HELP! I am working on my first gunpla kit and have run into a hesitation. I have painted all the parts with tamiya spray cans (lacquer) and used a enamel paint to hand paint the eyes. My next step was to be panel lining wit either gundam markers or panel wash. I was looking into how to do both. I ran out to grab a cheap airplane kit to practice on the wings. I sprayed tamiya ts-13 clear to act as a top coat prior to trying both methods. The panel wash worked really well until until I took my testors enamel thinner to clean it up. The thinner ate up the plastic and topcoat, is this to be expected? if not what did I do wrong? I took gundam panel line marker (also covered in tamiya clear ts-13) to the other wing and fond that I was unable to effectively erase the marker, I put test…[Read more]

    • Enamel thinner is a bit like turps or white spirit if you use to much and it will eat through or crack plastic.
I have always used enamel paint it’s just the thinners really dislikes plastic.
A modeler i no once put a pricey plastic kit in a container of turps to strip the paint off but when he came back to it the next morning not only did it strip the paint but it eat the model too. πŸ™‚

      • Good to know, I’m gonna go grab the current version of pledge future finish and give that a shot. Maybe that will work better. Hopefully the markers don’t have as much an issue with erasing as the last coat gave them.

Don’t know if this is the right place to ask, but does anybody have a copy of the instructions for the following kit:
    #11076 1/144 Guntank RX-75 ‘Guntank’ High Grade
I acquired the kit quite a few years ago and finally decided to start building it, but alas no instructions.

Recently I decided to get into photography of my models, but I have no idea what material to use as the backdrop, does anyone have any recommendations?

Had a question about when in the building process to weather. Paint, gloss coat, decals then weather? Or gloss coat again after decals?

Hey guys, got a question, besides the sticker sheet and dry transfers, what type of decals are included in both the Strike Rouge ver RM and the Unicorn OVA ver?

Hi all I am really hoping that someone in this group can either provide me with or provide me with a website where I can get the parts I’m missing for my MG Double X. I’m missing A 18, 19, & 20. I don’t care if I have to pay for the parts or shipping I just need those parts to build my kit.

Maybe someone will know. The question is about the dreadfull P-Bandai.
The items on their store only have a month release date. So the question is -> Does P-Bandai has a specific day they do the release for that month or just its “any day is fine as long as its during that month”?

Okay i have a bit of an issue here, i was test running the panel line accent marker on the panel lines of my kit, but thing is, every time i use the mr hobby thinner to rub off the excess ink, it keeps erasing off the panel lines. Am i using the wrong thinner or something?

    • As long as it isn’t melting your plastic (lacquer thinner) you should be fine regarding the thinning agent.
To be honest I need some more information.

-What color has the label of the Mr. Hobby thinning agent. Don’t you know what you bought????

-How do you remove the excess? A q-tip/cotton bud, cotton ball, tissue, moist paintbrush?

My guess is that the product used to clean the part with is soaked in the thinning agent and as soon as you touch the part, the fluid just runs over the entire piece.
The q-tip or whatever you are using needs to be damp.
If you provide me the needed information, I’ll give you a more detailed description. Need something t work with…..

      • Oh, sorry about that. the thinner i used is the mr colour leveling thinner, and i used cotton bud

        • No worries πŸ˜‰

This is the bottle with the yellow label and the blue writing, right?
If so, this is the cellulose based thinning agent, in other words, the lacquer based thinner.
This is the wrong thinning agent. If not careful, it might melt the plastic if not careful. You where lucky so far….
Try to get a hold on the light blue/turquoise label with white writing. This is the alcohol based thinner. This is more or less the same thinning agent that is used for the Gundam Marker Eraser Pen. If at all possible, get that one.
I’m taking you haven’t painted your models, so using those will do no harm to your model.
If you do get the Mr Aqueous Thinner, get some q-tips if you haven’t already. Put the q-tip in the solution and before using it to wipe off the excess panel lining, roll…[Read more]

So, I have a lot of leftover frame(the thing that holds parts to build gundam) after finishing my gundam. What should I do with them?

    • take it kitbash with other gundams to be creative thats wht i do

      • He means the empty runners and what to do with them…….
There was someone here that posted a picture of him building a stand out of the runners, this was a long time ago, can’t remember who or what.
Or do what I do, throw them in the old recycling bin, or is that a dumb answer to a ………. (insert your opinion on the dotted line) question πŸ˜›

    • You can also try to use the runners cut at certain area and glued together with pla plates to create like those destroyed colony debris for dioramas
