Oh, for the real reason why, here is my guess. Revell bought the exclusive rights to sell Star Wars model kits in certain countries (like the USA). This means that model Star Wars kits made by other companies can not be sold directly in the USA without Revell giving their permission.
This is what I’m currently working on. It’s base is a Gundam Ez-SR kit. I’ve added weapons from some weapons kits and the hands from a different Gundam kit. I was a little…
looks great! 🙂 lore-wise does the machine have some kind of EXAM system? or is it more focused on artillery and firepower? sorry, its just something I like to do to give custom gunpla like the ones I make interesting in both appearance and lore related weapons if it were an actual mobile suit. 😀 anyways hope it comes out great!
An EXÀM system is and was a counter measure that mechanized newtype abilities into a mobile suit allowing normal pilots to face off against newtypes, its ok if you made this for a cool lookin set. Like I said I just like giving any custom made gunpla that extra bit of flavor that, in a sense, makes it seem stronger 🙂
Personally, I am an advocate of Vallejo paints (sold by HLJ).
Since you have experience with acrylic paints, I would suggest Vallejo, Tamiya acrylics, or even Citadel. They key is thinning your paints. What paints you use all depends on what you have available locally. I will say that one advantage Tamiya has is that you can paint in matching…[Read more]
Am I the only person that is disappointed that there was no talk of the new Macross Super VF-1J Gerwalk kit? I have it in my rpivate warehouse and would have loved to see an unboxing.
Actually, primer is something that is supposed to help the paint adhere to whatever surface you are painting. It can come in various colors. The usual colors are black, white, and grey. Vallejo’s line of primers come in many other colors.
When priming a surface, it is ideal to let the primer cure for several hours (12-24 is ideal) before adding…[Read more]
Please take note that some automotive primers will NOT adhere to plastics, especially ABS!
A good indication for this, if the same brand sell special primer for plastics!
And Vallejo primers can be very tricky to work with….
But to answer your question, most primers on’t need to be diluted. But this depends on the brand and type you use.
As for…[Read more]
I will add that you should use the Tamiya thinner (X20) when thinning Tamiya paints. It’s formulated differently from most other acrylic paints on the market. This means you might get some very bad results if you use a thinner intended for a different brand of paint.
I completed my first Master Grade Gundam kit, the Freedom Gundam. I enjoyed building it. But, I’m not happy with the final model. It just doesn’t have enough detail. When I…
The age of a kit does make a difference. 10 years ago, that kit would have looked great compared to it’s HG version. I think there is a new version of it, though I wouldn’t quote me on that as I dislike anything SEED related, as they release WAY to many SEED kits.
A good example of the age of a kit effecting the overall detail, is to look at the…[Read more]
That’s awesome to see someone else’s same kit! I just finished building a freedom as well but never posted any pictures. Honestly I thought the age of the kit would be a problem, but I had a lot of fun with it and thought it was really well done for its age
The freedom is my all time fav MS. I do agree with you about the details are lacking. But when it came out it would have been great. I got a 1/60 NG ver, that has very similar level of detail. But in the size I prefer plus a bit of paint helps. But they do lack in comparison to the RG line. But I fined the best version of the Freedom is the metal…[Read more]
