Nendoroid More: Robobot Armor & Kirby Unboxing

Nendoroid More: Robobot Armor & Kirby by Good Smile Company – Available From HobbyLink Japan

By Cacophanus from Mecha Damashii

It took a few years, but we finally now have a proper Robobot Armor toy from the excellent 3DS game Kirby: Planet Robobot. This is a bit different from other Nendoroid releases but as a package, it certainly doesn’t disappoint.

Kirby: Planet Robobot was released back in 2016 on the 3DS and is part of the longrunning Kirby series that started with Kirby’s Dream Land back on the Game Boy in 1992. Much like the newer Kirby games, Planet Robobot retained the copy mechanics but also added mecha for the titular Kirby to pilot.

These Robobot Armors came in different varieties with similarly varied abilities but this toy is of the standard mecha that Kirby acquires early on in the game.

If the Robobot Armor looks a bit familiar that’s because it’s very likely inspired by the Lagann from Gurren Lagann. This possible inspiration is something that is heavily emphasized later on in the game as well and is something I talked about when I reviewed the game in 2016.

Kirby is also an important character and series for HAL Laboratory and if you are curious about that, then, by all means, check out my interview with Satoshi Mitsuhara who runs the studio.

In any case, Good Smile Company has done an amazing job here and for someone that loved the game, this toy is very much overdue.

    • Nope! Toy Tengoku covered this toy in video, but one of our great contributors, Cacophanus, has also covered this toy for us in text and pictures, so readers can get a second opinion. 🙂
