As the year wraps up Bandai releases a slew of High Grades from Iron-Blooded Orphans so Syd recruits a wide-eyed Todd to help him out. The 1/100 Barbatos is all armored up and gets a review in this episode, as […]
Well I am glad I at least won the hi mach, Sorry Syd and Ryan Get to see SW:TFA on monday 12/14/15 at the premiere also please bring the girls back because Todd seems like a nice guy but not a good on camera fit. For Ryan SW BF just practice and play the campaign to get better then smaller battles.
Syd & Ryan, Bros for life! Star Wars jacket x2 & same color as well. Hope next week’s episode won’t be too short as its only a day before Force Awaken and you two will be too hype to film. Enjoy the movie.
The gimmick of 1/100 Barbatos’s gun is really unique.. first time seeing that. Worth the price for a NG kit with an inner frame.
I have yet to try a PG but I would like my first PG to be a PG Ball. Please Bandai, make a PG Ball! Thanks.
Have you ever built the MG Ball? (Either the Ver. Ka or the 08th MS Team Ver.) It absolutely blows most other MGs out of the water, even the most complicated modern ones, in terms of detail and color separation. It also makes for a great sturdy toy, and it’s super cheap to boot.
A PG Ball, even just a scale-up of the MG, would be amazing.
I wish i would have looked into the long distance transportation booster before i bought my hg barbatoes but oh well i will probably still pick it up, it never hurts to have spare parts.
also i cant wait for the review of the gusion its my favorite from the ibo series.
Well, I’ve ordered the banshee and the led (despite how bad I think I am at building). I was torn between the unicorn and the banshee. Made me went back to go watch the entire series again to gauge how I feel about each one.
What finally pushed me over to the banshee is because I would have lusted over the p-Bandai final battle unicorn more if I got the unicorn.
Thanks for the episode guys. Looking forward to the IBO kit reviews next week.
Great Episode Guys, as always of course, never a doubt ;). I really hope I win that Mk. III that would be my first RE kit, I’ve been wanting to get them, but I’ve got too much backlog as is to justify buying them atm. Although I’d make an exception to that if Bandai would kindly bring out an RE/100 NZ-000 Queen Mansa (aka Quin Mantha)!!!
My pg gundam rocks but it is intimidating when I put it together more so then my other builds but it still rocks out on my shelf lol. P.s. I got the winged gundam endless waltz.
Syd: “…nice and snug, bend my arm, line up my hand joint … some part comes off again, what a surprise! *sarcastic voice*”
LOL, we still love you Barbatos, and MK III INCOMING!!! + Star Wars RuleZ
Nice comparison between the 1/100 and the 1/144 Barbatos.RE/100 is definitely a scale I want to try to get my hands on.
P.S.:Also am hyped for star wars episode 7 and may the force truly be awakened
Hey guys, great show! (and good luck to Todd) – my question is: If you had to choose between two Dark Side powers, would you choose Sith Lightning or Force Choke? Hope you guys enjoy yourselves in the movies.
Tip for Ryan. People tend to think FPS games are all impulse but strategy is a vital part. Learn the map, learn the attack and defense patterns, and learn the sniper nests. Being one step ahead mentally beats having better reaction speed. It might be a game but The Art of War by Sun Tzu is applicable.
Note: Wish to opt out of this giveaway, please choose another if my number comes up.
Hell yes 2016 will be an amazing year for movies – Cap America 3, BvS, Deadpool movie ( this is gonna be awesome) and X-men Apocalypse..prbly more that I can`t remember right now, but either way …my eyes will burn out from going to the cinema too much lol
mk-ii is my favorite design but i’d like to have a go at that mk-iii! happy holidays guys!
@ryan, what’s your play style on your star wars game? it might be helpful for advice from other gamers. one important thing though is to always use cover to your advantage and not rush forward and go rambo gung-ho lol always kills me in FPS games…
Hiho 😀 i cant wait for the Hi-Res Barbatos and Ted is a little bit scary 😀 like me …dont get between me and my gundam !! ^^ like too see him often in this great show of yours. keep up this nice work greeting from germany…with bradtwurst express 😀
The Gusion is supposed to use the same Gundam Frame as the Barbatos so it will be interesting to see how Bandai translate this aspect of the suit into the actual model. I would have thought we’d need to wait for the 1/100 Gusion scheduled for release next year, but we were all surprised by the inner frame of the 1/144 Barbatos.
I’m a fan of the RE/100 kits, already have the Mk iii & Dijeh & I will get like 10 of the Leo if it’s made but I’m just not feeling the 1/100 NG Barbatos . I love the design and the anime is fun too but the NG just doesn’t look sharp enough. I also noticed that it looked very weak and unbalanced.
Battlefront’s problem is that the damn shitheads at EA thought it’d be nice to not have local servers. They did it in beta and took it out at launch. I asked for a refund a few weeks back and to be honest, I’m glad I did. The beta was so much better. They ruined it
Darth Syd and Darth Ryan… that scene was way funnier than it should be; now I want that jacket. Also, that guy that got two PGs in one go, I’d like to be that guy one day.
90% of the people who play Battlefront have struggles and complaints with it.
I am slowly getting better. The best thing is adjust your loadout and star cards to your play style. I like to go back-and-forth between a more aggressive run and gun style to playing that mid-back line support roll. I either use the EE-3 or the RT-97C primarily. As for star cards I prefer the Impact grenade, explosive shot and the jump pack. That jump pack is so useful to either get you into the thick of things or out of it.
wake up to a new episode and there is already about a hundred comments. i love watching you guys and look forward to this. are you going back to having a schedule yet? love the hoodies by the way, and no spoiling it for us
How can you guys feel awkward about getting the same sweater? If I saw someone wear the same thing as me, I would give them the biggest high five and say they have great taste in fashion.
Also, Todd… You’re hilarious. You being on the show was a great idea. XD
Hello again!! I won an Origin booklet! Finally I win something!
Maybe it’s time for winning the Mark 3 too!
Oh please! Don’t spoiler anything about SW next week. I’m the type of guy who waits as much as possible to see a movie! So internet will be very dangerous for me in the next weeks!
Also, “stand a good chance of winning” yet I still haven’t won anything… I blame it on the random number generator and will proceed to claim that it’s rigged!
Have you guys been watching IBO so far ? Opinions ?
Syd did you see the fan-art theory that the Gundam Gusion actually hides a smaller Gundam inside ? A bit like the Virtue in Gundam OO, what do you think about it ?
Always a great episode ryan and syd, which is better to get the HG Barbatos or 1/100 barbatos? Hope you guys have fun watching star wars and as always have a great christmas 🙂
Nice jackets. Where does one find such a jacket? Great episode guys! I’m stoked for the new Star Wars movie as well. I really am starting to dig the new IBO line.
MG is the coolest! What do you guys think about bandai pumping out 1/100 scale kits but they are not in/have potential for the MG line? And of course I’m hoping to win that Mk 3
…hi syd and ryan, speaking of star wars i think it will be available on 17th here in the philippines but dont worry i wont give spoilers after i watched it ahahhahahahaha… the barbatos looks amaizing but the gushion also catch my attention aftrr i wathced episode 11 of the ibo…
Hey guys, great episode. I have a feeling the hi-res kit(s?) may be to the 1/100 scale what the RGs are for the 1/144 scale. Adding a bit more detail and possibly quality as well. Looking forward to it. And Star Wars of course!
Now i am even more Hyped for my 1/100 Barbatos that my friend got me for christmas from you guys, I got him the Origin’s Char’s Zuku to complete his collection of Origin’s MS and as i am collecting IBO series right now. I didn’t notice it in your last two video’s but does the NG have a cockpit gimmick? I really like that about the MG series. And maybe if Santa is nice to me this year money wise i will be able to finally get me a PG MS, or maybe just let me win one of your giveaways, either way i will be happy. Great Show as usual, can’t wait for the next one, and the plot of Star wars is…. lol just kidding.
I hope you guys get the 1/100 Graze on the show. I also hope it’s as good as the Barbatos; you don’t get many grunt suits in 1/100 scale. The last good 1/100 scale grunts we got were back in the Gundam 00 lines.
I liked the off-shoot clips you had this episode that wasn’t just at the desk. You should do that stuff more often! Great episode and may the Force be with you!
The NG Barbatos is somewhat disappointing. All the more reason to wait for the the Hi-res version or the eventual MG. I want to get a PG soon but my problem is I want to paint it so that it will look its best which means more money to be spent 🙁
i did not expect the NG got the cannon gimmicks at all, that’s nice. I’m hyped for the V2 Ver.Ka and i am waiting for the next MG announcement from Bandai, i hope they will suprise us (in a good way). Nice show guys, love it.
I honestly not quite understand Bandai politics on master grades. They put so much effort in producing Barbatos in pretty much any form… except MG. I bet making this new Hi-Resolutin Model will cost a lot more than MG because it’s basically action figure with attachable armor. It looks rather nice and everything, yet…
And I’m still waiting for Build/Try Burning Gundam =|
Great show. Can’t wait to see the IBO long-distance transportation booster review. Do you think that this will eventually be released in a 1/100 scale or will it only be a 1/144 HG release similar to the likes of the Meteor Unit from Gundam Seed and the GP03 Dendrobium because of its would be size?
I know that I am a little late to the discussion but I would chose the 3.0 version of the RX78-2 simply because I love the level of detail on that kit and it also happens to be the first RX78-2 kit that I have built.
Speaking of the RE 1/100, I’m hoping to see the Re 1/100 Kshatriya in 2016 but it would be awesome to win the RE Gundam MK-||| in the meantime ^_^
This is the first time I’ve actually seen your show, and it’s really great! And the Star Wars hype is very real XD dig the hoodies! I recently got into gunpla a few months back, and I’m enjoying it a lot so far even on a tight budget XD I really can’t wait for the Gusion to come out! I like the bulky, turtle-frog(?) look to it! 😀
The RE MkIII looks really cool. I bet it looks amazing in person!
I haven’t heard of the REs before, but looking through the line they have, the Dijeh looks pretty amazing too!
Cool episode! I have a question. BANDAI did an RE100 Nightingale. Does this mean that we could see an HGUC 1/144 scale Nightingale soon? Thank you Gunpla TV. May the force be with you. Always!
Ryan, didn’t order the LEDs for the PG Unicorn and Banshee because…wait for it…I got the LEDs when the were in stock before haha. Just needed to wait for the kits to restock. side note, too bad HLJ doesn’t do P-Bandai stuff, but I did also get the PG Full Armor Expansion for the Unicorn and the Armed Armour BS & VN for the Banshee.
I plan on ordering the 1/100 Barbatos, IBO Gusion+ Man Rodi within the next week or so. I might even start getting some MG kits including the Zaku II and Gouf Custom. What other MG kits would you suggest?
So is the High Resolution Barbatos simply going to be another plastic model using metallic-plated plastic? I was under the impression that the frame would be pre-assembled and utilize diecast metal along with plastic, and the armor would come on plated runners?
i build the inner frame for Barbatos last saturday. still not sure if i want to build the armor around it, or keep it al terminator like
i did give it a overal gunmetal paint job and the wires a silver color to make it stand out…. i want more of those inner frames 🙂 fun to build and fun to play with
Another amazing episode guys!! I am going to see Episode 7 on the first showing on Thursday at 7:30! 😀 Can’t wait! Also I am loving the Barbatos! Happy Holidays Guys!!
A unique kit. I have placed an order for 4 Barbatos Kits for the kids in the house :). This will be their first build and we are eager to start building it. Happy Holidays.
Thanks Darth Syd and Darth Ryan for this episode, the kit I really like to have this coming christmas is the MG RX-78-2 Origin ver. hehe just posting. Advance Merry Christmas both of you and the rest of HLJ.
Awsome episode!
The Barbatos looks good, but some how it just feel too naked to me.
Maybe I’m more into the traditional armored mech type of models while Barbatos just too skeleton-ish.
Anyway hope I can win one of those give aways!
Even after building 40 something MGs and a PG (Astray Red Frame) the Banshee I have on the way is still incredibly intimidating. There’s so much detail and work to it.
Lol the sweaters. In regards to not sucking so much, the biggest problem my brother has when playing is he gets too close, i mean he just gets so close its utterly ridiculous you have a gun, a blaster rifle at that, stand back dont walk closer shoot from a distance thats what guns are for!.
Anyways you guys are sooooooo lucky to work at Hlj, if i had the cash id be buying Gundam’s left right and center, but no matter how Much I want the PG’s if i dont have the money i cant get em. The 1/100 Barbatos looks really cartoonish, and Plasticky, i’ll just wait for an MG.
IBO designs seem to emphasize function over form, so they’re more basic and more functional than previous kits. This is a huge contrast with what we saw in ‘Build Fighters,’ with all the over-the-top anime style, weapons, and effects. IBO even uses bullets and other physical weapons rather than beam weapons.
1/100 Barbatos looks awesome! Is the High resolution Barbatos at 1/100 scale too? Can’t wait for the 1/100 Gusion, looks massive! I want that RE Gundam Mk III!!!
Another great episode guys. The 1/100 Barbatos looks great might pick it up in the new year. I really want the PG Unicorn with the lighting set but will wait until I have more skill at the hobby as I’m still pretty noobish at it. Also I know you show newly released kits on the show but would it be possible for you to feature older kits. Thanks.
Ryan’s back! And he has his voice back! And he uses it to full effect talking about various things, not just Star Wars! Syd talks Star Wars as well but teams up with Todd to review the newest HG Revive kits as […]
My favorite version of the RX-78-2 is actually The Origin version!
The main reason is because….when the knee bends, the knee armor actually slides to protect it! In every other iteration of the kit, the knees are always exposed 😛
My favorite Master Grade RX-78-2 has got to be the one that dons Samurai armor: yes, it is the Shin Musha Gundam (based on ver. 1.5 RX-78-2). Though it is not exactly the RX-78-2, the color separation and complexity of the parts make for a beautiful kit. I fell in love with the suit when I first saw it in Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2.
Is it me or does the new guy sound like Bob Ross?
If he said ‘happy little trees’ maybe the comparison would become clearer.
Also Ryan did not have to say sorry in the beginning, I think we were all happy to hear his family is getting bigger. 🙂
And the HG MK II revive looks really good with the weathering. I might try the same when my kit comes in. The 1/100 Barbatos looks nice but I think I will wait for the HD ver. to see the price difference and the color separation. I find painting in small accents to be difficult.
I never built any MG RX-78 but if I did I would pick up the Origin because after building the MG V-dash ver. Ka I want to avoid any kit with a torso core fighter gimmick.
And the MG RX-78 Origin does not have a core fighter in its torso.
Thank you for reading my comment in this video it really made my day. I must admit however i skipped the Barbatos build because i like to discover how it all fits together while its in my hands.
My favorite Rx78 is the 3.0 because i enjoy all the little details and color separation.
Glad you guys going to do tutorials again. Will it cover basic tutorials only or advance stuff like Scribing and hight extensions on MG kits since they have inner frame.
Great episode , Don’t like the Barbatos design that much but its still a cool kit ,
My Fav MG RX-78-2 has to be MG ver Ka love the decals and the look of it pretty much !
My favorite RX-78 is the 3.0 because like the RG it’s got the colors and proportions of the 1/1 RX-78 statue that I quite like. And I want that Shin Matsunaga Zaku!
I haven’t built any of the MG RX-78-2s, but my favorite one, based on looks, is the 3.0. I love how it looks like an actual machine that could fight in battle rather than just a replica of a fictional mecha.
yes, new episode! welcome back Ryan. been waiting for the barbatos build. i must say, the details on the 1/100 Barbatos is great.
to answer your survey, i myself prefer the MG rx-78-2 ver 3.0 due to the excellent detail, overall proportions, and gimmicks. the others look too cartoon-ish for me.on the other hand, the new MG rx-78-02 orgin version has some pretty cool new gimmicks and those included effect parts for the weapons. it was a great contender but the ver 3.0 won me over with the proportions and likeness to the 1:1 gundam on display at Diver City. i hope one day i get to see it in person and up close.
I’ve been following you guys on youtube, and then found out I could get kits if I started watching you guys here. That aside, I can’t decide between the HG Revive Mk. II or the RG version. ><
Also, am I the only one who wants to win the hi-mock? You should've probably done the Zaku last for more impact.
The MG Shin Musha Gundam is by faaaaar the best version of the MG RX-78-2, why? Well look at it xD Its a gigantic bad ass shogun that murders every thing in its way. You just cant beat that
I’m new to gunpla my very first kit and only one is the rg freedom strike. Perhaps It was a bit to advanced for me without the proper tools and I messed up on a couple things. Happy to see these new kits are easier to build and will pick up a couple more in the near future.
The Gundam mk.II AEUG and Titans looks pretty good, and that barbatos looks awesome can’t wait to see the hi res model coming out soon.
Anwyays ryan and syd also todd, keep up the good work and I’ll be looking forward to your next video. I wonder what are you going to do for episode 200? 😛
Great video as always and i think the best mg rx 78 2 is the 3.0 because it share a lot of similarities with the rg who i think is the best line.however the origin version looks very nice and i would like to build both of them since I didn’t build them
A White Zuku Force like the Black tri stars, maybe a group of zuku in white that are spec ops for battles on polar and moon surfaces. LPBS, Lunar Polar Bear Squadron. Consisting of a 1 Sniper Zuku, 3 Mid Range Combat Zuku, 2 Close Range Combat Zuku, 1 Demolition ( bookza and Rockets ) Zuku, 1 Heavy Artillery Zuku (weapons like Heavyarms) and then a Sazabi inspired MS to lead them. Color Scheme Mostly White with Silver/Grey Frames, accents of black, grey, and blue. With a Black Polar Bear Head Logo with a white Cresent moon scar over it eye for the emblem.
Gotta be RX-78 2.0 for me. there’s no doubt that it looks more cartoonish than most of the other mg RX-78 variations, but i’m pretty sure its also one of the most accurate representations of how the rx-78 originally looked when it first appeared way back when; that’s why 2.0 gets my vote
i think the mg Rx 78-2 that i prefer the most il the 3.0, it’s desin gime me a more “real machine” vibe maybe for the more colors of plastic in the armor
RX-78-2 ver 3.0 is my favorite, the Origin ver. is great but the knee armor is a big turn off for me, I wonder why not a lot of people mention its awkward articulation.
Great show and Barbatos build by Syd! Also looks like Todd’s getting used to the flow of things. Welcome back to Ryan also, glad he is better.
As for the RX-78-2, it surely has to be the Ver 3.0. Being lucky enough to have visited the Big Gundam in Odaiba, the Ver 3.0 is pretty much the replica of that great statue on my shelf! Although I welcome the new RE100 line – what I wouldn’t give for another 3.0!
I’m so unlucky in life that I will win the Hi-mock for sure! I hate the hi-mock! So….ordinary in design.
My favourite Rx78 is the Ver.Ka. In those years I had no idea that “mecha design” was a real job! I drew robots for my entire childhood just for fun. The Ver.Ka was the first time I realize how much complex and interesting can be to draw sci-fi stuff and also make it believable! The Ver.ka was the first Gundam to look believable, bulky, squarish, full of details, but also powerful like a real war machine!
No strange spikes, or strange useless piece of metal everywhere on its body! Hajime Katoki is awesome!
With over 30 years of experience I bet a good number of viewers wouldn’t mind hearing about more tips from Todd. And I couldn’t be any more excited for the Revive MK-II Titans; by far a great improvement and a glimpse of what I could look forward to in the future.
Hi-mock is one of my favourite kits, real fun and simple. Great poser and stuff! Usually recommends it to beginners. 🙂 Recently built the Zaku kit, I was a bit disappointed with it. :/ Doesn’t pose well imo… oh well! 😀
Cardigan is also super cool, would really love to own that, looks so cool with the arms and shields.
My favorite MG of RX-78-2 is the Ver 3.0, because it has a very challenging build and also has a pro vibe when you finish the kit. I’m also looking forward for Gunpla Tutorials again from you guys, it’s been a while. Sieg Zeon!
…the revive mk- ll looks amazing, either off the two would be a nice choice for building a kit… the barbatos on the otherhand looks soo good for a non grade kit… forcthe prizes i hope i could win the shin matsunaga zaku hahahahaha merry xmas guys
The Mk.2 was always one of my favorite designs as far as Gundam type suits go. Though I like alot of them the mk.2 always stood out to me. Though still nothing beats the Zaku II. Gimme that Matsunaga!
A lot of people are building the Gundam’s inner frames first. Do you think Bandai has finally wised up to this? Or do you think the Barbatos is special and this isn’t the start of a new trend?
great show again guys. i’m glad todd is joining you.
as for master grade 78-2’s i prefer the detail on the mk2.
and i would love the powered GM cardigan. and i cant wait for the HD barbados. waiting to buy one till i see the detail on that
Favorite RX-78? In MG form, it’d have to be the old RX-78-4 or -5, whichever had the giant gatling cannon. Because yeah it was overdesigned, but it had the giant gatling cannon. You don’t bet against a giant gatling cannon. The OYW version probably comes in a distant second.
Any idea when the new Frame Robo kits will come in? I’m hoping to make Christmas gifts out of them.
Oh man my favorite RX78-2 would be 3.0. The look it has, the color separation, how it looks just oob, and I put in the yellow LED and when it lights up its so cool! Also, winning the powered gm cardigan I could modify it with my super fumina and have HYPER FUMINA!!!!!
My favorite RX-78-2 is the original 1995 MG coz it was the first kit I ever built that my older brother got me in 1999… when I was 7, which spawned my love for everything Gundam. I still have it to this day 😀
My fav RX-78 MG is the 3.0. I’m a fan of kits that have a realistic design, and the 3.0 has great panel lines, panel colour separation and proportions. The stickers/decals also add a lot to that realistic look.
Would love to see more 3.0s, make more of the RGs into MGs!
The OYW version was my favorite because of the awesome panel lines, but the new Origin version has won me over with it’s more real militaristic look instead of the cartoony 2.0 look.
Should I get the 1/100 Barbatos not that a Hi-Res is coming out? By the time the Hi-Res comes out, maybe the MG will come out… AHHH MY WALLET.
Hope I win that Zaku, it’ll be my first ZAKU!
My favorite RX 78-2 would be the 3.0, first because of how bad ass it looks compared to the other kits and just because it has a core fighter which makes it better than that origin ver. I love the foot articulation of the origin ver but without that core fighter, even with the superb articulation, I’d have to go with the ver 3.0! 😀 I hope I win one of those posters or that Shin Matsunaga Zaku!! Here’s to hoping for a birthday miracle!!! Love your show guys!
My favorite RX-78-2 is the one year war version, it just looks awesome with the different shades of plastic, the panellines and the dry-transfers. though it didn’t have a core fighter so thus so far I haven’t been able to build any version of the core fighter but somewhere in the future I’m planning to get the 3.0 so maybe if I have to believe syd my OYW has to give up his spot as my favorite rx-78.
anyway great episode guys can’t wait til the next one!
Haven’t built a RX-78-2 MG (sucks to be me, due to time constraints and a lot of models that still need to be built), but I can say that I like the ver2.0 just because I like how it looks compared to the others and would build it when given the chance.
I hope if im lucky i could win the power GM carigen i’ve been wanting to get that kit for the longest time. Plus I cant wait for Star wars episode 7 I hope its awesome like episode three was.
Wow episode 200 coming up. Congratulations on a successful series. Happy to say I’ve been watching since the start and haven’t missed one.
I do have a question for you guys: Is there a way to get spare Bandai part runners outside of Japan? My PG Strike Freedom’s wing peg broke and I need to replace it. I’ve tried to pin it but there’s just too much stress on the part to hold. It’s my favorite kit and looks so sad with out it’s wing.
Thanks again for all the good shows, and would love any of this week’s kits to show up under my Christmas tree.
I cant decide to get the Titan MKII Revive or RG Titan MKII, if the revive got the test parts like the RG it will be perfect. I like Todd, hí way ò review í very great, hope to sê more of him with you guys.
Nice episode guys, waw has it been that long? Lol make me feel old into the hobby since once been watching since episode 4 I think. Well cheers and here’s to win a kit
Wow a Shin Matsunaga Zaku, cool! A Hi-mock as well , sweet! I definetly need a zaku in my collection and definitely need more grunt suits, all I have are gundam type :).
Anyway good to see you Ryan glad that you are feeling better and nice build of the 1/100 Barbatos Syd. Keep up the good work everyone and may the force be with you!
Ive only ever built an rx78, Bit would build the rx78 revive if i had to pick a mg kit. Can i hit to birds with stone and have a chance to win one of those kits too?
It’s amazing the difference a little bit of weathering can make to a kit! The Hi-Mock is still one of my favourite kits. It’s just so simple and fun! The IBO kits are giving it a run for it’s money though. Can’t wait to see what that new HG Barbatos looks like!
Ah man, what a nice late birthday present, a Gunpla TV episode!
Love the look of that 1/100 Barbatos, and I can’t wait for the 1/100 Graze. I was actually just putting the finishing touches on the Graze that I got from the /r/Gunpla secret santa while I was watching!
Ironically enough though, just after my birthday is the one time I don’t want to win one of the Syd edition kits! I’m already gonna struggle to display the MG Turn X and MG Hi-Nu Ver. Ka that I got and an extra kit won’t help that!
Welcome back Ryan. 🙂
The review of the 1/100 Barbatos is making me wanting one for myself. Liked the looks of that frame. It might look nice in just frame mode + minor detailing paint.
I have the rx-78-2 3.0 in my backlog. I was thinking that it was the latest one at that point of time and I don’t have any MG RX-78-2 yet. I like how it looks like the RG version but easier to assemble (I think).
Then, after seeing the RX-78-2 Gundam Ver. One Year War 0079 on display in a gundam museum here, I bought that one too. I like the colour, panel lines and the open hatches of the kit.
Now, I am thinking whether I should get the Origin too.
I really hope the Barbatos meets my expectations, I am more interested in how the frame is built that’s the real impact this kit is trying to do. A little sticker heavy, but seeing the price point I cant really complain; now all i have to do is wait for it to arrive. And I hope I can win that sweet Shin Matsunaga Zaku II. HLJ and Gunpla TV for life.
My favorite Rx 78-2 is the OYW version. I has great detail for paneling and great articulation. But the main reason is There are a variety of conversion kits for it.
Todd did a great job again, even took the time to apply weathering. You mentioned it be being easily removed, won’t a matt spray work to set it?
Without a doubt! Version Ka. is my favorite! Katoki really know how to pimp those gunplas up!
(I don’t see my comment that I made yesterday :O? Either way, cut that comment off and make this eligible cause I forgot to comment about my FAVORITE RX 78-2.)
Another great episode guys and how can I get a job with you guys because you guys look like you are having so much fun! Has Bandai announced the another run of the HG Neo Zeong? I only heard rumors.
Oh man that was such a cool 1/100 build I’m starting my first mg the deathscythe. I can’t wait to get me hands on the barbatos though. And just got 4 rg’s from you guys. Thanks for the great show.
My favorite is the RX 78-2 One Year War, but sadly I’ve yet to build one. I love the old school essence mixed with the modern look with more panel lines.
I’ll take that zaku please… I don’t have enough… I honestly like the MG RX 78 3.0 ver because of its proportions and, in my opinion, more realistic look…
That 1/100 Barbatos looks solid! But I guess I’ll wait for the High resolution Barbatos, is that 1/100 scale or is it 1/60? Can’t wait for the Gusion! It Looks massive!
For MG RX-78-2, I really love the faded color and panel line of the One Year War ver. It has it’s own charm that saying “I’m different from these guys” comparing to the other rx-78-2 MG
For MG RX 78, I think I would probably prefer the ver 3.0 over the others, because I like its sharp, more realistic looks. On the other hand, Ver Origin, or 2.0 looks more like a toy for kids.
I say that 3.0 is the best looking. I love the realistic design, similar to the Ver.Ka and OYW gundam. The combination of the colour separation and proportions on the 3.0 puts it over the top of the others.
Awesome Show, even though i am new to your show, i came in as the 49,000 subscriber to your YouTube Channel on episode 189, Congrats, and didn’t pay attention when you said post to your blog page instead of your youtube channel, so i missed out of the Triple X giveaway =(. i was wondering if you could point me in which direction of your tutorials that you have already done since i have somewhat new to the Gunpla scene, i would like to watch them. And with the new Tutorial Videos you are doing can you do a Video about what supplies are most commonly used for Tools, Paints, and Such. Thanks for these Videos and you now have a weekly viewer.
Welcome aboard! It’s great to have you hear. To watch the older tutorials that are mixed in with our regular Gunpla episodes you can click on the Gunpla TV tab at the top of the page and you’ll be taken to a list of all our episodes. Each episode title should have a description of the episode and tutorials so by browsing the episode titles it shouldn’t take you long to find a tutorial you are looking for.
Thank you, I will be spending the next few days going over your Video logs as in my wife just had surgery today and in-between being her servant i plan on doing some Gunpla and Gunpla Research. I have narrowed it down to three series that i want to collect from as a majority, those being Iron Blood Orphans, Build Fighters, and Seed. My question is do you have a section on your site, or know of a site that can give me a list of Mobile Suits from those Series and if they have or do not have a corresponding Gunpla Kit?
Also the Powered Carriagen (probably spelled that wrong) was an Awesome kit, it was one of my first kits i built. But that White Zuku gave me a crazy idea, which i posted around post 53ish as a reply to someone elses comment. I want to do a Custom Zuku team for polar spec ops. Some Weapon Exchanging and Full Paint, but i will file that idea away for later after i get some good practice in, say after i have built my 30th gunpla i will start my LPBS (Lunar Polar Bear Squadron of zukus =) )
So many cool kits are coming out, but I’m too busy with college and already have 3 kits in my backlog. I wouldn’t mind getting something that’s already built though 😛
Can’t wait for winter break, been pretty busy with college. Need to start building again. Got 27 kits on backlog. Love the show guys! Amazing customer service!
Great episode! I do love the Mk II, but I already have the Titans version of the RG. Maybe I’ll pick up the AEUG version of the Revive? Even though it’s not cold here in the midwestern US (it’s been as warm as 60F recently) I would still love a nice Cardigan for Christmas!
Two weeks ago or so I lost my account, WordPress would not allow me to reset my password and so I also lost the opportunity for those sweet XXXs ;_; But now I’m back, and so is the LED set for the PG Unicorn. Too bad I would literally have to pay an eye to get that kit on my shelf; maybe in the far future… on day… Although, that shelf of mine has a free spot that the GM Cardingan could take.
But in the end, winning is not as important as avoiding spoilers from that trailer you two spoke of. That scared me, don’t do it again, please!
RAISE YOUR FLAGS THE GUSION IS OUT. Was really hyped for the 1/100 Gusion and then i was the pilot and I’m like…alright m8. But anyhow my favorite RX-78-2 would be the One Year War version since its the only one that has a pinkish red instead of just full on red lol.
Hi guys, nice episode as usual. Quick question, did Ryan finish his Falcon before Episode 7 releases? I’m really looking forward to seeing it on the show. Also, the Barbatos frame looks awesome. I wish Bandai would do that with more kits. And out of all the Master Grade RX78-2 my favorite is the 3.0 because the proportions are better, and it looks more streamlined. Thanks for keeping the show alive, and Happy Holidays.
great show as usual. would love to see a top ten gundam buy syd and not limited to just mgs. keep up the great work and ryan everyone wants to see the finished falcon.
Hello peeps, good to see a new guy on the team and help build gunpla’s for the show! Seems like Ryan has less drive (or laziness) to build kits, but it happens to everyone, especially when you’re getting a newborn and star wars is down the road.
Update on the progress, I have managed to fit most of the Fenice Rinascita parts onto the frame arms girl stylet.
currently deciding on a colour scheme for her,
Thanks it took me a day to figure how to fit the parts, some parts had to be cemented a few modified then cemented, but most of it is still removeable.
I am am fairly sure you can fit the Fram arm parts onto the FA: Girls it wouldn’t be too much trouble considering they are very similar I think it should be a easy kit bash.
Another new face makes an appearance on Gunpla TV to talk about the newest Iron-Blooded Orphans, the Hyakuri, and Hyakuren kits, while Syd is excited to talk about a Master Grade kit again!
Still waiting on my super Fumina and as I see more video’s with bad/creepy face reviews I’m trying to see what I can do to make it better LOL Anyways great episode and keep it up
Thanks for the review of the MG RX-78-2 Origin. I was contemplating purchasing between this and the 3.0 but after excellent review I will be going with the 3.0.
Loving the IBO kits as well as the show keep up the awesome work. The new guys seemed nervous but he did survive so congrats to that. Would love to win Sid’s triple X ( lol nice name sid ) set but if not no biggie i will still support HLJ for plamo needs.
Ever since the announcement of the RX-78-2 Origin Ver. I’ve wanted it. Seeing this review only makes me want it more! One of these days I’ll get my hands on one.
In the mean time I’ll cross my fingers for the Triple moon power!
Which MG kit should I buy the gundam 3.0 or the origin verison to get the most value out of them? I like the extra parts like the cannon, and the new rifle, and the clear effect parts, but i like the outer sharp design of the 3.0 better. Also, I hope I can win the MGs ~~~
Can’t wait to order my RX 78 Origin version. I just finished my 2.0 and 3.0, and I am actually looking into the original Ver.Ka and 1.0 (and maybe a Facepalm Gundam), just to round out the collection. it’s kinda a shame that the Origin version doesn’t include a core fighter, but I already have enough.
Really loving the look of all these IBO kits; money’s a bit tight right now, but definitely going to try to keep a pit of pocket change ready for the Gusion when it comes out!
Loved the longer episode, I hope that Ryan feels better soon but Todd (forgive me if I spell his name wrong) did a great job filling in, and I hope to see him in some future videos
im a little disappointed about the 1/100 barbatos stickers but will still pick it up. Because i will need it to pair with the 1/100 gusion when it comes out.
also i love the blast effects on the origin and i wish more kits would come with them as they add tons of play-ability and posing options.
I like the design on the Hyakuri and the Rx-78 origin ver. Can’t wait to pick those kits up for myself. Oh and the XXX give away got me all sorts of excited haha.
Hey guys awesome ep welcome to the new edition Todd i really like the guy hope its a team treo now lol also i wish i could win the double x and the x gundam MG’s i have never had a MG and thats one of my fav designs hope i get that lucky lol best wishes to HLJ and and good luck to everyone.
Todd seemed a little shy at first but really got into it as he went on! Great episode guys I’ll have to look into the Hyakuri, it reminds me a lot of the Elf Bullock from G-Reco and that is a very good thing.
Oh and also, looking at 2Old4Toy’s review of the SD EX-Standard RX-78 2 you really aren’t missing much. They’re extremely hollow and incredibly sticker heavy. https://youtu.be/0zOUgk7zUC8
the origin looks like a neat kit! I think I prefer the looks of its predecessors, but it’s nice to see a different take on RX. Good episode guys! Can’t wait for the next one.
Yes! Thanks Syd for the Review of MG RX-78-2 Origin ver. and Welcome Tod! Lengthy episode but very informative. I like how Tod review the two new HG kit from G Tekketsu. Keep Up The Good Work Guys!
Ah, the Theseus’ Ship Paradox. If you set sail on a ship, and at every port you come to you replace a single plank making up that ship, eventually replacing every single plank before coming back to your home port, is your ship still your ship?
Surely to learn the answer would be to invite madness…
Simple, if you get a kit and mod it bit by bit over the years to the point that there is not a single original part left, is it still the same custom kit?
Ok. I never done modding with gunpla before, but I have with bionicles and I guess I could understand, but why not buy and mod some new other gunpla from scratch?
Three X’s, sounds dangerous. Haven’t seen the movie but looks alright. Hey Syd, what is like building the 1/100 Gundam Barbatos kit? Is it similar to a Master Grade Gundam kit?
I’m really hoping for 1/100s of the Hyakuri/ren. Between G-Rec’s Elf Bullock and IBO’s Hyakuri, it’s only a matter of time before we see a Gundam Jehuty. Or a Gundam Anubis. Mmm, Gundam Anubis…
Sad to hear Ryan being sick, hope he gets better soon. Todd did great filling in his role, although a bit timid but it was his first time appearing, so keep up the great work!
I honestly don’t have anything to say apart from my hype over the effect parts in the Origin RX-78, so I’ll just chip in with the requested SUPER FUMINAAA!
SUPER FUMINA! No but in all honesty, holy cow! Giving away two master grades in one box is super generous! I just hope whoever gets them likes their design, as myself isn’t too fond of the Double X design, but to each their own.
So the Origin RX-78’s core fighter is something akin to an accordion? Crumpling in on itself in order to save space to fit inside just the top of the chest instead of filling out the entire chest cavity?
Seems like it’s sort of borrowing from the GP01 design, then, excluding the backpack integration. It also seems like it would be very very finnicky indeed. Personally, I’m fine if the core fighter gimmick is discarded altogether (as it is here).
I really like the Hyakuri since the first time I saw in the anime.
Good proportions, quite “realistic”, meaning that is believable as a fighting machine for fighting in space (not on land with those little feet)!
It miss only one thing! It doesn’t transform completely in a MA form! Only the arms disappear. It should be very fun to make it full transformable! i hope a good modeler will try that!
Wanna know why the RX78 Origin ver. release right now? Because they will retool this kit in the form of the Full Armor Gundam for Thunderbolt, probably towards the end of next year. Wanna bet?
Gotta say, props to the new guy, he didn’t do a bad job. It’s obvious he isn’t really comfortable with the camera; yet he still did a good job of showing off his kits.
Hopefully Ryan feels better soon, keep up the good work guys!
Welcome to the show Todd! You did great with the Hyakuri and Hyakuren! love those kits. but the MG Origin RX-78-02 is just amazing, I love how that kit looks and the gimmicks, all of it, cannot wait to build it in the future ( i hev the Titanium Finish 2.0 on the way for X-mas so must likely I won’t build the Origin for a while).
Can’t wait for next weeks show with the MK II and 1/100 Barbatos.
I like the IBO models, they have a very non-gundam feel (they look more like armored core mecha) and i like that oddness. Im corssing my fingers for a 1/100 Hyakuri
A New MG RX-78-02 and new cool gimmicks with it! Looks beautiful and functional.
Would prefer to get the Hyakuri over the Hyakuren due to those spider like eyes.
Looking at the 1/100 “unbox” it looks to me the upsize of 1/144, but can’t w8 till next episode to see you’re review in detail before I decide to get it. I am expecting to see people buying a bunch of Super Fuminas modding them to their favorite JPop/KPop groups; hope theirs one on SNSD.
i’m still torn between getting the rx-78-2 3.0 or the origin… i want the new features but prefer the overall general detail, look and proportions of the 3.0
This episode of Gunpla TV was fantastic! So many questions that I had were answered regarding the MG Origin RX-78-02. And the showcase on more IBO kits was awesome! I’ve got to get my hands on some of those kits because the show is shaping out to be one of the best Gundam series in a long time.
Looking forward to see you guys put that 1/100 Barbatos together, I am very interested in why it is not thought to be a Mastergrade being that it has an internal frame. I also found it interesting that the 2 HG’s you showed from IBO were more the standard HG design and not frame centric like the Graze and Barbatos HG. Keep up the good work.
Question for Syd. Now that you have seen the runners and (possibly) build the 1/00 Barbatos and seen the runners and set up for the Hi-Res Barbatos, how similar do you think the kits will be or do you think the Hi-res will be closer to an “MG” style IBO kit?
You should have the new guy more often so he can review non gundam kits. When are you guys gonna review the new Macross fighter that just came out? Also, when are you going to have a sale on Hobby Japan magazines again?
It kinda sucks that the 1/100 Barbatos doesnt get the mace, but I’ll probably still get it my next paycheck. I really like the IBO MS designs. They feel fresh
Wow it was like a double episode in one, good job guys.
Never owned a Gundam X or XX kit before.
Has there been any news on the RG EW Gundam Wing kits aside from yet another Wing Zero variant soon to be released, I’m hoping for a Heavy arms, and Altron/Shenlong release.
I’ve seen photo reviews of 1/100 Barbatos and I’m a bit dissapointed in stickers amount and their placement. I know it’s basically NG and we’ve seen worse, but… dunno, at least yellow parts on shoulder pads could’ve been actual yellow parts and not stickers = Will be waiting for next episode for your oppinion, guys. I’ve already got HG version and not sure if I want to get mostly the same thing just in another scale.
The barbatoos and origins look great, can’t wait for mine to arrive, love the customer service from hlj, when ever I’ve needed them they go above and beyond to help.
Not a big fan of IBO mechs.. aside from the Barbatos. Your new sidekick reminds me of Kiran Yamato, must be his voice. Wish Ryan well, as usual an excellent episode!
That’s a long one. Thx for reading my “failed” comment. Syd, I did follow you on the MS A and MS B mention in your gunply expo video. Thx again for further clearing up the information. I did receive the package, and just started on the IBO barbatos. My 4 year old son is starting to be able to recognize HLJ boxes.
Since you wanted to know about the SD EX standard, it is disgusting when unpainted (Like bandai didn’t even try for a $6 kit). When I built my RX782 ex standard I had to paint all the color because the stickers didn’t cut it. I love the Double X and the X and would love to colony drop those out of your hands!
I just finished building the new Origin Gundam I received from HLJ, and I’m loving it so far, although I do wish it came with a few more markings, similar to the standard 3.0. I already have the X, but would love to win that DX!
I’m really happy that Bandai has made some MG’s of the older series like the gundam X and the RE 100’s. Finally some of my favorite suits are getting 1/100 scale kits.
Wow! Double X and X are both favourites of mine but they’re generally out of my price range, I hope I win!
Also, I was wondering if you guys could do a comparison for the new HG Revive Qubeley with the old HG one. Specifically if it can do the classic pose with the hands on it’s hips.
Anyway, great episode guys, keep up the good work!
2 master grade give aways hell ya wouldn’t mind something like that XD.
super fumina is nice but bandai should really try harder and make her more like the recent frame arms girls kit, honestly fumina cant compare really shes out matched.
and speaking of frame arms girls any idea why kotobukiya only makes a small amount of frame arms girl kits!? they sold out faster then i could blink my eyelids.
I bought one to test out kit bashing with gundam kits to make my own gundam girl, it worked out perfectly except I cant get more to make others.
Seeing all these new revive kits and RG kits, makes me feel like Bandai didn’t spend enough time creating all those old kits, haha. Of course, that’s not true, but we do see some big improvement comparing to the older kits, especially with 1/144 scales.
Todd did a great job, although I subjectively find his voice a bit intimidating, maybe I’m just not used to it yet.
Interesting design on the Hyakuri. Am really looking forward to hear what you guys think about the NG Barbatos. Hope mine arrives within the next few days as well.
welcome aboard todd. something nice to watch as i build me a gunpla. may have to get me a super fumina. maybe build her as i mod a beargguy for my GF. i would love that X and double-X gundams. keep it up guys
Todd seemed very nervous the whole time, are you threatening or something Syd? But seriously, that was good for (what I guess was) his first time in front of the camera. Keep up the good work guys, I’m really loving the short gundam reviews you do.
thank you for the mystery box which had the RG Zeta 3. can’t wait for the 1/100 IBO. is there a way to replace parts for gundam kits and do you ship to apo boxes because i just move to kadena afb japan
re: MGs
I have my concerns about MG kits (size and price) so I haven’t delved into them yet. I recently ordered a couple of RGs because they were on sale, but they’ll be in the same scale as the HGs I already have.
re: Revive HGs
I like how the Revive treatments have been turning out so far, filling the gap in detail and articulation between the old HGs and RGs. I wonder if the Strike Freedom will get a Revive.
re: IBO kits
I know that there have been older kits that started out with basic accessories / builds, like the Exia and the 00 Gundam, and more parts were added later. It does not seem uncommon to get more ‘complete’ kits once the series is over. My concern with the IBO kits is that, because of the parts-swapping nature that allows for more customization, a gunpla may not be considered complete unless you can mix and match multiple kits. Even the Options kits come with parts for more than one MS. The problem is that there are people like me with a limited budget and limited shelf space, so how can we efficiently complete a Barbatos or Hyakuri?
I am sure there will be many posts this time, lol. The chest piece of the Origin RX looks… feminine because of the angle and placement of the yellow piece. Otherwise it looks great though I still prefer the 3.0 version.
Great episode guys! That RX 78-2 Origins version looks awesome! I would really like to have an MG kit for the Guntank Origins version! I like those new kits from IBO, I’m looking forward to the 1/100 Gusion! Can you give us an idea how big that kit is? Its a whooping 5000 yen so I guess this is massive. I want that triple X!!! I was tempted to buy the MG double X (Along with all the Gundam Wing MG kits I ordered from HLJ) but I’ll cross my fingers first and see if you will give me this kit!
I picked up a pair of SD EX from eBay and built them. Very simple kits and goes quite fast to build. However much of the details are stickers, and they are hollow from the back. They pose pretty well though, since they have real polycaps. Quite cheap also, I really enjoyed the two kits I got, and might pick up more later on. Great kit to give away as presents to someone that has not built any gunpla before, cleans up well with nub marks as well.
Im loving my HG Barbatos. So I’m hoping there will be an MG version. Since my favourite line is PG. and all the PG’s have an MG version. Would love to see the Barbatos and its giant mace in 1/60 form.
After much consideration I think I will attempt to convert this frame arms girl into gundam feince rinascita girl!
did a very quick sticky tack modification,This is what I…
With the Gunpla Expo only two days away we won’t be able to film a video of this guy like we normally would but that still doesn’t prevent us from showing you everything that new 1/100 MG The Origin RX-78-02 […]
It looks like the Core Fighter has been sacrificed so they could fit an LED unit in the chest. My gripe with the backpack can be fixed with a little scratch building, but the same cannot be said for the Core Fighter itself.
The Core Fighter was completely redesigned for Gundam The Origin making it much more compact than the original FF-X7 Core Fighter. I was hoping that this MG release would include the updated core fighter as a means to further differentiate it from the RX-78-2 which seems to have used the same FF-X7 since 1995.
articulation is definitely there but i have mixed feelings with the proportions. still deciding between this or the 3.0 … @Mathew, what was your gripe with the backpack?
In this episode of Gunpla TV Ryan is ranting while Syd introduces everyone to the adorable Ms. Super Fumina. Of course, we talk Star Wars, games, and the upcoming Gunpla Expo as well so enjoy the show!
Super Fumina hype is real. Expected as much, EA is the worst company. Excited about the up-coming Gunpla Expo Japan 2015. I am hoping to see announcement of the next RE and RG kits! RE Kshatriya please. haha
Robot girls with maid skirts, guns and spats; God, I love Japan 😀
To Ryan: The role of Super Fumina was that the character who made her had a crush on the actual Fumina and challenged his rival to a Gunpla building contest. To show his love for Fumina, he built the Super Fumina for the competition (without Fumina’s permission, and to her embarrassment). He didn’t win, and challenged his rival to a battle using the Super Fumina to fight (once again, without Fumina’s permission, and to her embarrassment).
That episode was hilarious, especially when he was talking about its features and the fact it could wink and the actual Fumina is right behind him ready to rage kill.
Yes i want to win the kit Lindsey built or the burning, And guys smart ones do have a caps lock you just hold done the change button til its solid in color.
I just realized that the Powered GM Cardigan might have been a test to see if people would be interested in Thunderbolt kits. Looking at it like that Fumina was used to test a lot of things for Bandai.
Hey guys great show as always.I just wanted to be a testament to the great customer support at HLJ My problem had been resolved within 2 of my request. I look forward to your coverage of the gunpla expo. Have a nice week
Hoping for a RE 1/100 Kshatriya. An MG Kshatriya would be my holy grail kit, but I can see why it may never be a thing. Also hoping to win the burning gundam.
Great episode as always, cant wait for the expo video. And i 100% wanna win that Vrabe, the Build Burning is akso acceptable ^_^. And the Super Fumina is from the last episode of Build Fighters TRY where the actual character, Hoshino Fumina, finds out her ‘stalker’ has made a gunpla based off of her, without her permission, and entered it in a model builders’ competition
Can’t wait to see the new kits being released, Enjoying IBO suits so far and MUST know what other suits await! +O+ Also pray to win the Hi nu-gundam Vrabe
I’ve been in a job of high customer service, and from experiencing if you’ve wanted to get anything done you go talk to someone. Directing someone to forums is without a doubt lazy, and often enough the community is more helpful, just look at a recent Bethesda that came out…. and the community will put more effort in to fix it then Bethesda. Because money.
I cannot wait for the Gunpla Expo news! If only I could go and get myself that 35th Anniversary Gunpla base… I guess I’ll find myself a Super Fumina to build while I wait.
I’d love to get a few Super Fuminas and do some customizations, you know, a full Super Fumina squad… called the Furious Fumina Five… or something awful like that.
Hahaha Ryan you cracked me up and good job getting it off your chest. Go for it, Awesome rage mode dude. Really looking forward to see gunpla expo and great episode as always guys.
It’s the Clark Kent/Superman syndrome; he’s too stupid and bumbling to believe he’s this [enter descriptive here]. So Jar Jar could possibly be the Lord of the Sith.
Great episode!.
First time seeing Ryan raging like this and I totally agree with you on how bad steam customer service is!
Anyway, hope you guys have fun at the gunpla expo, I look forward to follow the Gundam builders world cup and look forward to seeing your next episode.
Great episode guys and you won’t get any help out activision they couldn’t have great customer service EVEN IF IT KICK THEM IN THE BALLS they wouldn’t be any better and thanks for the episode
Have a great time at the gunpla expo, wish i could go but i’m stuck in Australia and still in school. can’t wait for some new kits to be announced, still waiting for the graze to get to Australia as the Barbatos has just arrived.
Hi ryan and syd I was just wondering for a awesome prize and that would be a gunpla shopping bag that you get in expo events 😛 cool design and would be awesome to get some goceries while carrying a gunpla shopping bag 🙂 anyways I hope to win one of those gunplas 🙂 keep up the work guys!!!
Can’t wait to see what’s at the Gunpla Expo, I’m really hoping the next RE/100 is the Kshatriya, it’s just too perfect to not be made for the RE/100 line, MG kits from Thunderbolt would be awesome, can’t wait to see what Bandai is planning
Keep up the hard work guys, great episode like always 😀
Great Show Guys BTW
What can you say about the Upcoming Star wars Rebels Season 2 and the Star Wars Rouge One? They Say in Rouge One, Donnie Yen is one of the main cast
Also Super Fumina is the First Gundam Girl HG since most of the MS Girls are Action Figure
Super Fumina is cute. I remember the episode in which she shows up and it was fun also for a grown up like me!
What I like of this kit is that opens up lots of new possibilities for Bandai. For example they can use what thy learn doing this kit to do lots and lots of MS Girls! I like those illustrations of girls dressed with a mecha suit. I think that Bandai is ready to do them in plastic kits easily now!
PS No news about the Bandai Star Wars kits? Are they lost forever for us foreigners?
Disney is sticking to their distribution strategy. (Revell, which produce their own kits for the US market, came out and said it had nothing to do with the restriction on Bandai SW kits outside of Asia.) So that means no Bandai SW kits through HLJ or other international retailers. You can get them through friends/family/etc. in Japan, or resellers on Ebay and other places that’ll sell them at a markup.
There’s also the possibility of Revell/Fine Molds/etc. getting US distribution rights to Bandai’s kits. Not likely, but possible. I think.
Tell us how you really feel about customer support Ryan! Looking forward to some expo coverage next week. Hope they show us a mg with a completely new mold. Probably not this year. Bandai is really letting the mg list pile up.
I am loving the IBO kits. Can’t wait to see what is shown off at gunpla expo! Must admit I’ve held off on black ops 3 for the moment. I’ve found the online side of things just aren’t as fun as they used be. Darn teenagers 😀
OMG I got my comment on the last episode read on the show! Thanks guys! (fangirl scream goes here).
The IBO kits are lloking awesome, can’t wait for your coverage of the Gunpla Expo to totally geek out to what’s to come.
Keep making so awesome shows guys my week cannot begin with a dose of Syd and Ryan and new gunpla!
Great job as always guy and thank you Sensei Syd for teaching me a new Japanese word. Also I can’t wait until I get my vrabe in the mail!!!
Ryan, the ability to financially self recover has allowed the Black Ops franchise and their poor customer service to keep on resurrecting. I’m positive, this franchise has acquired abilities of a gaming monopoly, with the HELP OF ACTIVISION!!!! (Que in Shining Finger Theme)
Ryan:”This media stardom grants me an awesome power. It’s coverage tells me to inform the public. This Take my frustration, my rage and all of my sorrows!!! RYANNN RAAANNNTTTING.”
(G Gundam Reference)
Hopefully after the rant you have let some pressure off and some “nerd” will start for forum to help you out! We are all family here and it is our duty to look out for one and other!
mecha pantsu! on a scale of 1 to wtf’s wrong with me, i wonder what it means to be 28 and still not mature enough to not be amused by that. oh well, amusement aside, i do dig the ‘mecha musume’ genre and that super fumina kit does seem pretty cool for what it is; not sure about the maid outfit, though. right now i find myself more favoring the designs of the recent frame arms girls kits. no frills; just girls, armor, and weapons.
by the way, Ryan, i can’t really relate to any of what you were raging about previously, but i could feel your anger all the way through the interweb to england. IT WAS INTENSE! (and oddly inspirational; way to go!)
Thanks for the work you guys do, Syd and Ryan; keep on keepn on!
hey guys. another great episode. that controversy about IBO is misleading. he didn’t shoot innocents. he shot first the men who were using the kids as shields, then he shot a fellow soldier as a last request.
as for super fumina, it was the competition model at the end of the build fighters series. it was built without fuminas knowledge by Minato Sakai. he was disqualified
I sold my Vrabe to my friend, hoping to win this one! I pre-ordered an HGBF super fumina and the only thing that is bothering me about this kit is the eyes.
Great episode guys. Can’t wait until the gunpla expo announcements. Personally, I’m hoping for either a MG G-Self or MG Build/Try Burning Gundam. I’m looking forward to your coverage of the expo, and to hearing your opinions on the new announcements. Keep up the good work
Enjoyed watching the episode on my commute from work. A great way to unwind ^_^ Looking forward to the next episodes episode, dying to know what new kits will be coming out.
While the big kits in the RE/100 line are interesting and great to have, I would much rather have more 1/100 scale grunt units being produced. Gotta build that army man!
One thing that occurred to me when I saw the Super Fumina was that Bandai could now release model kits of the Mobile Suit pilots. You could then display your favourite Mobile Suit with its pilot, or recreate the last act of Mobile Suit Gundam where Amuro and Char fought hand to hand after they’d destroyed the Gundam and Zeong inside the Space Fortress A Baoa Qu.
So, did I win yet? Why don’t you guys do a “showcase” of Hobby Japan magazine? It fits with gunplay and like myself, I’d like to know a little about the contents before I buy one of these magazines due to the shipping being so much compare to the magazine itself.
I’m completely with you, i’d love to see the Zaku I thunderbolt in an MG form, the color just works together and just looks great. Also wouldn’t mind getting either that elf bullock or Try Burning ;P
If the Hi-Nu gundam really was Amuro’s best mobile suit, the Char would have certainly gotten his butt kicked in an instant.I’m hoping to see what “Mystery Hg A” and “Mystery Hg B” are and can’t wait to see your guy’s coverage of the show!
I can’t help but think that the Super Fumina is too super cute. That thought feels so dirty. What is the 1/100 line about is it going to take the place of the MG and REs?
I am excited about any NEW MG and RG kits. Now that we are past build fighters, bring on the MGs.
A company with good customer’s service always make happy customers! hehehe, Actually Ryan, Super Fumina was an entry kit of Minato Sakai for a Meijin Cup which is like a GBWC in real life.
Hurray me. If my comment happens to be called again, feel free to give it to whoever’s below me… unless it’s for the Elf Bullock, in which case OUT OF MY WAY PLEBS.
Thanks for that reminder about the RE/100 line, Syd. The kits immediately after the Nightingale being “regular”-sized kits caused me to forget that tackling larger designs was one of the inspirations for the RE/100 line in the first place.
I asked this last week and I’ll ask again: Can we “donate” kits, especially lesser-shown ones, to be featured on the show? I have several Frame Arms/Armored Core/Macross kits in Private Warehouse or on preorder, and would love to see them discussed. (They don’t get enough attention.)
Hope you two have a fun time at the event! Hope to see more 1/100 IBO announcements!
That Fumina kit is the best thing that happened to HGBF line since the second Beargguy! 😀
Would like to see some group build of that kit… and even better, so see everybody put them as their entry into some scale model contest 🙂 Than would be awesome! 😀
Another thing: If you see an ARX-7 Arbalest at Kotobukiya’s booth/event, take lots and lots of pictures, please. I REALLY want a nice complement to my pair of ARX-8 Laevateins.
Decals or stickers? If decals, it’s perfectly fine. If stickers, it should also be perfectly fine, though an alternate strategy might be to leave those shiny stickers off until AFTER you gloss-coat, and then apply them.
Haha Ryans rant xD
I left a comment the last time mentioning how I was disappointed with the look of Fumina (mainly the stale face), but I still want one… Bandai got me…
Super Fumina was featured in the last episode, like only for 1-2 minutes, and the outfit isn’t related to her role in the series really. The guy who created it made the gunpla based on his fantasy of her.
Thanks for the review on the Super Fumina. Now I know what to expect when package from you arrives 🙂
Can’t wait (but I’ll have to guess) for your updates from the expo! Now which one should I click on… 1/144 MS A or MS B… or both. DUH!
Nice episode as always! The moment Super Fumina showed up in the anime was very funny, nice to see that it translated so well to plastic. Great gifts also, that VRABE is really cool!
It’s COD most people that play that game are trolls. Activision doesn’t care about their customers that’s why they pump out a new game every year all they care about is money.
I know it’s been a long time since its release, but I just love the HG Graze. Also, what the heck happened to the MG Gundam Age 3 and MG Gundam Age FX. Did they just forget the two model kits or something?
If I win one of those kits I’ll make a video saying that HLJ is the best Gunpla shopping site and everyone should buy from you guys… maybe. I’ll think about it anyway.
I can’t help but nod to what Ryan was saying about customer service, Its extremely important since trust between a consumer and a seller is already shaky ground to begin with and you can’t have a product sell without a consumer.
Its sickening to think that with all of Activision’s assets already going above and beyond that of an average video game publisher’s budget by tenfold they can’t even offer reasonable service for their products.
I too have been burned by Activision’s lack thereof support and thanks to that it ended up burning $70 in my wallet for a product I can’t even use here in the states.
Oh well, Just another reason to not give my money to Activision and instead give my money to HLJ and further this addictive hobby.
Hi guys! Thanks for another entertaining episode. Ryan, sorry to hear about the awful Customer Service. 🙁 I like the Super Fumina. I remember laughing out loud when the design premiered in Try Fighters.
Have fun at the Gunpla Expo!
You do realize that a real 1/144 scale Fumina would be about 1cm tall, right? And that a 1/100 wouldn’t be much taller? Assuming real-world Fumina is about 160cm and the kit about 16cm (MG Wing/X size), that means the kit is about 1/10 scale. You’d want her to be 1/12 or 1/13 scale to more closely match HG heights.
loved the review done on super fumina. The rage on customer service was also entertaining :). I did had the change to deal with HLJ customer service one time I would like to say that it’s one of the best I’ve experienced so far. Keep up the good work.
By the way, wouldn’t mind getting either kits as I don’t have neither 😛
Man, those pink stickers really bring the quality of that kit down. Nothing a little paint can’t fix, but I really wish that Bandai had just molded it in pink instead.
Blow on the dice and hope I win. Come on Elf land on me!
Ryan I feel your pain, companies now just directing you to forums where 90% of the answers are not helpful but comments just saying “why would you do that?” Glad to say when I need help from HLJ there was an actual person typing in the answer.
I’ll first say im in Canada and new games are generally 69.99$ or the BIG name games that are 79.99$ so i know your pain Ryan. secondly I KNOW YOUR PAIN WITH FORUM SOURCING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The playstation/sony forum BS is soooo annoying. Beginning IBO on episode 1 hoping it lives up to expectations, Thunderbolts as well.
That V-Rabe though 😉
The super fumina is a mix design of the main girl character and her first gundam the powered gm cardigan in build fighters try. Don’t know why it has part of a maid outfit on, it’s japan I suppose. ;p
The concept of mecha musume isn’t exactly a new one, but it seems as though Bandai’s experiment here is extremely polarizing: you love it or you hate it. But either way, displaying Super Fumina seems like a move that’ll lead to awkward questions.
From what I’ve seen the eyes seem glassy and flat, which is kind of freaky. I would also opt to paint instead of using the eyelash stickers. I would be disappointed that the skirt and apron aren’t more flxible, but also that the hair isn’t softer. Maybe they could have used a softer plastic, like on the S.A.Figurts line for some of their clothes (one of the Saber figures has it).
The part that surprises me is that Sakai put Fumina in an outfit she’s never worn. If not her school uniform, then why not use her sports outfit instead? And her shorts could have indeed been molded in colour.
Much of the accessories seem to be inspired by the GM Powered Cardigan, Fumina’s first gunpla. But the clear green pieces seem inspired by the ones from the Star Winning Gundam. The entire piece makes me wonder: how well does Sakai REALLY know Fumina?
1. Not using the lenses for the eyes makes it look a little less freaky.
2. Not using the bottom portions of the skirt armour can increase articulation, but unless you want a torso piece whose thickness does not match properly with the chest or waist pieces, you must use the apron skirt. Likewise, you could only skip the headdress if you have something to fill in the gap in the top of the head.
3. Not using the ankle or shoe tongue armour can also increase articulation. Mind that the height combined with the smaller feet make the ‘Super Fumina’ extremely backheavy.
4. Stickers that were okay to use are the eyes and ear. The rest, I recommend painting in if you can due to all the curved surfaces.
5. And critically, if you plan on trying to give ‘Super Fumina’ functioning wrist vulcans from the ‘HGBC Powered Arms Powereder’ kit, note that both the arms and the vulcan housings have pegs on them. Note also the curve to Super Fumina’s arms. I tried to fill in the gaps by cutting the pegs on both, but didn’t get the height exactly right. I cemented the vulcans on, but am not sure about the connections’ strength. I think modelling putty would be better here.
I also gave the Powered Arms themselves to my figma Drossel, who is pleased to finally meet a Gunpla that is taller than her.
