Gunpla TV Special – Trying Our Luck at the 7-Eleven Gundam Lottery

Gunpla TV takes a trip to one of Japan’s renowned convenience stores for a special episode! We’re pulling “Ichiban Kuji” lottery tickets to try to win some awesome Gundam prizes. Stay tuned to see how it goes — and watch until the end to see what you can win, too!

Ichiban Kuji is a lottery system where you can get a whole bunch of unique, limited goods from your favorite anime and more. All you have to do is head to a participating store, buy as many tickets as you like (usually around 600 yen each), and pull off the tabs to see what you’ve won. We recommend giving it a try on your next trip to Japan!

  1. it’s like real world loot boxes with as much I can’t believe it’s not gambling as loot boxes

    • Japan has found itself some clever ways to get people to spend a lot of money without it technically considering it gambling :’)

    • 7-11 in Japan is sweet. All we have in ours is broken slurpee machines and ancient hot dogs.

  3. Didn’t realise the 7-11 kits were this tricky to get! My little 7-11 Pucchiguys seem even cooler now. If one can can call bear toys cool.

Would be cool to see more of these, especially the giveaway component. Someone is going to be very happy with these. Good luck to us all!

  5. Love the look of defeat when you get back to the studio xD But i know the feeling , last time i went to Japan i got about 10 ichiban kuji tickets in some random store, the A prize was a big awesome looking statue from Kamen Rider and…. the best grade i got was a C T.T
Never doing this again if i get to return to Japan hehe

  30. it’s fun to see Gundam in the convenient store. Wish we had that in Canada.

  31. I’m kind happy not all 7 11 have these because I waste so much money trying to get the big prizes with my bad luck

  32. Wow i really like to win this kit. If i live in japan, certainly, i play this until i get the A price haha $$$.

  33. Still more ethical and fair than loot boxes.

  34. Convenience stores in Japan do this every week? Plus you get gunpla from electronics stores. North American shops need to step up.

    Reply
  35. I wish my convenience store would have had such a game. Due to a party, I had for about 88.600 Yen and would have received the whole box with the tickets. But great move from your site to give them away to your followers. Thumbs up!

  36. must be nice to be able to purchase kits from nearby stores

  46. Japan gets all the stuff.

    Reply
  47. Thought gambling was illegal in Japan. I guess adding a prize makes it a raffle and somehow legal?

    Reply
    • From what I understand, cash prizes are where the gambling lines are drawn. On top of that, with Ichiban Kuji you’re always winning something, so it may not be considered gambling at all, really.

      Reply
  48. Didn’t you win some heads?
How come you didn’t show the heads?

    Reply
    • We aren’t giving away any of the heads for this episode so we didn’t think about having them on camera — but you haven’t seen the last of them!

      Reply
  49. Whoa, those 7-11’s would take all my money

  51. Saw these Gundam lottery tickets while in Japan but had no idea how they worked. Next time I’ll buy some for sure.

    Reply
  52. Question: will the winner win ALL of the C, D, E, etc. prizes? Or just one from each? If the latter, it would be neat to give the others away as well… but that would be a whole lot of extra shipping costs, so maybe not so neat for your wallets, hahah!

    Reply
    • One winner for the whole set of prizes 🙂

  53. Ichiban Kuji is just rolling a gacha irl. Now time for me to roll the comments gacha for dat prize!
