’t think it is anything special. Sometime the line can be quite long.
I want to get some Macross kits, but I know I’m not gonna have a good time with them. My experience with transforming Gunpla has been pretty bad.
Sticker Hell…
I have seen other modellers handle it much better in youtube, whatching this make me feel afraid of the one I have in my private warehouse. this does not look enjoyable at all.
damn… I want a Macross kit now. >:I
Time to get Shaggy and Scooby in on this mystery!!!
Great show guys, im thinking of picking up a macross kit or two now. Keep it up.
Random mystery price giveaway. Sounds cool
Hi guys thanks for the review, after seeing the show i decided to glue some parts to help it stay together. Thanks for the info.
