Great episode as always guys! You often bring a smile to my face, and a little frustration, when you get things wrong when showing off a model or continuity errors. Also the “original weapon” that comes with the beam javelin looks like the hyper napalm launcher equipped beam rifle from the first few episodes of the original Mobile Suit Gundam series.

Bandai doesn’t allow it. Same reason why Blue Fin and other official distributors don’t get P Bandai stuff in stock.

The Tryon 3 is meh, then again never really liked the ZZ Gundam design. But I can totally see a GaoGaiGar custom using the Tryon 3!

Sid. i think you forget to compare the size of the Tryon3 with a normal HG kit which is in one of the question. To be honest im not a fan on this kit as the designs are kina off from a gundam, Looks kina like Zoids with Superrobots.

I pre ordered every new kit this month apart from the MG Fenice and I honestly don’t know which I’m most excited to build first. Plus the MG The-O came back in stock, adding even more excitement to my order.

Also, the Dijeh is Amuro’s suit in Zeta where he fights along side the Hyaku Shiki. Fun point, Amuro’s Dijeh is similar in design to the Gelgoog (Char’s final mobile suit before going mobile armour), while Char’s Hyaku Shiki is very similar to the RX-78 2.

Tryon’s sword looks amazing but other wise not my favorite kit.
I am really surprised how far Japan is going with their starwars stuff.

My Tryon is on its way with 5 other kits and a paint set! I will be building and painting for quite a while (I already have 3 kits sitting here on my shelf I need to get to as well).

Speaking of which, any chance at a build video for some Macross kits, more specifically the transformable kits? I have always wanted to build one, but they look daunting to be honest.

You can only get P-Bandai stuff from people that actually buy it and resell it at pretty insane prices. Similar to what Gentei kits website does. Speaking of Tryon and it’s black P-Bandai counterpart, you could just buy the regular one for more than half the price of the P-Bandai one resellers would ask and just paint it black and gold yourself. The insane crest piece is in both kits and come as an ordinary switchable V fin. The only “exclusive” you get with P-Bandai Tryon is the different colored clear parts that come in yellow instead of pink.

Trion 3 more like Daitarn 3 fused with some power rangers megazord XD Epic kit on my opion for the fans of this type of models

I am getting the feeling that there will be a master grade of the Tryon 3 sometime in the near future. I will guess that the transformation for this kit will be somewhat different than the high grade where the booster’s and hands will be more inside the other parts rather than swapping the parts for each transformation.

An Earth Wind & Fire song…? September of course. When the weapon set for the revive RX 78-2 comes out. Coincidence????

Just a word of caution. I don’t think they let folks into the US who can’t tell the difference between the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building ;). Watched this episode from my hotel room in 池袋. Thanks for the great show. Now, a confession. Half way through the show decided to go out to pick up the origin zaku 06r after you guys talked about it. This is after I picked up and built the char’s zaku ii a week earlier in Hong Kong. Last confession, I’ve also picked up a couple of GFT kits from Gundam Front.

I’ll return to my old ways and order from you guys when I’m back in Canada.

The Mega Shiki is actually based off of the Delta Gundam. The Hyaku Shiki was a simplified version of the Delta Gundam, removing all the transformation and just making it a simple Mobile Suit. In other words, the Mega Shiki is the Delta Gundam with parts from the Hyaku Shiki. So, if they want to make a Mega Shiki MG, they would have to make a Delta Gundam MG first.

Tryon 3 is pretty cool, not sure if I really want one yet.

I’m actually working on my first paint job with a HG 1/144 Air Master. Nothing special, just a slightly darker paint scheme from the normal.

hey Syd dont worry about your cutters you can get a new pair here its the exacto knife that will be a issue. The Tryo 3 kit looked alright together and by the way in the video you put the wings on backwards. I do like the air master gundam. I have a real question When will they stop making Gundams look Childish like in the last 3 series except build fighters.

Great Episode Guys, I am surprised they only did the 2 versions of the black tri stars in that one kit, considering if I remember from the OAV it seemed the 3rd looked the same as the others it just had a large axe as it’s weapon which would not take much to put into this kit.

Finally found a site where I could watch this anime. When I saw the Tryon 3 transform, I just lost it, Bandai mind as well just throw Voltron in there. At least Voltrons transformation was better. Bandai, stop making transformable Gundams. They don’t fit into the Gundam universe. Anyway, that’s my 2 cents.

I built the HG ZZ, and it wasn’t too bad.. but i hadn’t planned to pick up Tryon 3.. after this episode I am reconsidering.. would be nice to mod it into an ‘Obari-style’ Tryon.. And its got tons of leftover parts for other customs. Great episode. Wish i could afford to visit L.A.

too bad I can’t make it down to LA, congrats to the person that won the mega size. I have a bunch of panel lining to do on a six different RGs and another one is one the way. Only two more to complete the collection. The give aways for this week look pretty cool too, most of the HG I get I use to practice my painting just because they are so much cheaper, but they are pretty cool when you don’t mess them up too much.

A tad disappointed I missed out on that mega size.. It actually looked a lot better than I expected. I like quite a few of the transforming MSs designs, but generally only in their mobile suit mode, except for a few exceptions like the wing zero.

Another great show guys, Keep it up! I love all the transforming kits. Always been a fan of the Zeta itself, and I find the Arios as another great kit.

This was one of my favorite episodes ever! The Origin Black Tri-Stars’ Zakus look amazing, and I can’t wait to get my hands on the HGUC Revive Guncannon. The HGUC Guncannon from 1999 is one of my favorite kits and I have three of them.

Dera Ryan, if I may give you a suggestion. If you plan to weather the Snow Speeder, use the water slides and some mark softer. You have a lot of experience with your pink Raptor…. If you use a gloss clear after the decals, the weathering will fill in all the crevasses. Think when using the stickers, the wash will conform to the edges of those.
Please show us some pictures when you get it done. Thanks mate

OK please stay away form In & Out they are good but you have to make sure they cook the burgers and fries are well done but if you do go get the Animal style it isn’t on the menu but it is the best they have. You also have to Hit up the Original Tommy Burgers on Rampart and Vermont. They are a lot better and please keep the mega Age 2 i will take a Proto Wing Zero instead.

Enjoy your trip to Anime Expo! The Hyaku Shiki 2.0 has really great gimmicks and articulation.

one of a kind mega size =) haha love it. So sometimes I run into situations where small parts break in my kits, mostly due to not being as careful as I should. Do you guys think it’s easier to use a heavier glue and sand it down once it dries out or a lighter glue and hope the crack doesn’t show as much?

The Guntank was actually used in space in the original Mobile Suit Gundam. It’s got really tiny, really slow thrusters on it that allow it to move at about a mile an hour. Probably not the thing you want to take against an MS though. Anyways, great episode as always! I’ll have to empty my pockets for that Hyaku Shiki bling…

Now when I see Syd “moving” it live I must say that engineers at Bandai did really good job with the Hyaku Shiki! I don’t really care about the super perfect articulations but this kit definitely deserves its 2.0 tag! Still not sure If I want to see it go that way instead of making kits with more details/better proportions and stability…

MEGA size me Ryan

Hey guys! Great show as always.I really like to win that Mega Size Gundam Age 2. Gundam Age has been a part of my favorite anime series to watch as there is intrigue in the plot.(also I’d like to commemorate this as the 1st of Ryan’s giveaways)

Even though I only own a single Mega Size kit, I really think Bandai should bring that line back. It had a ton of value, even if it was out of scale for some builders.
Nothing like showing folks a 1/48 Scale Gundam next a 1/48 scale tank or armor kit. That really emphasized the mega-size aspect of a Gundam!
They also made great projects for practicing painting. You could do a ton of detail work on them, and it was easier to fix mistakes since they were so large.

Dropping the ball there Syd, good thing Ryan’s so forward thinking!
I’m currently up to the arms on the Hyaku Shiki 2.0 and it’s a wonderful build so far, it reminds me a lot of the Nu and Hi-Nu.

So I want to ask something! HLJ is so famous all around the world and it sells lots of gunpla. Are you able to tell us wich gunpla (and sci-fi in general) models are the most sold by you in these years?
Which is the most sell Mg, or hguc o rg till now? I don’t need numbers, just an idea of what people buy! Because, for example, I hate the whole Reconguista stuff and I will be very surpresed discoring that is huge success at HLG. I think that the most sold MGs are all the Verka’s. Probably New Gundam or Sinanju as best sellers. Am I wrong?

Sorry for nit picky correction, but the Tryon is not splitting, it is three individual gunplas to begin with, which combines into the giant you see in the image.

I still still a bit phased to why the Tryon is so popular since it doesn’t look that attractive. People might be not be as judgemental to the astethisc as me, and maybe rather focus on the constructions and gimmicks.

Haha, and yes, I can really relate to that “weapon block/fatigue” – *cough* Full Armor Unicorn *cough*. Also, really amazed by the updated Shiki! Bandai is clearly moving to the right direction.

I find the tryon 3 a really interesting gundam and to see how well it translates into a gunpla form

Leopard Da Vinci derived from the name “Leonardo” which is when Leopard (The base of the Gundam) when read by Japanese as “Leoparodo” similiar to “Leonardo” giving a subname Da Vinci

Also the Snowspeeder has the same Scale as the Megasize Age2, you’ll have an Idea what will happen when Gundam and Starwars collide.

Watching this episode really brought me back to the beginning. My first Gundam kit was the HG Hyaku Shiki which is still proudly sitting on my desk at work. It’s been many years and many models but I’m happy to say I’m still hooked.

Another thing you mentioned was the “Weapon Block” syndrome. Experiencing the myself self several times, I built the weapons first on my PG Unicorn this time. It was a nice change of pace from the typical front-to-back build and I’m happy with the results.

Have fun in Los Angeles and make sure to grab some Mexican food while you’re there too. In-n-Out is ok but the Mexican food there is awesome.

Hello Syd and Ryan,I have a question not really related to this episode(good one though) Do you have a list of MG or PG kits (or even HG’s and RG’s) that have a LED slots to them? The only kits I know that have them are the MG Nu Gundam Ver. Ka and MG Sazabi Ver. ka because they’re the only one’s I have at the moment. I’m too lazy installing LED’s manually(with all the wires and stuff) myself so its good to have kits with LED slots and just buy the Bandai LED’s. Speaking of LED’s… That Megasize Gundam Age 2 Normal has some fancy LED setup! If you give that to me I will be eternally greatful!!! Thanks guys!

The Hyaku-Shiki seems like it uses a lot of the inner frame of the Delta Plus. I really liked the Delta’s design, so I am thinking of picking the Hyaku up (of course after I get that RG Double 0).

I did some reading up on the leopards Vinci. It’s just a play in Leonardo da Vinci’s name. Love the guntank and the snowspeeder. Great show!

I’m not really a huge fan of the Age-1 but I do think the age-2 and 3 look pretty good.

I wasn’t sure about getting the Hayakushiki kit at first, but now seeing the poseability and gold finish I’ve started to fall in love with it. I’m in love with AGE-2 and all it’s variants since Asemu Asuno is probably my favorite AGE character. Cooler and better and more character development than his insane father and boring son.

I’ve been a fan the LEGENDARY GRUMMAN F-14TOMCAT was when I got the chance to sit in the cockpit of one while my dad was working on the engines. And this was when I was 6 years old back in 97.

I think people from the USA don’t include their country because we’re just not used to it. Unlike most other countries we don’t have a lot of other countries bordering us, and tend not to mail anything overseas.

About the question some commenter did about painting over the gold plating. That’s not a good idea, the paint won’t stick too well and it’ll be easily scrapped or scratched off.

If you’ve decided you want to paint it, to remove the gold plating just submerge the sprues in some household bleach it’ll done pretty quickly. Other alternatives are oven cleaners like Easy-off or drain cleaners like Drano, both of which contain sodium hydroxide. Also remember that these household cleaning products are toxic, so use gloves when handling them.

Can’t to see you guys at anime expo. a place you guys you have to eat at is In n Out burgers. It a west coast thing. Question i have is MG 00 vs RG 00 which would you recommend between these too.

I agree that Bandai needs to make the master grade build burning and try burning and put it together into one box, but for some reason I feel like it is going to be two separate boxes just like with the mg build strike and mg universal booster where we will be getting the mg build burning in one box and mg try burning parts in another. Hopefully Bandai will put the two into one box otherwise it would feel like wasting boxes.

Dear lord Build Strike. Anyway, I feel like more 3.0s or kits with the same or similar engineering to the RX-78-2 3.0 down the line, seeing as Bandai seems to be trying to beef up the HG line with stuff like the All Gundam Project, Revive HGs and of course those brilliant Origin kits.

Is that gold on the Hyakushiki similar to the gold in titanium kits just like the gold parts in the Nu Gundam ver Ka Titanium? I like this gold version better than the gold-plating of the older version. And those Star Wars kits that Bandai keep pumping out gets even more amazing! might pick up one as a gift. Love your vids guys, more power to you!

Great show as always, as of writing I’m anxiously awaiting my delivery of the Hyaku Shiki ver 2.0 from HLJ aka (anaheim electronics).

Don’t know if you guys know this already, but you can strip the chrome plating by soaking the parts in Bleach for awhile.

That Build Strike needs a home and a sexy paint job I’d be happy to help out with both 😀

Quick question: Is HLJ able to get the P-Bandai (online exclusives) exclusive kits and on that note how do you guys feel about P-Bandai ?

Oh, man. I want that Build strike Gundam Ver. S2

Nice episode once again guys! I think the reason why Bandai made an MG Amazing Red Warrior first is that the design is already made and ready for manufacturing. The casting molds can just be re-used from already existing RX-78-2 2.0 and just print out a few new runners to house the parts exclusive to the ARW. A BBG or Try BBG will just take more time to do and so why not make money out of something that is already readily available?

Still in gunpla kits and I do say my true 1st one was the 00 QuanT master grade.

I did have one kit before that but shamefully it got broken down.
I have many HGs right now and enjoy making those.
As well as my girlfriend who bought all the Zone of the Enders models and also started her own little collection of HGs and RGs.

Sometimes still tempted to buy a RG Wing Zero Custom or a MG Wing Zero Custom.
Heck maybe even a PG 00Raiser.

That Mg Shiki looks baller yo. Can wait for mine to get here so i can lay all ma chains and shiz on it.

Great look at HG Zaku II Origins and MG Hyaku Shiki. Congrats to the MG Strike Freedom winner PM. I hate this week’s prize, MG Build Strike. I wish there was no Build Fighters or Build Fighter Try series made. The there would be better MG kits from Gundam series that matters, like Reconguiata in G.

Awesome now that the Snowspeeder is released. Too bad they did not make a Dak figure and additional parts to recreate the damage Luke’s Snowspeeder took in the back.

Now I just need to see a bandai A-Wing and T-16 Skyhopper. I would be totally surprised if bandai decides to make a V-Wing model kit.

The gold on the Shiki looks great, probably the best gold (imo) to date, I wonder if the MG Phenex would have looked better with this matt version instead.

Gosh the Star Wars kits look so AWESOMEEE!!!
I have to get my hands in at leats one of those some time.
Any way I wanted to share that I just finished my first RG (EW Wing Zero) and it was an awesome build, I’ll try to post some pictures when I finish the decals and lines.

A MG of the Burning/Try Burning would be a dream! I haven’t seen the HG kits in my local spot yet (I leave in Cost Rica so go figure when they’´ll get here).
Any way I am still catching up on ALL episodes of Gunpla TV amd all the back to 80… gosh how time flies.

You guys rock and my Monday’s are not complete with out a healthy dose of Sid and Ryan.

Great job. Char’s Zaku 2 really got spiced up!

Hey Ryan and Syd finally gave me a Shout out, but it is pronounced REAL_REBEL_US or Real_Rebellious either way. i like the matte gold plating but i am worried if i build it ill mess up the finish when cutting the parts form the runners, also i wanted that strike freedom Gunpla but would like building it more. I want the BUILD STRIKE FULL PACKAGE please give it to me. As for what Syd said he hasn’t heard anything about the Build strike since build fighters show well news flash it is returning in the next build fighters show / ova and it will be sei lori vs. seika kamike at the world champion ships ok this is a little long so you can edit it.

could you explain more about the diferents types of gunpla versions because i have always loved the ver ka but you talked about the 2.0 or 3.0 versions and they seem to be a lot better than the other ones but i’m a littel confused.

its been a while since i last seen build strike! the memories…

I have only been building kits for a month now with the rg rx78-2 as my first kit. Now I have built 2 more and waiting for another 2 to get here and I can say one of my favorite things to do is building kits

G-self MG Would be nice that design has grown on me.

My hykushiki is sitting in the warehouse, waitting to be ship along with few more mg, can’t wait to get my hands on it.

lately been wanting to get hands on cyber formula as well, because 2015 is a special year for the anime, good old days.

And yes the build strike is pretty sweet! hopefully I can get my hands on it =D

Whao, Char’s Zaku seems a lot better than I had expected. My only Zaku is an unassembled RG, which doesn’t seem to get too much applause i’ve noticed, but maybe it’s time to grab this to see how it compares.

Great prizes this episode. The Strike is easily in my top 3 suits ever, so i’ve got my fingers crossed sooo hard. The Strike Freedom is only a smidgen behind in my rankings.

Gold gold gold… everybody is talking about that gold but in a case of Hyaku Shiki that’s a huge PITA for serious modellers. What I mean is that We need to pay for something we don’t want and need to get rid of before the actual painting. I understand that it will not sell well without that gold plating but I would be a nice idea if we will be able to order a cheaper version of that model just in gray plastic… but it is a great kit anyway 😀

PS.: that Origin ver of Char’s Zaku is very good for being “just” a HG. I recommend it over RG anytime 🙂

If any Build Fighters Try model gets the Master treatment, it should be the Star Winning Gundam – not enough love for the SDs, and I think it would look AMAZING at that scale and detail. Get to it, Bandai!

Was watching this while building the MG Aile Strike RM. Haven’t bought any of the Star Wars kits, but C3P0 looks great, and is definitely making me consider taking the dive for them. Also, the Hyaku Shiki looks gorgeous. Can’t wait till payday.

I think i prefer this new gold plating to the mekki one because it doesn’t hurt my eyes and it still looks good.

I wish they used that kind of gold on the unicorn fenix. looks so much nicer then the gold plated parts.

Just wondering. How will top coat (matt, semi and gloss) effect the gold finish? I’m not going to paint the gold parts, but definitely painting the rest of the kit and also applying decals. I wonder which top coat to use to protect the painted parts and decals. but still keep the same gold finish.

I can’t wait till you guys unbox that MG Fenice Rinascita. I have my dreams set on getting that kit. My friend, Andy, is going to Anime Expo so I’ll make sure he stops by at the booth to meet you guys for me. I should have come myself. Maybe next time. Another fine episode guys!
