Gunpla TV – Episode 277 – MODEROID Mazinkaiser!

With big red wings and a giant silver and gold sword the Mazinkaiser looks like a mighty fighting robot! Being the first release in Good Smile’s Moderoid lineup of plastic model kits, how does it stack up against the likes of Bandai model kits? For that you’ll need to watch to find out!

Kits in this episode:
MODEROID Mazinkaiser (Reissue)
1/72 Macross: VF-4

Level 75 Marketing Mage. Editor, admin, and occasional code monkey. Stand User in her free time. Though she does build kits when time allows, time doesn't allow often. Her favorite lines are Hasegawa's Mechatro WeGo line, Meng's World War Toons Pinky line, and weird miscellany like Platz's bonsai tree kits. In general, if it's a detailed miniature that's too small to be useful for anything other than taking up space, she'll probably love it.

    • I miss that from the older episodes. I still remember the one when Syd added metal parts to a Rozen Zulu (or was it a Geara Zulu?). Simple tutorials on basic techniques, but so enjoyable to watch!

  12. The ACKS VFG VF-31J Siegfried also came out. Unfortunately it is very sticker-heavy. But if you like Macross you probably won’t care. Supposedly the 30th anniversary version has better articulation.

  17. Interestingly enough you can actually make the knee bend of the mazinkaiser better if you do some modding to the back parts of the legs so the pieces will go in when you bend the legs

  18. The Moderoid Mazinkaiser sure looks good, solid color apps and detail for a first kit, just needs to work a little with the quality control.

  23. Interesting kits, I love Macross kits, though haven’t built one yet myself, I have a lot of kits to paint for the stop motion animation I’m working on. Mostly using Bandai’s Gundam kits but others too. Now that we got the Leo from Gundam Wing, I wonder if we’ll get others like the Aries, Tourus, or the mobile doll Virgos, both Oz and Whitefang! Just wishing! Great episode you two! Keep up the great work!

  32. Todd said something about a Mega Size Beargguy. Imagine if that happened! Considering the size of the parts and the lack of an inner frame, you could be able to store all your paints inside the model, lol

  48. i kind of wish mazinkaisers silver was sprayed in silver. kind of like the silver runners for ZZ ver ka.
it is very detailed and since the model is based on a painted figure from a different goodsmile line, it was sculpted to be metallic.
And a metallic finish brings out all the edges best.

    Lucky i have an airbrush!

Already ordered it from hlj 🙂
