Things are taking off this week with a look at a new VF-4 Lightning III Macross kit from Wave! Originally seen in the 1987 OVA “The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Flash Back 2012”, the VF-4 Lightning III was a successor to the previous and more well known VF-1 Valkyrie. We also take a quick look at the latest new Gundam releases in from Bandai!
Kits in this episode:
– 1/72 Macross: VF-4
– 1/144 HGUC Galbaldy Beta

The new webpage looks good!

Wow, these pictures are some of the best I’ve seen yet of the VF-4. Good resolution, good focus, all of it just really good. Even with the kit in hand (unbuilt), I can definitely use these for reference material. Thanks very much!
kai2kai
Great, thanks again. ^_^
The audio sound (voice) is low…. (pls check the mic battery… lol~ )
Condorman
Bearable episode ,thank goodness for David ,just wish Todd would stay off the helium 🎈
Castoff20
Another great review, love all things Macross! Love most things mecha for that matter! 😀
foxhound
I can appreciate a good U.N. Spacy spacecraft, even without any paint/decals.
Gaelio Zabi
If only this Macross can transform. Hope Fumina’s price will be affordable. And looking forward to the review of the Baldy Gal, oh wait…
Daniel
The VF-4 looks like a great kit. Looking at it at this blank state gives so many ideias o color scheme and such.
jeel
win!
Jeeg
The best Macross airplane for me will always be the VF-2SS Valkyrie II. In robot form is unbelievable! The best mecha design ever. I’m still waiting for a good quality model kit of it. In robot form or transformable.
BNuts
Non-transforming VF’s is not a problem after having dealt with parts falling off the A’CKS VFG VF-31J Siegfried’ constantly. Plastic cement is highly recommended, if you are looking at this kit. Also paint.
Ryzearn
My VFG stays together great only had one loose pieces on it and that was my fault for removing to much material when I was cleaning nubs
BNuts
Then you got a much more solid copy of it than I did.
Chitaum
Finally a Macross kit :v
chriselmoose
I’ve always wanted to try a macross kit. That kit would look great panel lined for sure.
Strayed
Its too bad Fumina got discontinued. She was sort of a stealth release imo. I never got a chance to preorder her :[.
De.Cancer
and the lucky number is comment number 18!
Azubal
All hail the holy random number generator and Sieg Zeon!
rub
no more fumina?
HeavyZero
Is there a problem with the mic? i can barely hear you talking.
ScreamingLamb
Lucky time!
TheShadowGamer
I kind of don’t get why there’s that orange plastic in the Fumina figure. It’s not for the colors so I guess it would be for some kind of glow effect?
Veemon24
Will be getting a gundam duel assault shroud soonish.
Ryzearn
I hope the RNG gods bless me this time
BuuFan
The Fumina is pretty cool, the VF-4 is cool too but not as much for me. Great video, cant wait for more to come.
Stellarium Celestia
Me likey new site!
Now, would someone please tell me where I left my mind, I can’t find it and I need it for this weekend. It kinda looks like an ordinary white rabbit, last seen near the Cave of Caerbannog. If found, do NOT approach by any means, simply run away, then inform me of it’s whereabouts
Thank you
Zeroconvoy
I love the way the Lightning looks.
carlos_yyo
hey! pick me ! pick me! i’m over here ! 😀

That multi-layered technique is pretty impressive. But I’m not a big fan of kits or figures that show too much skin.
gxal1995
the new fumina looks good, but i was a bit dissapointed that the arms are just regular molded color and the nub marks may cause a problem for some people.
CloakBall
I learned a lot about the Galbaldy Beta and liking the articulation. The V-4 design reminds me of the Yukikaze plane. I love this new product.
xboyalex
I hope they do more figures/kit like the fumina one, great idea
Vhiztified
That skin tone looks amazing, I hope Bandai will make more of the series
Penafred
Macross jets always look great
Momentai
I hope Bandai makes more Gundam Wing RG kits, like the Shenlong Gundam
Michael Faux
I love Fumina in Try but there are plenty of other Gundam Women that are more mature which I would want kits of more. Say like Sumeragi Lee Noriega, Murrue Ramius, or Cima Garahau.
McG
Great show! I’m just here waiting for the RE 100 Vigna Ghina and SD Cross Silhouette
Enrico Asa no Hoshi
I’m not into Macross, but that VF-4 looks pretty cool!
Enrico Asa no Hoshi
The new Galbaldy is an amazing kit. Can’t wait to paint it!
Manpig
The HG Galbaldy Beta has been one of those kits that I’ve really been looking forward to since release. I’ve always loved the Galbaldy Beta and when I heard that it was finally getting a modern kit, I was ecstatic.
I’m not too interested in the figure-rise Labo itself, but the engineering is smart. Hoping we can get some Gunpla in that tech for maybe gradient surfaces, maybe that way we can finally get a kit of the ELS Qan[T].
bigapone
Built one macross kit might have to try this new one
nsxz
Hope Bandai make more Super Robot kits!
EnsignModeler
those jet fighter planes look awesome. always admired the macross stuff
G-Raizer
great show guys, keep up the great work
EdgeyLu
I see Bandai made a good job with the Galbaldy Beta. I just hope they release other original suits based on custom kits from Build Divers, like an HGAC Gundam Altron (one can dream)
Chefan
I would like to be able to put together that Galbaldy Beta. Collecting figures is exciting, but being able to assemble oneself is even more exciting
Enrico Asa no Hoshi
When you start painting you will enjoy even more! Give it a try, it’s worth it 😉
Enrico Asa no Hoshi
Loving the new website. Cleaner and more cheerful.
Greetings from Uruguay (^o^)/
Guillermo
I doesn’t really has anything to do with today’s episode, but man, the MG Polypod Ball is a dream come true
dannlan9
Awesome review on Macross.VF-4

the design for this macros is so simple..
Brian ver. Kanada
I could use a store credit so I can buy more gunpla.
MagicPandaMan
I’ve always been tempted to try a plane model kit, or anything else outside of gunpla. But they always seem more challenging.😓
Anna
While there are harder kit types, there are also a lot of snapfit kits out there that aren’t gunpla, as well as some lines that are prepainted or don’t need paint! Even some of the kits that call for glue aren’t too bad. I like Hasegawa’s Mechatro WeGo line myself, which are on par with gunpla — no glue, and you don’t really need paint but you could always use it to make it look better. Meng’s line of World War Toons tank kits are also pretty fun and a little more challenging (but still easy, level-wise) — they’re technically snapfit, but a little glue helps to keep the really tiny pieces in place.
Vargen
im thinking about adding leds to some kits too.
Leds can be bought at incredibly small scales now. the 1:100 grimgerde would be cool. sadl it doeant use that much clear plastic.
Robo
Nice jet! But the episodes seem to get shorter and shorter…
Please review some World War Toons kits if you get the chance 🙂
Ravenps3
I still have to buy the RG Tallgeese
Duo Waltfeld
Once more into the breech, as I desperately try to win 2,000JPY store credit…
So erm, noticed in the store description for SDBD RX-Zero Maru, it says the figure transforms into a flight form, which is inaccurate, as the RX-Zero Maru does not have a flight form. The bird is actually an additional mobile armour (like the flight pack off the Exia Dark Matter) that can combine with RX-Zero Maru to give it a Real-Mode like the Star Winning Gundam (if you look at the wings, they are literally shin-armour pieces). The way this works could possibly make it the most complicated SD kit we’ve had in a fair while.
…also, I wonder how long it took people to notice that the RX-Zero Maru is in fact a heavily re-tooled SD Gundam Unicorn? It doesn’t look like it, heheh.
MechaArtistCol1815
Hi Guys
If anyone asks me about Gundam I show them Gunpla T.V. (pre episode 270 the standing up infomercial format style) as peoples reactions seem more favourable.
Rarmod
Can’t wait for the MG 00 Qan[T] Full Saber
JumpNShootMan
Fumina has a psycho frame?
Bee
Great show. I wish Bandai Macross kits would have the vent intake feature on their kits.
Kaeede
Hey alright!
macrossjoe
technology’s come a long way in the toy industry.
Mecha-artist-col1815
If someone asks me about Gundam I show them Gunpla TV (pre ep 270 where the standing up infomercial format came in) as peoples reactions seem to more favourable and their opinions more positive when compared to the later style.
ps
Did I miss the Haro build episode or wasn’t it covered?

hellgatex
Shame it does not transform, not a big fan of the base jets from macross
Quantum25
Always appreciate it whenever you guys take a look at a non-bandai kit on the show, would love to see you cover Wave’s Scopedog kits at some point.
