Syd and Ryan find an excuse to continue their Star Wars talk from last week and show you some newer High Grade kits. We also introduce Plum’s Pla-act Sen series with some help from our friends.
Thanks for the episode guys. Even though the seed/destiny anime isnt really liked, in my opinion this series has some of the best gundam designs. Destiny gundam being my all time favorite
I don’t know about anyone else, but speaking as someone who hasn’t seen the series, the SEED designs in general are kind of boring. For the longest time I couldn’t tell the difference between the Freedom/Destiny/Strike Destiny designs. (I still can’t, really.) That said, I’ve come to appreciate the basic Strike and the Zaku redesign. The side story designs – Astray, Stargazer, etc. – are generally good, too.
Although up until recently Reconguista made little sense plot wise, I’ve found myself enjoying it and for the most part I’m a fan of the mobile suit designs. While they represent my least favorite of the suit designs even the Recten and Recksnow have a certain old school charm, reminds of Robbie the Robot lol. I’m hoping Bandai gives us lots of MG kits – that’s my preferred scale – from this series.
Great show guys! Built my own GM Cardigan around a month ago, those shields were a pain to build but the amount of cool poses you can pull of is totally worth it
The Justice, Infinite or otherwise, is one of my favorite Gundams, so needless to say, I hope Lady Luck and that random # generator take that into consideration.
Hope I win! Congrats to the winners really wished I won that strike rouge, btw if you were to win the giveaway how would info be transferred to get the model?
loved the ep. guys thought the girls made a great audition and should do the show more, great info on the star wars newspaper and the plum models. I am like u and dislike the last to gundam series but love build fighters. Can you build us a custom creation Gunpla would be cool.
Liked the GM Powered Cardigan, never realised that it could be customised man. Hey Sid, thanks for showing it to me! Now wanting to get that GM along with the Wing Zero or Infinite Justice.
If Bandai starts making more army building figures from different movies/series (i.e. Storm Trooper), I’m hoping they’ll make the Kerberos Squad from Jin-Roh.
I never get lucky to get a giveaway. It’s already new year now, I hope my luck will change. By the way… i’m from Indonesia. Do you know that the word “jahanam” in Indonesia means “bastard”? Hehehe
Do you guys ever build dioramas? I’ve been debating on taking on the task but I still have a couple of kits to build from the holidays. Also, those are some sweet giveaways this week.
I’m glad you guys showed off those Pla Act kits, I now have a few kits I need to add into my warehouse soon! Mostly cause I’m a huge fan of the Sengoku Basara anime.
Question for Syd and Ryan; If you could turn one kit into an actual suit that YOU get to pilot, what would you chose? (doesn’t have to be from Gundam)
The MG Infinite Justice was my first MG ever about 3 years ago. I ended up re-buying it a week ago and built it again. Just as fun as the first time. Highly Recommend it.
nice episode Syd and ryan. The G-reconguista kits are looking better and better with each new release. I also just built the Sword impulse and I made sure to make him look nice just for you syd. And it looks badass with a nice gunmetal frame and flatcoat ontop.
I think people react harshly because it’s not just one or two designs that are out there; EVERYTHING in there is abnormal in one way or another. The G-Self looks Gundam-y, but it doesn’t have the traditional V-fin. Other suits are too monotone. Others don’t have proper feet. The Grimoire looks pudgy. The transforming suits look awkward. Etc. etc. etc.
Personally, I really dig almost all the designs. The Jahannam and Grimoire especially look suitably imposing and adorable, respectively. And the feetless ones remind me of ZoE’s orbital frames, which is never a bad thing.
I Started watching Build Fighters Try and then realized there was a series before that haha. I’m happy Fumina switched to the SD Winning Gundam. I felt the Cardigan was to bland and boring for a main character’s Gunpla.
I like the look on those new pla act kits! Thinking about getting them.. Anyways awesome episode.. I remember you posted the picture of the powered GM cardigan on facebook the same time I was done with my GM.. Looking forward to next episode.. And hopefully I win the tsubasa!! Lol
After building the Grimoire myself I’ve started calling it’s colour a “liquorice brown”. The Grimoire has taken itself to my top 3 MS designs in Gundam along with the Z’Gok and the Turn X.
Ryan don`t bother watching the Reconquista series, it`s not worth ANYONE`s time.
As for the Oda & Sanada kits, they look really good, but why are they so expensive ? They look like HG`s, what am I missing here…
Plum and other small players necessarily have to charge more to recoup their losses. These kits are also understandably more niche than your typical Bandai HGs, so they have more of a “collector’s item” quality to them.
Nice episode everyone 🙂 enjoyed the Star Wars newspaper bit as well, Powered GM Cardigan looks like a Thunderbolt type of Mobile Suit, wish Fumina would have kept that suit in the anime, it’s awesome! It would be cool if Bandai made a kit for Boba and Jango, those would be fun to have, cant wait for the next episode.
great episode as always, thanks ryan and syd. i agree with syd , grimoire is really really cool. i need to build one of those kits. but while i’m waiting for grimoire winning one oh those give away will be really appreciated! 😉 😉 😉
welp im just gonna keep repeating myself till i get some kind of answer xD
I got a question for Syd: Is there any way to de-color a colored effect part? (like a Gouf 2.0 heat-sword or the flames of the Build Burning Gundam)
Not sure if you’ll bother checking the comments for responses (you clearly didn’t last time), but to repeat:
—
The Gouf 2.0 heat sword is molded in clear orange, so the short answer is “No, unless you’re willing to lose the transparency.” The long answer:
Since the effect isn’t achieved via a special coating, the only way you can get rid of the effect is to paint over it. This will lose the transparency.
Alternatively, you can create a silicone mold of the part and recast it using clear resin. Problems with this method include, among other things, the recast part sometimes being just a smidge smaller than the original (due to vulcanization effects during the casting process) which leads to fitment issues.
All those MGs would look great next to the ones I already have and built. That Infinite Justice would go really well with my MG Strike Freedom [Full Burst Mode] though.
Very glad you are back to posting regularly!!! Though I must ask, should I really invest in the PG Unicorn if I never plan to get the LED’s???? also it would be awesome if i could pick up one of the kits your giving out!!! I just put together the Full armor Unicorn and loved it!!
Just like last week I would love to win all of them to get something bigger than a 1/144 hguc in my collection. Wish me luck, and good luck to everyone else!
Another wicked episode , I am loving the stromtrooper kits and its gotten some mates of mine building kits for the first time. More awesome give a ways you guys rock 🙂
I can’t stress enough how awesome it is of you boys and girls to make regular episodes this soon again. And knowing you are very busy right know is even more impressive! Respect!!!!
Syd, I was wondering because you showed the Infinit Justice, did your top 5 of MG’s changed the last few years?
And with all those Thunderbolt HG’s and other HG’s you’ve build over the years, what is your top 5 of HG’s?
And I have to ask with all those cool posters, are you going to do a little contest for us to win some posters again?
LOL nice omake clip at the end :)) would like to get the mg inf justice > <; I got surprised last year in my tumblr feed that HLJ liked my post about the Panzer IV platz kit for Girls Und Panzer. I followed HLJ immediately after!
I wish you guys would feature figure and toy reviews again. Though regular gunplatv would be awesome.
Please God of gunpla let me get that infinite justice gundam, I love that gundam. I was going to get it from my local hobby store but they ran out. Oh God please!!!
Eventually I’ll get the RG Wing Zero EW, and then I’ll probably make 90% of the parts white, I think that makes it look awesome ^^ kinda like the prototypes
Great episode. I wanted to pick that Cardigan, now I want it even more. Because I know it’ll be fun(ny) building it. Pieces falling off all over and stuff like that. 🙂 Poor Jim… Anyway, I’ve had that chicken Wing in my stash for over a year now and it’s still waiting on it’s turn for the paint booth. Even got a good set of decals from Samuel just for him. For me, bad stickers just won’t do. I’m actually looking forward for the Providence myself. It would be much easier to take apart and paint it.
Great eposide as always guys..good to see SYd is doing a very hardwork on all the new kits..cant wait to see new star wars kit..just got my xwing fighter from u guys but maybe after I build my PG u guys
Great Episode always Syd and Ryan. Can’t help but to look at the GM Cardigan
every few seconds,it just so protrude with shields spread opened.
Syd and Ryan every time i see the new girls the first think that pop into my mind is “is syd and ryan going to retire soon?” So are you guy retiring soon?
Love it when there’s inventory hahaha. would really love to win any of those,it would be great to start of the new since I’ve never won anything before hahaha
Nice! I’ve been wanting to get another Providence Gundam! I really liked that kit when I built it years ago!
Either of those MGs would be nice too! ^^
Plug my YouTube channel if I win! ZakuAurelius!
That’s~ youtube.com/zakuaurelius
This show is like crack for me. As soon as the episode ends, I am itching for the next. I am picky about my kits, but I love to see what others are working on.
The box art and manuals for the kits — and the images on the product page on hlj.com — show how nice they can look with a little paint job and some shading. I’ll look forward to it if you get one and get it painted! Be sure to post it up in the groups!
So you guys didnt get the new RE yet? Shouldnt it be out in sale in 2 days?
About Pla Act kits. Not very fond of them by the looks. I love the details on inner frame of Bandai MG kits but those kits are just plain. Some HG’s have better pseudo inner frame than those.
When I heard that the winner for the Aile Strike was named Adam, I was like “Did I put my real name in the comments by accident?” and got excited….. until I found out it wasn’t my comment. I am sad now.
I love those accessories in the gm cardigan. Too bad it got scrapped in the show… For a friggin SD!?… Anyway I can’t wait to see the new RE/100 and I hope to win in that giveaway!
I have to say, I never liked the GM Cardigan in the anime but the kit looks really awesome! Have to add that to my long list of Gunpla to get around to possibly buying.
Good to see you guys again! Nice review btw but I hope to see plastic model kits with a more radical mecha design from Bandai or some other manufacturers.
Star Wars hype! Wish more countries would have a Star Wars newspaper.. Also a question for you guys. Do you think it would be easy to kitbash a Gundam model with a Star Wars model like the Stormtrooper? Really want to try it but I haven’t kitbashed before so I’m afraid it might be a bit difficult. Great show as always and keep up the good work!
I’m still watching G-reco even if I don’t understand half of what is actually happening most of the time. Are you also watching build fighters try syd? If you do what do you think of that compared to G-reco?
Clear coats CAN damage a paintjob, though, if you’re using a type of clear coat that reacts chemically with whatever paint you’re using. Always do some research to make sure you don’t accidentally strip or crack your own paint job. A good way to test is to paint and clear-coat a piece of unused runner beforehand and check for any defects.
Here’s throwing my name in the raffle. Best of luck, everybody.
A question: Others have asked as well, and you might have already answered in a previous episode, but where/how do you get those posters? And is there a possibility of including them in any giveaways, or even making them their own giveaway?
Hi Guys, Hobby Ninja (french builder and youtuber), it will be an honor for me to complete this beautiful kit that is the Infinite Justice. I’m a big fan of Gundam Seed and Seed Destiny. Thanks for everythings. Long life to Gunpla Tv. Love you guys. Bye.
hope I win! and a quick question do you guys have any news on what happen to rrobbert184 (one of the guys you sponsor on youtube) I was just curious if he is just taking an extremely long break or if he is done with reviews and gunpla?
He’s still doing reviews, just not in video format anymore, it seems. He regularly posts review blogs on here, covering a wider variety of kits/figures/etc. than just plain ol’ gunpla.
Great episode guys, and gals!
The GM Cardigan is awesome. Really fun HG. I have a thing for grunt suits, and although it’s not exactly a grunt suit, the design is there and it looks great.
I just got the EZ-SR kits (yes, 3 of them) and they are probably my favorite BF designs so far.
As usual, thanks for the episode, and looking forward to the next one!
A very calm episode I must say, but it got exciting with the giveaways. But as always thank u. @syd I was wondering if u can tell me what kind of paint u used for the frame of ur PG unicorn. Looking forward for next episode.
I love the grunt version of the Jahannam, but I can’t stand the shininess of the Klim Nick version. This suit looks great in the anime, although not as good as Mick Jacks Hecate which is awesome. Perhaps if this suit fails to earn a MG release I’ll paint one up. Anyways glad to see you boys back and thanks for the MKIII reminder!
Ahhh… i didnt build any gundam for 2 years… wanted to get my hands on the unicorn maybe in 2020.anyways, lots of new kits have arrived.. can’t wait to see the next episode.
Welcome back guys, been building with your show in the background since before Ryan was on camera and its nice to have something new to watch while i finish off the Christmas haul.
That Grimoire is definitely on my list now. Metallic paint with one of those lbx metallic markers for panel lines! I’m actually digging the direction of Reconguista! It is officially a sequel to UC and it looks like they took the evolution approach (ie cars 50 years ago and now). Probably gonna have a shelf filled with GSelf variants
Great show. Loved the MG Wing Gundam zero. I would love to have another as I made the one I bought as a tribute to my grandma when she had passed. I finally was able to get the PG unicorn w/ the LED’s gotta start on that right away. Love the show. You guys are awesome.
Ohh nice! it’s always great when you bring more staff into the episodes! We want to know them all! That Cardigan looks beefy!
Waiting to see your take on the second RE100.
Great like always . Star Wars is king . And the lady’s need to relax like at the end that had me lol in my break room at work everyone looked at me . Hope I win a kit later
I love the girls segment! I’m a girl Gunpla builder as well and its really refreshing to see other girls into the hobby as well. I hope this segment stays, great show as always guys
You aren’t missing much; most Gundam series are either too dated or just bad.
There is some good stuff like 8th MS Team & Unicorn is pretty good if you do manage to sit through MSG, Zeta and Char’s Counterattack – otherwise you’re bombarded with references from past evets in the Universal century. Build Fighters is probably the most honest gundam series (buy gunpla) and has some of the best fights in the franchise (Wing Gundam Fenice vs Build Strike is gold).
HI guys had a great new years hope you all had a good new years. Received my 1/60 Perfect Grade Gundam Astray Red spent a few weeks building it to pass the time waiting for more gunpla episode waiting now to receive my 1/60 Perfect Grade 00 Raiser when will they be back in stock
Nice episode once again, guys (specially the part near the end LOL)! Looking forward to next week’s episode 😀
I hope Bandai releases Reconguista MG kits this year and not just HGs. Though I guess we’ll get new UC kits too for the upcoming Gundam the Origin movies so that would also be something to look forward too 😀
Woah Another huge list of comments! Great show as usual. I am not finding a lot of interesting Gundam left that I need to build so I got Millennium Falcon and Boba Fett’s ship to build and get painted. See you next episode.
Another Great Show Syd and Ryan ! Hope you find out who is the girl from the Star Wars Newspaper ! lol !
Gotta love Infinite Justice ! Wing Zero is one of my fav!
the MG Infinite Justice is on my wishlist!!! speaking of wishlist, i think it would be nice if HLJ had a wishlist feature 😛 awesome episode and looking forward to more.
Hi Syd and Ryan! I’m not that guy that likes HG kits because they are quite small, giggidy. But I must say that Grimoire and Powerd GM looks great! It surprises me that the HG line is getting better and better. Also a fantastic episode like everytime! Keep making the episodes, and the LADYS of course!
(=゚ω゚)ノ
Gunpla Tv Episode 164 #InfiniteJusticeFTW i hope i win i only have three gunpla and 2 are trashed so if i won i’d be the happiest kid ever if i win thats Syd and Ryan. But i hope you guys have nice kits this year good luck.
Great Episode guys!! Just had a question, how do you guys get such amazing posters? Are they available to order or buy?? Thanks again for a great ep and giveaway!!!
Good episode as always guys. Though I hope I win the MG Wing Zero cause I really want to get into custom Gunpla and I dare to do that to my first one or the replacement cause I felt I botched my first Wing. Here’s hoping!!
I know how you feel I’ve been here for a while and still haven won anything. It’s just the luck of the draw, but the show is something that is still entertaining to watch
I always seem to be last comment, I actually have the RG-Justice coming in a few days now, that Infinite Justice looks great! Another great episode guys!
Don’t diss Syd he and Bryan do an awesome job bringing the show week to week. Would love that infinite justice, since Bandai left us without an RG version.
After many headaches I have accepted that when I model I have to keep my cat in a different room. Otherwise no matter what he feels the need to interrupt and cause chaos. After catching him chewing on an important piece to a $100 model I came to terms with this.
Love the show guys. been watching many of your pass shows and now I really want to get back in to model kits, even picked out my next couple of projects from the models you have shown on your show. just wanted to say great job and keep up the good work guys.
so many comments haha i really dont know when your vids are gonna come up haha, any ways awesome as always, can i have one of the posters at the back specially on ryan’s side the wing zero thanks haha
Japanese yen dropped, same time Australian dollars dropped as well, so sad, nothing changed to Australian people. Ryan, when will you back to Melbourne?
I really dig the PLA Gate pieces. I will get a couple to check them out! As always totally enjoy watching you guys (and girls). I will ask again in case i get chosen. Can you guys give us a replay of the best stuff from last year? I just started getting in to gunpla in nov.
Those plum kits are interesting, but I’m not a fan of gluing. I have a question. Do you think mixing black enamel with brown enamel will give me a good rusty type panel wash? Good show as always
Rust tends to develop on the panels themselves, not the space between them. If you want to achieve a rust effect, you’ll want to paint the panels in addition to giving a “rusty” panel wash. You might want to check out “salt chipping” for getting a nice rust effect.
Painting panel lines rust-brown by itself won’t do much more than painting them any other color.
I’m not to keen on the reconguista series either, but so far the grunt suits are looking really great. I just hope that someday bandai will release the MGs kits of these series.
I am somewhat sad that you chose to give away the Justice Gundam. Even thought I do not own one, it is probably one of the most amazing suites I ever seen. Right there with the Saviour gundam from the seed destiny series. I Hope the saviour gets an MG in the future, but I plan to get the Justice in the future.
Keep up the amazing work guys, Love the show. Zonnza (zon – n – za)
A combination of all that and more. Styrene is all-around standard building material; sheets and rods in varying sizes and thicknesses will do you well. Putty is great for filling holes or sanding into shapes. Resin, along with silicon molds, are great for replicating parts once you’ve created them.
The best route is to get an idea what you want to make, then roughly plan out what might get you to that finished product the fastest. Hope that helps.
Hi guys loved the episode as usual. My Nightingale arrived last week can’t wait to finish it. Though I have no idea where I’m going to put it after. Also I would love to win a kit would prefer the wing but hey free gunpla Its not going to matter what it is.
MG all the way. The RG doesn’t really offer any significant advantages over the MG, and it suffers from the same problems as the rest of the RG line; that is to say, its MG-esque complexity in a smaller size threatens the overall stability and joint strength of the kit.
Wholly smokes, already 600+ comments, competition is getting tough. However given the sweet rewards this episode I can understand why.
I agree with the feedback on Syd building the PG Unicorn in 8 hrs. It’s taking me so much longer. Really looking forward to that first flick of the LED light switch.
Have you had any response yet on LED hacking? Interested to see if anyone has come up with a different lighting pattern.
Thanks for all the shows guys, keep them coming and I’ll keep watching.
Just wondering do you think with Gundam Build Fighters will go on like Yu-Gi-oh and other series like it. I think it has the ability as it suits the trend of customizing that is growing in the gunplay community. It also finally lets people see matches between their favourite suits.
But great show as always and the latest RE build was great to watch. Am waiting for the GP-04
Hey guys, I don’t know if my question has been reviewed/answered in a earlier video or not, but I was curious as to why you guys don’t sell the p-bandai online exclusives. With releases like the MG Tallgeese III and HG Pale Rider I would love to simply order them from HLJ but as you don’t seem to do p-bandai items I was just curious
I don’t know if they can. There are likely legal matters which disallow them from buying Bandai kits at retail and marking them up for resale.
If I understand it correctly, most of those companies that do sell P-Bandai kits operate from China/the US/Korea/etc., outside Bandai’s (and, more importantly, Japan’s) economic jurisdiction.
How does it only take you 5 hrs to build a PG?! Between cleaning parts, sanding and shaving down nubs and shaving away runner lines a single limb on an MG can take me 5 hrs!
If you watch the Unicorn build videos, Syd doesn’t bother fine-trimming/sanding/etc. the pieces. Clip, a quick knife swipe if needed, then snap snap snap.
Syd and Ryan by far everything you two have done has been awesome. I just got done building my hg fenice renicista and mg ew heavyarms. I want to finish all the mg endless waltz kits and move on to seed and seed destiny and astray series. I really want to get the astray noir. Thank you guys and keep on rockin!!!
just found out about Gunpla TV. Watch all 164 episodes during one whole week. love the little tips Syd does when going through new Gunpla kits. Thanks so much. The water decal ep especially.
Just found out about Gunpla TV. Watch all 164 episodes. Love the little tips Syd does when going through new Gunpla kits. Thanks so much. The water decal ep especially.
Hey Syd and Ryan, I was wondering if I ordered two kits at the same time on HLJ and one was back ordered and the other was not, would they be shipped at the same time(as in waiting until the back ordered kit ships to ship the other), or would the first ship like normal and the back ordered when possible? Great show guys, keep it up 🙂
This seems like a time-sensitive question, so I hope you don’t mind me answering for them. 😛
If you order both and choose to have them shipped as they become available, HLJ will bill you for and ship the in-stock item first, then the backordered item when it becomes available. You’ll essentially be placing two separate orders.
1.) Pay for Item 1 + shipping for Item 1. Item 1 ships.
2.) Wait for Item 2.
3.) Pay for Item 2 + shipping for Item 2. Item 2 ships.
If you order both and choose to place them in your Private Warehouse, HLJ will bill you for the in-stock item (but NOT charge you shipping). It will then place the item on reserve for up to 60 days. If, during that time, your backordered item comes in, HLJ will bill you for that backordered item, and that will also be placed on reserve (for its own separate period of 60 days). Once you have both items in your Private Warehouse, you can choose to ship them together. HLJ will then finally charge you shipping on both items, and then ship them to you.
1.) Pay for Item 1. Item 1 goes to Private Warehouse for up to 60 days.
2.) Wait for Item 2.
3.) Pay for Item 2. Item 2 goes to Private Warehouse for up to 60 days.
4.) Pay for shipping for Item 1 and Item 2. Item 1 and Item 2 ship.
Hope that helps clear things up a bit. Note that if the 60 days expires on Item 1 before Item 2 comes in stock, you’ll be charged shipping on Item 1 and HLJ will ship it to you regardless of Item 2’s status.
Hey guys! Great episode as always!! The PG Unicorn looks amazing! Still haven’t had time to do mine at all…But keep up the awesome work! Been working on my 1/100 Xi Gundam kit!
Bandai’s official decal sets often sell out EXTREMELY quickly, and they rarely re-issue them; once they’re gone, they’re gone for good. It’s a real shame. It’d be nice if they had an on-demand decal purchase system, even if just on their P-Bandai shop. (Cue scores of commenters telling me exactly that.)
That said, you can always go the aftermarket route and try out third-party decal makers. From what little I’ve read up on them from different hobbyists using them, they tend to be generally below Bandai standards, which themselves are fairly poor compared to even those waterslides offered in-box by companies like Hasegawa. Samueldecal tends to have a pretty good reputation, though. They (he?) even let you provide your own template, so you can conceivably create a waterslide set identical to Bandai ones.
After getting my lower wisdom teeth out this morning I had some free time to build the MG Hi-Nu Ver.Ka. It’s a pretty fun build with plenty of parts in the torso similar to the regular Nu Ver.Ka. Hopefully I’ll be able to get some more done tomorrow while I rest up.
Over my summer holiday so far I’ve finished the MG Sazabi Ver.Ka, MG Char’s Zaku II 2.0, and PG Unicorn + LED set.
Over all, I’d rate the PG Unicorn 11/10 and I’d build it…
Looks great! Thanks for posting a picture with the other scales of Unicorns. Currently still building mine, and I have to agree with you, it’s a really great and fun build. But the cleaning up and painting of all those parts…… Forgot how many pieces a PG has. I guess that’s what they call a selective memory. LOL
I like the new Intro and Credits. I really do enjoy the new mech designs and battles in this series but for some reason I feel like it doesn’t have the same magic that the first season had. Overall I’m looking forward to what the National tournament has in store.
Well as far as set up episodes its nice, opened way for a bunch of characters and its nice to see old one return . the new models are awesome (may or may not had bought em already) cant wait to see how this all amps up, i was eager to see a fight or two with the SD star winning but ill accept this episodes cuteness.
btw am i missing something on…[Read more]
he may be the old man’s grandson , who created team nemesis from season one. watch episode 20. he has the same hair and eyes and his name is Lucas soooo maybe
crossbone gundam full cloth makes its appearance ~!!! Lucas nemesis the little boy from gundam build fighters season 1 is totally badass~~~ would been nice if they atleast showed a battle scene of him annilating team white wolf.
After a busy December and a busy break where we were supposed to be recovering from the busy December, Syd and Ryan are back in the studio showing off some of the stuff they did while away from the office. They […]
Welcome back and happy 2015!
If the Dragoon stand was included with the MG Blue Frame D, I would have already picked up the kit. Other than that, the Red Frame stands supreme.
I am in love with that Storm Trooper. I’m excited for the kits coming out this year. That MKIII is on my list. Great show as always guys, whoever wins that painted build by Syd will be a happy camper. (fingers crossed)
I know you’re asking Syd, but in case he doesn’t get to it:
It depends on the color of the panel in question and the effect you want to achieve. For white/off-white/beige/etc. panels, most people tend to use some shade of gray; it accentuates the panel line and breaks up the panel without contrasting too sharply against the light backdrop. Black is usually only used if you want to get that high-contrast look.
On darker panels, you obviously need darker panels to effectively show the panel lines, so black is used for those.
But that, of course, is excluding the entire color spectrum one can use. Some people use similar colors for panel lining as the panels in question (ie dark green panel lining on green armor, dark red on pink armor, etc.). Others have used red/blue on white to great effect.
For the Unicorn, panel lining the whites in blue would give it a cool effect (cool as in temperature) in Unicorn Mode. Some of the artwork for the novels looked like this, I believe. Doing it in red would mirror the psycho frame. Grays and blacks would also work just fine, as they’re the standard go-to for this sort of thing. It’s really up to you. Hope that helps.
I’m loving the Astray D ;). I think its overall look is even cooler than the Red Frame and first Blue Frame. Those Strike MGs going to the lucky winner (me pls) look great too.
The blue frames are cool, for me it’s the color variance of the blue frames that make me swoon. The Orange, white and blue make for a better look than red, black and white. Still I’d like to see Bandai ignore the Seed line this year and focus on anything else – grunt suits from Unicorn, Wing and OO would make me happy as a lark.
Kicking the new year off with an Amazing start! Amazing Red Warrior! Was a little weary of PG Unicorn, but after seeing Syd’s build and other post on the r/gunpla subreddit. I will most likely be getting one when they restock in March.
Also hoping I can win that “Special” handjob from Syd! 😛
I was stoked when I received my PG Unicorn. It’s built now and I have to say it was really fun building it. I love the amount of work Bandai put into this. It’s now standing next to my PG Strike Freedom and they both make for a really snazzy display. All that’s left is to wait for my pre-order of the Full Armor Extension kit and then it’ll truly be a door stopper!
Welcome back..!!!! How i missed watching every week. Ayway goodjob with the pg unicorn.
Omygosh 2 strikes. Winning any of the 2 is going to be a godsend. *breathes heavily*
I liked most of this episode. I’m not much for Star Wars stuff, so that was a little bit of a lull in the discussion for me – but I’m sure those kits and figures sell well, so I respect the marketing effort.
When I was at the movies watching battle of the five armies. My friends and i were laughing and we almost got kicked out for laughing too much because how stupid the movie was
Everything from Build Fighters Honoo looks great. Here’s hoping that Bandai releases more from that series (looking at you Double X Stream and God Gundam Kiwami)
Awesome episode as always Syd and Ryan. You guys should talk about more nerdy things in the videos. The talking about the Hobbit was quite entertaining. I have a long haul a head of me because I only got into Gunpla a about a half year ago and I got a lot of kits for Christmas. I have a lot of building to do and might post the results.
Glad you guys are back.. Got the PG Unicorn and the LED Set from you guys. Awesome packaging… Done professionally. Looking forward to my next purchase with you guys. Lets hope i get something i didn’t buy ^_^.
1/100 MG Gundam Astray Blue Frame D, is one kit i definitely wanna buy now after seeing it with the duel sword set up, great video guys, and yes the hobbit movies could use some trimming, Also when did dragons not become enough of a threat to carry a movie.
Lol i already have the ootri pls dont send me another one of i win
>.<
On the topic of seed/destiny im curious on what your thoughts are. Despite the series not being like by many (even myself to a degree) im just in love with the gundam designs in the show(destiny gundam being my favorite) Perhaps because there are so many gundams in the series to choose from.
Hi Syd and Rye…
Happy new year…
And happy for me coz Bandai made the RG Gundam Wing specially for me LOL…
That blue frame D is like a Dragon…
Syd, tell your yellow sinanju I say happy new year okay…
Good to see a new Gunpla TV episode! Hopefully this will be another good year for Gunpla, looking forward to an MG Grimoire, I really love the design of that MS. Also, a free MG would be cool.
Happy New Year! It’s been a while since I’ve last seen an ep of Gunpla TV but I’m glad I decided to watch again. I’m excited to see how the PG Unicorn looks when your done Syd.
Great to see that you guys enjoyed your short break. Would you be able to show us what the mystery add on is for the Aile Strike next week before it’s shipped off? The surprise is killing me!
Happy New Year guys! Looking forward to your episodes for this year especially until Dec when Star Wars movie comes out and it will probably be a Star Wars movie Gunpla TV special episode! Hope to win any of the Strike MGs!
Nice show to kick off the new year. Bought the darth vader kit from Bandai as a gift for my father and got him into model kit building. Now he wants to purchase the rest of the bandai kits. Looking forward on getting the stormtrooper
I’ve been off and on with the Strike Gundam. It has a cool look but then again it doesn’t. I don’t know what it is about that Gundam that keeps bringing me back to it.
Happy new years, cant wait for the kits of 2015, do you think bandai will release the Gn 9999 Transient Gundam anytime soon?, btw you just spoiled hobbits for me jajaja.
Happy 2015!! It would be nice if my first comment on hobbylink wins me a professionally made MG! Looking forward to more great Gunpla episodes! Keep up the good work!
Not a huge Strike fan, but a free kit is a free kit!
And if I win you’re painted one, sorry Syd, but I’m gonna strip and repaint it cause I wanna change the colors! 😉
Mg ROUGE hahaha
guys any word on MG Dark Matter Exia release date?
Btw I’m going to get my own MG Banshee norm soon
good episode and i hope there’ll be more normal release MGs this year rather than those p-bandai bull 🙂
Hope you guys had a great new years and a great year to come. I would love to get either of those. Keep at it Cid and Ryan. Cid i cant wait to see the Finished baby of yours.
I asked a similar thing prior to its release. Molding the psycho frame in colorless clear, with different LED sets released in different colors to achieve the pink/green/gold/blue effects might not have been a bad idea…
So glad you guys are back!
I don’t mind all the new adaptations of movies. If they suck, they suck, and there’s no use getting bent out of shape over it. I can always hold onto that original, or whatever version I still love.
That stormtrooper kit will make for some awesome crazy custom builds (and the internet will yell at you for killing their childhood).
PG Unicorn was an awesome build (my first PG). The main rifle runner on mine had a lot of molding issues on the edges of the parts. Not a difficult fix. It looks sooo good up on the shelf, and seeing it light up is a total joy.
Happy New Year guys! Looking forward to Gunpla TV’s 2015 season!
For some reason I’m just not that excited for any of the Star Wars models. I love the first three movies but I am just not amazed by the stuff model wise. I guess I’m just happy sticking to robots/mechs.
Welcome back guys and happy new year.
First of all, I thank you for your awesome episodes. I just started this hobby last December of 2014 and this addiction is all thanks to you guys. GyaGyaGya
With the new GBFT kits, I’ll be a happy newbie this year.
And with all those new Star Wars Kits, the hype is ON! It’s ON!
May the Force be with us ALL!
PS: I hope they won’t ruin my childhood with the new movies.
Hey Guys, Nice to see you back for 2015. You are completely correct the 3rd Hobbit was lame, they could have squeezed that book into 2 movies and it would have been long but real good. Ryan be careful about mentioning the Falcon going to start a “finish the Falcon” rant again from everyone, haha. Love to grab a Seed Kit.
2015 is going to be a lot of red. MG Build Burning, MG Wing Hoono, RG Red Warrior would be interesting. Most interested in the RE line, hoping to see some Mobile Armors and Ships.
Hello Syd and Ryan!!!! thank you so much for the show of 2014, it was all fun episodes i watched. Especially on the “comment to win a gunpla”, i really appreciate it, i look forward to 2015 for all the fun show!!!! thank you^^
The Gouf 2.0 heat sword is molded in clear orange, so the short answer is “No, unless you’re willing to lose the transparency.” The long answer:
Since the effect isn’t achieved via metallic coating a la the Titanium Finish/Pearl Finish/etc. special edition kits, you can’t just strip it down to the bare plastic. The only way you can get rid of the effect is to paint over it.
Alternatively, you can create a silicone mold of the part and recast it using clear resin. Problems with this method include, among other things, the recast part often being just a smidge smaller than the original (due to vulcanization effects during the casting process) which leads to fitment issues.
Strike, Strike rouge, enough about Strike lets talk about Strike!
Out of the PGs i’ve built and seen, the Strike is at the number one position. The Strike has trhe perfect design to become a PG, the suit itself has no attachments that hinder it in our gravity and the very open/exposed frame gives plenty of design room to add tons of visible detail and moving frame all over it.
Oh man, so much to love about the Strike mobile suits and the Astray frames that were based on them. Just love how they arent as blocky as UC suits or lean like Exia, just the right amount of awesome for all your laser firing missile blasting needs!
Happy New Year Hobbylink Japan! This year looks pretty awesome for Gunpla, looking forward to the RE/100 Mk-III, a lot of potential for custom work, keep up the great work, you guys got me and my brother into the hobby and continue to make it awesome, a big thank you from both of us 😀
Howdy Syd and Ryan! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year too. Astray Blue Frame D looks awesome especially with that custom action base with sword blitz effect parts. It’ll be next to my MG Strike Freedom, Nu verKa and HiNu verKa.
And by the way, those two Strikes looks good on my shelf. Gimme that! ^_^
The more I’ve seen of the Star Wars Trailer, the less excited I’ve become. The new trooper helmet design reminds me of Rorschach from Watchmen (the movie version at least). But the scene with the YT-1300 gives me the impression that it’s the camera moving around it rather than the 60+ year old freighter performing aerial acrobatics.
1. Hobbit movies – After seeing the first movie, I could see where PJ was going. So, I decided not to watch any of the movies after the first one.
2. I would love to receive either of these 2 MG kits.
Is it just me or has Bandai really shifted their focus more into the 1/144 scale range (especially with Build fighters going strong)? I’m an MG guy and I want more of these great kits I see in the HG/RG line to come to MG. I might just break down and start getting some 144s.
Bandai’s always released more 1/144 kits than 1/100 kits simply because of the lesser complexity required in their engineering. Japanese consumers also tend to gravitate towards the smaller kits because of their generally more limited living spaces (or so that’s what I hear).
Frankly, I’m still waiting on an MG Palace Athene. Chop chop, Bandai.
Oh believe me. I get why there re more 1/144 kits. That I get, but it just seems like there is such great possibility for these series to grow into the MG market as well. But, I guess I am just being greedy. I want all the kits to be in MG 1/100. Part of me feels guilty for really liking most of the bots from the Build fighters shows thus far, even some of the ones you only get to see for a few minutes.
personally I have no qualms whatsoever about the cross guards on the lightsaber. take it from someone who watched the original series, IMO its something new that I will gladly welcome for the new movie.
Happy New Year! So glad I got back into gunpla last year, and partly because of your shows. So thank you very much for that. And here’s to another awesome year of gunpla!
“2015 looks like it’s going to be a bumper year” – Syd. I’m hoping 2014 wasn’t that great in comparison to the prior year and I’m hoping none of them are Seed kits, enough is enough Bandai.
I loved seeing the frame of the unicorn PG. I think that would be an epic pic…all the PGs Frame only!
Red Astray Please.
Will you guys be getting more DMK 01 optimus priimes in? I noticed in an episode you said you were getting more bumblebee.
Here’s hoping for the Aile Strike and quite honestly Syd, I’d have to disagree with you, 2014 was actually a crap year for MG’s, save for a lot of re-issues with extra parts, all we really got were the Gundam X, Turn X and Hi-Nu Ver Ka.
Happy New Years guys. nice to see you all back on Gunpla TV. Hope this year will launch many sexy MGs like Tallgeese III and Burning Gundam. Frankly I kinda boring about kit from Build and G reco series, even though they get a ‘somewhat’ costumized wing zero in it but still bores me.
The TG3 is already available as a P-Bandai online exclusive, which means only Japanese customers can buy them, which means you have to go through a middleman, which means sometimes significant markups. Yay for you.
Nice to see you back in action! Got a lot of my “Syd Fix” the last month, but not my “Ryan Fix”, glad to get it finally! Thank you!
As for the movies…., in my opinion CG nowadays is less expensive then in the “old days”, so they tend to go overboard with it. It used to be actors that carried the movies along with a great script and a good director, but now it’s CG…
I don’t care as much for movies like that, I believe that “Less is More”. A great story line always beats CG, but hey, that’s me…
I still haven’t finished building my PG Unicorn, got the legs, waist and torso done (all painted, thanks to you Syd, did different colors on the back of the knees, vents of the skirt armor and ball joints on the hips), but so far it was a pretty sweet build. Just have the feeling it is missing something that other PG’s got. Maybe it’s the pistons in the feet, legs and arm pits…? Or maybe I’m spoiled. LOL
Sorry to bring this up, but you brought it up on yourself Ryan….
In episode 103 you stated that the Falcon would be done before the new Star Wars episode… Think you can hold your promise?
I’m looking forward in seeing that kit finished, as you did an excellent job thus far on it!
A little question for you my dear Syd.
Since when are you wearing a wedding ring? As I recall there was no ceremony involving a ring in Japan. Now you have one, you finally caved in? ROFL
Anyways, great having you back. Will continue supporting HLJ in 2015!!!
PS., if there is any chance the Mr. Number Generator picks me as a lucky winner, please contact Kethrenan on this blog. I would like to give the kit to him. He has seen a difficult year and I’d like to support him this way. Thanks
Nice! The Wing Gundam Zero Honoo looks awesome. I think I should start a collection of coloured wing Gundams, since I already have the Fenice Renascitta.
2014 was a slow year of gunpla for me.. but one part of my new years resolution is more time for model kits! so lets start it off right and win an aile strike!! hahaha
I love watching your show and hopefully I will be able to come to your store when I go to Japan when I get stationed there with the Air Force because I love everything about Gundam from Gundam 0079 to Gundam G no Reconguista
happy new year, guys! i’m happy to see the show back and i hope the regular schedule is back too. i actually built my first kit from hlj a week or two ago! i was very excited to get it. i’m hoping that this new year is full of gunpla for me, but it looks like it’s going to be full of more car repairs instead.
Awesome episode guys! The wing gundam hoono looks amazing. Can’t wait to buy that! The build fighters series is just awesome to me. Can’t wait for more kits.
For you, Syd, 2015 is a bad luck year. But for me, 2015 is supposed to be the year we get self-lacing shoes, hover boards, instant pizza and flying cars. I’m still waiting, science!
hope I win a strike and also I have a question to syd. you know you sometimes use an eraser to take off panel lines when you mess up? I do the same thing but when I paint my kits then panel line them it takes off the paint too. any suggestions?
What you want to do is clear-coat your kit after painting. Apply a layer of gloss coating to your kit after you’ve painted it; this seals the painting in so that anything you do above the gloss coat won’t affect it. It also helps the panel lining more easily follow the channels of the panel lines.
Once you’ve gotten panel lining down the way you want it, apply another clear coat. You can use either gloss (shiny) or flat (not shiny) coats, depending on what you want.
Happy new year guys!
Sid I wonder which metallic color you’ve used for the PG Unicorn frame. It seems slightly darker than silver but not so “yellowish” as Gun Metal.
Happy New Year , and shall it be named the year of Star Wars. Here is a question, what Gundam kit would you guys do if you were in charge(worked at Bandai) of doing a Ver. Ka or 2.0/3.0? Great episode as always and hope to see more awesome eipsodes.
I can’t wait to see that Unicorn with all the LEDs in without the armor! It’s gonna look really cool! I just wish I had the money to get my own.
(P.S. I LOVE the Strike Rouge.)
Hi!How come you didn’t talk about the MG Dark Exia?It supposed to come late February. And am also waiting for the RG Raiser to be up for preorder!
And lastly, please Random number generator, choose my number, lolz!
I really like this show and personally can not what for the new Wing Flame Gundam to build and customize,I am a huge fan of the seed and wing gundam eras. I would like to see a kit using those led’s in a different color set for the unicorn not a fan of the red.
Great episode and glad to see you guys back. The Unicorn looks great and hopefully i’ll be able to get my hands on one once HLJ gets them back in. I have a question about painting on the runners, how much flash/seam line issues did you run into? i paint and detail my frames since i feel they are not “complete” otherwise, and i sand lots of seam lines off when im cleaning the parts. I think that painting on the runner would make those flaws more pronounced, just looking for your opinion on that.
Great episode, have to agree with you on the movies, too much surface glitter and not enough substance. The colour combination on the blue frame is nice but with all those blades, seems a bit overkill to me and with them combined on the arms, it’ll have the same chance of shredding up it’s own backpack as it does enemies. PG unicorn looking awesome, can’t wait to see the LEDs fitted.
Welcome back Syd & Ryan I hope you guys had a great time with family over the holiays.
Star Wars is all about the money. If Lucas had thoughts to the contrary, the insane profits from merchandise made them fly away at hyperspeed to a galaxy far far away.
But at least with Disney at the helm you have a shot at a decent film, that frankly Lucas does not currently have the talent to produce.
Despite all those digs at Marvel, Avengers is today’s Star Wars. Most people aren’t going there to watch the CGI, the’re there to watch 60+ year old characters to tell their stories for the first time on the big screen. Hello infinity war, I have been waiting my life for you!
Also, can’t wait for that PG Unicorn. I was terrified of painting it, but it looks like that inner frame won’t be as big a nightmare as I thought.
Thanks again guys, look forward to the next episode!
Bandai’s truly improving their plastic. I build a PokePla Pikachu a while back for fun, and while it had no undergating, the way the parts were connected the nubs turned out almost unnoticeable if cut right, it was an impressive feat.
Even though I came here for the Gunpla I have to say that I love the Storm Trooper model. That thing was amazing. I have been a fan of Star Wars for a long time and even though I might not think of Star Wars kits when I think modeling if I had seen more like that I would definitely consider building a few.
Welcome Back HLJ Team, thank you for the points on the PG Unicorn and Looking forward to the new kit and reviews coming out this year! Wish to get my hands on that Aile strike. That is nicely done.. HAPPY 2015 to all gunpla fans.
My Unicorn is still in the box along with my RG Zero, I so want to build it already but we’re moving houses in a few weeks time. I don’t want to risk damaging them when we move.
Gundam aile strike I’d want it but I can’t Syd I’d love it please if I win I give you the best of 2015 and happy new year #Ailestrikeftw please and thanks if you’ve looked at my comment
Last year was a great year! I can’t wait to see what’s coming next in 2015. Since it’s the beginning of the year what would you guys like to see come out? I would personally like to see more Build Fighters stuff in Master Grade form.
I’m going to end up with a whole row of custom painted Stormtroopers, aren’t I? Oh well, there’s probably worse things I could be spending my money on. Like movie tickets 😛
For me, what peter jackson did with the fellowship of the ring (my favorite movie) earns him a lifetime pass. I didn’t really care for the hobbit series but he’ll always be the man to me. JJ Abrams does not have that honor, and if he screws up Star Wars I’ll go Darth maul on him. Ps love those strikes!
wooooo! coming back to building gundams recently with a pg release and such amazing MGs now i can’t wait to see what 2015 brings! and HLJ gonna show them all 😀
Happy new year guys! What do you two think or regonguista G ? I myself am not a huge fan of it, it’s labeled as a kid’s show but I’m having trouble on seeing it as one, specially because it’s a big mess. Thanks to you two for always making these videos 🙂
Yay, you guys are back!!! Been such a long time after the Wing Zero episode
OMG that Astray Blue Frame D!!! Must get one soon… 🙂
Hope to get the MG Strike RM, then I can recreate Perfect Strike!!! XD
Great episode to start the year.
Looking forward to see that PG Unicorn lighted up with the LED in the next episode.
On the other hand, I would like to have either of those two Strikes. ^_^
“Cross-fingers”
Guys, Thanks for showing us all those awesome kits on this episode.
Ryan, I’m with you on being a little scared about how the new starwars movie will turn out. Trailer looks great tho!
Syd, that PG unicorn framework is amazing. Thumbs up for Bandai and special thanks to you for showing us in detail.
Really want to order that Unicorn and LED set from you guys, but I’m kinda not cool with dropping $300 only to have to wait for over a month to get it. :/
The Strike Rouge is my favorite suit, though I still haven’t built one D:
I think I’ll start with the HG, then try to get my hands on the RG (somehow), then the MG with IWPS (right?) and eventually the PG! Would be cool to see them all lined up ^^
Syd, I REALLY like the colors you chose to paint the PG Unicorn inner frame. Can you share what colors and brands you used? Using that metallic finish makes the frame look incredible.
It would be an incredible honor to get your painted Strike. It truly looks great. Thanks!
Come on Mr Random, strike me, strike me! Wonder what surprise is in the box.
Welcome back from vacation and hope Syd fortune turns out wrong and he has a banner year.
Got the PG Unicorn sitting hear in the box, looking forward to starting it. Finishing up the MG v-Ka that’s taken a while to get all the detailing done. Hopefully this weekend the workbench gets to see the PG.
Looking forward to watching your show for 2015. Keep them coming.
The stormtrooper looks rather nice, though it’s disappointing to know that it doesn’t have much articulation. Not too big on the blue frame D. I am excited for the red warrior. Not a big fan of uc stile gundams, but that one is very good looking. Keep up te great work.
I been following your channel on YouTube since 2 weeks before christmas. I got my first kit for christmas which was MG Wing Zero Custom 1/100. I can honestly say your videos really help! Love the videos and btw that blue frame is epic!
Hey guys, sorry for posting twice I just really need to know… if i know right now that i will not get the LED unit for the PG Unicorn, is it worth it then? i can get the kit its self but I will not be able to afford the LED’s as well… and I will NOT be taking my unicorn apart to get the LED’s in there… so i have to ask: is it actually worth it if I am not going to get the LED’s???? I REALLY HOPE YOU REPLY TO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you have the MG kit and love it? If so then I suspect you’ll be ultra satisfied with an unlit PG kit. The kit still looks great. But if you know you can disassemble later to add the LED kit if you decide you have to have it. I believe Syd said the LED kit comes with instructions on how to do that.
I’d say that if you really like the Unicorn, have the regular MG kit and love it, then you’ll be happy with an unlit PG Unicorn too.You could always direct some UV LEDs onto it later to make the inner frame glow on it’s own. 🙂
Thanks man! I just finished building the MG full armor unicorn Ver Ka. and I really like it but I get frustrated with The transformation because of the head for the most part but i really am interested in the pg… i think that the Unicorn is one of my favorite MS, and as such I have the destroy mode HG as well as the banshee Norn banshe HG. I may even get the regular MG of the Unicorn. as well as at least one more Sinanju.. custom pain it possibly haha.
Another amazing year Gunpla and I have to say my most prosperous year of Gunpla yet. Thankyou Syd and Ryan for a great year of gunpla. Mg Strike. Mobile Suit Gundam Seed was my first ever gundam series so I will be after that. Hopefully it will be at my door steps and oh how I love surprises!
I just got into gunpla last year and came across your youtube channel. Love the stuff you guys do. I love MGs and hope to win one. PS I am interested it what this “surprise” is.
Great episode you guys. This may be slightly off topic but do you think we’ll get anymore PG kits from the Wing series? I’d personally love a PG Deathscythe hell custom or endless waltz version of Heavy arms. Thoughts?
Probably the closest you’re going to get for a while yet is this scratch build by a guy named MatX. He essentially takes a PG Wing Zero and modifies it into a Deathscythe Hell.
Bandai creates kits for a profit; unless those RG Wing kits sell like hotcakes or they do another WG anime (reboot or teardrop), Wing just isn’t relevant enough for bandai to invest in a series of Wing PGs.
Loving that Blue Frame. Nice to see something with so much done to it on offer as a reward as well. Either of those Strikes would make someone real happy.
1.) Painting on the runner simplifies matters, but you’ll be left with ugly unpainted nubs when you snip the part off the runners. Undergating mitigates (sometimes eliminates) this problem, but undergating isn’t very often used. That’s what Syd was trying to show off with his painted Unicorn inner frame; the feet and legs, which weren’t undergated, had ugly bare plastic showing, whereas the joints were undergated and thus that same bare plastic doesn’t show on the finished build. If your kit is undergated, by all means, go for it. Otherwise, off the runner is often your go-to route. (Besides, if you’re doing panel lining and hand-painting specific parts on HG kits and the like, you’ll have to do so off the runner away.)
2.) Spray guns offer better control, more even coating, and better bang for your buck in the long term. They are, however, a much more expensive initial investment. ($100+ for a spray gun/booth/pump/etc. versus $5 for a spray can.)
Here’s hoping I win those MGs. A couple questions:
– Are the giveaway MGs the Ver. RM/Ootori or the original Strike/Rouge? They look great either way, but I couldn’t tell which versions I was looking at…
– How many variations of the Astrays are there now? Red Frame, Blue Frame, Gold Frame, Civilian Astray are all the base versions I know of, but the Red Frame by itself has seen half a dozen releases with different backpacks/weapon packs/etc. Sheesh.
Welcome back guys.. It’s been a while.
That unicorn frames scream for mechanical detailing paint.
Welp, you review about the storm trooper does interest me..
Welcome back guys, that blue frame looks cool, even better than the first one. Still not sold on the pg unicorn tho. Both of those strike version mg’s are cool! “Cross finger”
foooyoo men! i will be grate full if i get the mg aile strike gundam build by professional gundam modelers like you syd for my second gundam collection hehehe.
Happy new years everyone. I loved the Hobbit: 5 armies, but I also didn’t read the Hobbit book, proving Ryan’s statement there. Only 5 days until my last semester of college starts, can I pull it off?
In response to your question about customizing the LED kit, I’m doing a custom build of the PG unicorn and I am going to make my own UV LED circuit that has a switch for having it be activated based on the light level of the room. Considering adding in a circuit to increase and decrease the LED intensity.
Man I love my pg unicorn I just finished putting on the decals and I can’t stop looking at it and I was wondering if you might be able to put the pg unicorn beside a mega size kit because that’s almost how big the transformed unicorn is.
Seems to me from some quick looks at official art that there is no “official” color for the fingers. Sometimes they’re all blue. Sometimes they’re all white. Sometimes only the knuckles are blue. Sometimes only the back of the fingers are white.
Painting them blue is simple enough. White/gray primer, blue paint, clear coat, and you’re done. If you want to get fancy and only target certain areas for blue-ification, you’ll have to get really good at working with really small bits of masking tape. (Though from looking at dalong pictures, the fingers are already molded blue, so now I’m not sure what you’re talking about.)
I’m REALLY looking forward to the zero honoo, and would LOVE to win one of the strikes to finally get a master grade in my collection. Good luck to everyone who wants to win.
Can’t wait till you guys start doing episodes more frequently again 😀 Also, Sid, you’ve convinced me to try out some of the Unicorn kits. Hopefully 2015 will bring us more new Wing kits.
AkeOme guys! Happy New Year! Great episode! That Astray Blue Frame D looks awesome! The Sipel Swords kinda reminds me of Clouds FF7:Advent Children sword and the gunblade itself a bit like from FF as well. Cool! Now I’m tempted to get one xD
Another great episode. Now I’m finally caught up. Love the Darth Vader and all the Star Wars kits you had pics of.
On a side note you should give away Face Palm Gundam and then you put a caption in for Boss Builds Hulk “You idiots, you gave away Face Palm Gundam.”
Hey guys! nice to have you back. that revoltech storm trooper…wow! it looks amazing and the with all those revoltech joints and nothing to really hinder movement, it must really be a good toy to have but the bandai version wins in the looks department. Oh and I can’t wait for the Amazing Red Warrior.
Welcome back Ryan & Sid. Hope we have a great new year filled with even more awesome fantastic gunpla. You guys do a great job in your episodes so keep up the good work!! The storm troopers look great I’m even thinking about picking on up myself and great work on the PG Unicorn Syd. It looks fantastic
The storm trooper looks great I’m thinking about picking on up myself
so thanks for the episode! I think you’ve sold me out and great job on the PG unicorn syd. Have a new year and come on Aile Strike RM!
I don’t have a link to anything as simple as just painting, but I’m sure Youtube has tons of those videos. Try looking up a guy on youtube called GhostofZeon. As for some more advanced stuff, I recommend trying this guy: http://codyscoop.com/models/how-to he does great work, and he makes it rather simple to pick up.
That’s a good way to start there, however i suggest against using an x-acto knife to remove the gate. Once you have your part separated from the tree, use your sidecutters with the flat side facing the part, and trim the gate off as close as you can. This gives you less of a chance of gouging the plastic with the knife, which is a common issue by…[Read more]
oh didn’t even notice he was using that in his tutorials, just found a site with a bunch of tutorials and posted to help out.
Anyways yeah don’t use that, use a modeling knife, with changeable blades. Though I must confess when I started I was using a nail clipper to cut sprues,, would not recommend that either btw lol.
