Syd and Ryan are back from America and only a couple kilograms heavier! In this episode we talk about some of our experiences at Anime Expo and outside of it in Los Angeles. We then talk about the newest Gundams […]
This Macross kit looks interesting. Cannot wait for Iron Blood orphan season 2.
Can you guys compare the old 1/72 Macross kits in 2010 with this new one?
Really impressed at how the transformation gimmick held up in the Macross kit. I would love to see Bandai release more complicated kits like these to showcase their engineering.
Great episode guys!
Very noticeable you had some time off and had a blast over in the US!!!
Except for that poor Todd, tricking him into building that always up to no good Siegfried 😉
Or should we cal him the Cesar, don’t know why 😀
Maybe a good title for a movie: Planet of the Macros LOL
Love the design of Macross Delta kits. I was looking through HLJ store and noticed that Tomy Tech is producing some Macross Delta kits at 1/144 scale; in particular, there is a set termed as 2 mode set. (http://hlj.com/product/TMT28015/Sci). What does “2 mode set” actually refers to? Robot and plane mode? Or Robot and Gerwalk? OR Gerwalk and Plane mode only?
Welcome back, guys. Of the new kits I may look into the Scramble and Shia Qan[t]. The Barbatos Lupus is most likely for season 2 what the original kit is to season 1, so I’m hoping for the mid-season upgrade to be something in line with the 6th form. If I did get a Lupus I’d also likely get the option kit with the mini-maces and auto-canons.
Good to see you guys made it back safe and sound. Hopefully you’ll come to New Zealand Comicon next year and give the gift of reasonably priced Gunpla 🙂
I hope you guys had a fun time at the Anime Expo! I’ve been waiting patiently for the next episode of Gunpla TV, so it feels so good to see it up. I’ve seen the picture of Syd’s fast food on Facebook so many times that I had to go to McDonalds myself and pick up an Ebi burger, I enjoyed it.
Don’t you mean “Hi-Nu people” Syd?( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I’m really hyped for the Barbatos Lupus, it’s probably my new favorite Barbatos form, he looks even more like a knight in this form, and his red shoulderpads look awesome. The turquoise Graze is my new favorite Graze as well, as the new bulky design is awesome, I love them Ground type feet and I love the color turquoise, so he is going to be greeted with wide arms as well. Type A is obviously an upgraded Rebake. It looks a lot more bulkier, and that’s more fitting for the Gusion, but I sorta preferred the old Rebake more. The Hostile Mobile suit is unique to say the least, I like his head and torso, but the weird design of the limbs and their size turn me off, he reminds me of a hobbit/gnome, which isn’t my cup of tea.
I am HYPED for the new BF OVA and all the kits. I’m definitely getting all of the new releases besides the Beargguy, could never get into that MS. But everything else looks absolutely awesome, and I love all of their designs.
The new Gundam Local Type is something I am highly interested in. I always loved the Gundam Ground Type, and it’s clear that they’re related somehow. I love the visor, and am probably going to get it as well. The 1/100 Kimaris Trooper is cool too, but I think i’m going to get the HG instead. The Petit’gguys are meh, they’re recolors, but I was never a big fan of Beargguys, so that’s something.
I’ve really, really been looking forward to the Siegfried’s review, because I think this may be my first Macross kit. Just by design alone, the Siegfriend Hayate Custom has already become my favorite Macross. Blue has always been my favorite color, and I love the sleek/angular design of the Siegfried. I also always had a knack for transforming things, be it complex and difficult MG transformations, or simple HG partsformations. Since the Macross is even more complex than a transforming MG, I think this will be a nice challenge. The stickers look like a living nightmare though, and is probably what is keeping me from pouncing on the kit, but honestly for a kit that has so many colors and already has a complex build to be able to transform into 3 modes, it’s completely understandable…and Todd…for the antenna…
there’s something called Tamiya thin cement, and a small copper peg. <3
I think this is going to be it when the time comes, i'm getting this as my first Macross kit hands down. It may be a nightmare to transform, have tones of falling parts, and is as fragile as an RG, but hey, all transforming Macross kits are as well, and this guy looks good. I'm definitely going to get an action base for him though, i'd be insane not too. I wonder if I would do a review of it when I get it, as I do Gunpla reviews after being inspired by Syd's Gaijin Gunpla blog, but this guy is going to be a nightmare to learn, take pictures of, and write about. XP
I think I did my Top gear phrase wrong, and i'm going to come clean and say I have no idea what that phrase is about and decided to wing it. But to be honest I don't mind very much, i'll be waiting for your next episode!
You are correct. If you take a look at the model number of the Local type you’ll see its RX-78-01. The RX-78-01 was developed into the RX-78-2 and RX-79 (Ground type), so you could say it’s a prototype of it.
In a way true. But if I remember, the RX-78-2 Gundam was developed from the RX-78-1 Prototype Gundam, so which came first? The RX-78-01? or the RX-78-1
I was very excited about the prospect of getting a Macross kit that transforms, but after seeing how fragile it is I’m now on the fence about getting one.
finally you guys are back!!! everyday i get on i look to see if there’s a new video and today is the day lol, can’t wait to see all the new things you guys will be bringing out after the expo!
Nice new Macross kits but since I paint them I’ll wait for future Hasegawa releases. Bandai Macross kits aren’t really meant to be painted since you’ll get lots of scratches and paint coming off when you transform them from one mode to another, true experience.
I see that many many of the new HG kits come with peg style hands now instead of proper trigger fingers. Do the 1/144 builders parts hands fit all the IBO and new HG kits? does the hand armor snap into them properly? Can you guys test them out? I’m interested in buying some since it looks like the hyaku shiki revive won’t have trigger finger hands
After reading this comment, I managed to dig up that part. Are you planning to get the EFSF or the Zeon 1/144 builders parts hands? I have only got EFSF version; therefore, I can only comment on that one.
Overall, the hands work for your HG. On the runner, you are given two different ball joint options. The larger one fits most recent HG kits i.e. Unicorn Gundam, GM II, etc while, the smaller ball joint is better for HG revive series and IBO i.e. Wing Gundam and Gundam Barbatos. Not using the given hand armor from this kit gives have various results. You will have to modify the armor part slightly to get it to fit.
Welcome back as it has been too long. In regards to the new Barbatos, the design is great and perhaps the name Lupus is foreshadowing some events of season 2. Lupus is a chronic inflammatory disease that occurs when your body’s immune system attacks your own tissues and organs, so maybe Tekkadan will fight their own comrades from the last season. Who knows, but it will make an interesting plot. Lastly, I can see someone custom building that new Bearguy into a Sailor Moon or the other Sailor Scouts.
The fact that you decided to give away a third kit is just another example of why i keep coming back this channel/website because of my love for gunpla. You guys are the best, supplying us with information on the new gunpla to giveaways. Thanks!
I really like the Macross kit. Its so cool that it “Blue” me away XD Honestly this is just “Plane” awesome! Anyways, good job guys; keep up the good work ^_^
I ve built few of this kits. to be truth its not an easy kit. The instruction quite hard and the transformation is very difficult especially the full armor messiah because of all the armament. But its an injection kit. Its not suppose to be play but to display with proud. End result Bandai realy did a good job with macross kits but perhaps they would make the transformation a bit easier.
It was great seeing you guys at the Anime expo. I am still sad I missed out on buying that shadow fox from zoids. Unfortunately it is backordered right now but when it is available I will buy one.
I am now a fan of this channel. Looking forward to the next video and have a great week.
Thanks for this episode guys! My brother (who builds Macross kits) will probably start building his Siegfried kit soon after he watches this episode. Considering that the Macross kit does not come with an action base, can I give him one of my spare Gunpla action base 2 or does it have to be a Macross specific display stand? The one Todd used looked similar to the action base 2 but I don’t recall seeing that adapter. Thanks again all at HLJ!
I have seen other modellers handle it much better in youtube, whatching this make me feel afraid of the one I have in my private warehouse. this does not look enjoyable at all.
We’ve crammed a lot of stuff into the episode prior to our departure for LA’s Anime Expo 2016. We show some cool Star Wars stuff, show the latest HG kits, and even do a live double build of the new Figure-rise […]
“i was made for gunpla baby” 😉 love the artfx but its a bit to spendy for me but i cant wait to see the footage from the expo they are always my favorite episodes to watch
A friendly reminder to the almighty random number generator. I’ve got a pending order with HLJ. What about adding a guncannon or barbatos and save on shipping 🙂
hmm… i don’t think i like the way they did the Force Impulse’s shield transformation… i’d feel like i’ll break it lol anyway, great to see one more episode before you guys head out to anime expo and we’ll be here waiting, possibly having withdrawal symptoms from the long break from Gunpla TV.
meanwhile, we’ll hand over the show to our tame gunpla builder:
Some say he can use the beads of sweat dripping from his forehead when building gunpla as plastic cement. And that he can make a life-size version of any scale model kits just by staring at one for 123 days non-stop while sipping coffee from his Gundam Front Tokyo mug and listening to Poker Face, the first of which we know as the 1:1 statue in Odaiba. All we know is, he’s called The Todd!
some say he was born when a molding kit got struck by lighting .
other say he was bit by a radioactive nipper
one thing is for sure that he is named …. the TOD .
…
Barbatos for the win 😀
It would be great to win those guncannons or barbatos , just like the HG buster gundams :P, I can’t wait to start my PG unicorn any tips and advice when i’m building the unicorns? always a great show ryan, syd and todd keep up the good work 🙂
I’m writing this before Anime Expo but you’ll be reading this after. I’m looking forward to seeing you guys again. Here’s hoping I didn’t make an ass of myself.
It amazes me how many ‘some say…’ comments Todd is getting now. But how does the man himself feel about them? I can imagine him saying “I’m just a guy who loves gunpla and cuts the pieces off the sprue one at a time, just like all of you.”
I just raffled off coupons for a Gundam Revive and an HG Barbatos at my Toastmasters club. Guys, it would be awesome if you and the RNG would see fit to send a Barbatos my way — then again, it’s already assembled, isn’t it?
Reading up on the 72 demons the gundam from IBO are named for, I’m amazed how many of them are described as being helpful and teach the summoner stuff. Barbatos, Gusion, and Kimaris are all pretty powerful. Still can’t get a handle on Astaroth though.
Some say he builds a Gyan as soon as he wakes up, others say that he builds a bazooka every night before he goes to bed. All we know is he’s called the Todd!
I’ve been loving gundam since I was a kid, and would love to win barbatos even though it’s unlikely. Don’t have many gunpla due to where I live in ireland, but would love anything regardless
Some say he can build gunpla blindfolded with his hands tied behind his back, and that he built his first kit years before he was born. All we know is, he’s called The Todd!
FA unicorn look sick but unfortunately don’t have the money to purchase such kit but thanks to you guys i’m able to see such kit being build and it really have some kind of good feeling inside kudos to you guys//…….please givev me some kitsss LET ME WIN
Okay Gundam, where did Ryan touch you? *Gundam points to rear thruster nozzle* *all in attendance gasp in horror*
Some people say he was found as a young boy and raised by Meijin Kawaguchi,
others say his collection of Gunpla will one day amass and take over HLJ. All we know for sure is he is called The Todd.
Dear HLJ,
Thank you for the always awesome reviews. I recently walked into a video game shop that sells Gunpla and they were selling the Standard Graze and the Graze Ein for the same price and the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam [Destroy Mode] + Head Display Base. I couldn’t make up my mind, but I started to hear Syd whispering, “Ein! Ein! Ein!” into my ear and I just had to buy the Ein. Thank you so much for helping me with my decision and I hope to see more reviews in the future!
GunplaTV is here again and back with more stuff! So let me get absorbed in another great episode once again! :3
The Kotobukiya Star Wars figures look really awesome! They aren’t kits, but they are still really good looking and would look really nice on a shelf! I love the minor weathering on the Astromechs, they add quite nice realism to the figures. My favourite part of the set though, has to be C-3P0’s slightly dulled, yet gloriously shiny gold finish. It reminds me of the Hyaku Shiki, and looks really good on C-3P0 as well. Kylo Ren looks quite cool too, although he will never be a true replacement for Darth Vader, I honestly find his character more like a whiny kid than a menacing, intimidating leader like I thought he would be. The new macross kit definitely peaks my interest, I like it’s sleek, sharp design and the blue is awesome! But well…blue is my favourite color, so that’s a factor. If only they were to scale with Gundam…that decal sheet is really scary though, clear stickers for me! This kit itself may actually convince me to watch the anime as well. I’m actually curious why Ryan would know such a personal fact of Todd…Ryan? Explaination please?
I love Todd’s serious face that he was doing before you notified him that they were up, he just looks so nervous, but at the same time he looked so intimidating. XD
The Figur-rise busts are interesting, and the engineering used to create them is indeed impressive. However, I just don’t see me paying the price of an HG for one, and the original concept doesn’t really interest me all that much, the Chara Stand plates is what I personally prefer, although the regular old-fashioned action base is what I like the most due to it being the most practical, simple and effective. I still hope we get Chara Stand plates for characters outside of IBO though, a Char plate would be awesome! On screen builds are cool though, so i’m glad you did one with these, and with Todd as well! 😀
I don’t see a reason why we shouldn’t weather the busts. We should give them a gunk wash, panel lines, extra decals and a matte coat while we’re at it! o/
The FA Unicorn would be a cool thing to get with the RG Sinanju, as I stick to my previous theory that this release was Bandai trying to make up for not being able to make an RG Unicorn, hence a repeated release with more weapons, a different psychoframe color, and RG style decals. Not complaining though, more Gunpla is always good, but when will Bandai make an HG Shokew is my true question. Todd shouldn’t be complaining though, Fully Armored MS and bazookas means more weapons, more weapons means more building, and more building means more fun with Gunpla! Hooray!
Wait, Todd shares my theory as well?! We are long lost brothers Todd-senpai. (ಠ_ಠ)
The HGCE Force Impulse is definitely the release I was really waiting for. I’m currently saving up for the P-Bandai Blast Impulse. I love the Impulse Gundam very much, and the fact that i’m such a fan of Lunamaria (not as much for Shinn, but he’s cool too) just adds to the Impulse’s appeal to me. The splitting gimmick is some really nice, yet simple engineering, so kudos to Bandai there, but the unpainted core splendor and force silhouette cockpit look quite bad though, and definitely needs some work. The fact that Bandai advertises the painted product is a peeve of mine as well, so you’re not alone there. It seems like Bandai has only been giving us a single pair of hands, on recent HG’s. I assume the reason is to save plastic, and therefore costs, but open hands are a useful option to have, so I hope Bandai wakes up on that. The fact that the kit balances well, even with the Force Silhouette pack is really cool though! That’s definitely going to help with the action poses.
My friend gave me an HGUC ReZEL which is currently watching Gunpla TV while cheering you guys on right next to me on my desk, and an HG00 00 Gundam Seven Swords/G for my birthday. I knew there was something suspicious when he wanted to use my HLJ account for the 5% coupon I had. He had also bought a HG 1/100 Heavyarms Kai EW, but sadly, it hasn’t been in stock yet. I also picked up a Revoltech Vox Aura while the kits were in the private warehouse as it was insanely cheap. It’s a good figure to anyone who is reading, it may have some paint inconsistencies, but it’s a small figure, so they aren’t terribly noticable. It articulates extremely well too, and has a really sleek and curvy design, I highly recommend the figure to any mecha fan, and I also highly recommend the Anime for anyone that’s interested. I’m about halfway through it, and i’m quite enjoying it so far! 😀
You’re telling me to do one for Todd, but i’m going to come up with one for all 3 of you just because I can. Who knows? Maybe my 3 senpai’s will notice me.
For Syd:
Some say he’s a lightning fast builder, and that he can build kits even in the wild, with nothing but his teeth and hands. All we know, is that he’s got a lucky job and should enjoy it as much as possible.
For Ryan:
Some say he’s a macross purist, others say that he needs his kits to be big, fun with tones of gimmicks for extra enjoyment. All we know, is that he shouldn’t paint on the runner. Ever again.
For Todd:
Some say he brings his modelling tools wherever he roams, and that he always cleans nubmarks on his kit. All we know, is that he always has a convenient lightsaber in arms-length reach, in case he needs to duel Syd anytime at the warehouse.
Show me the Guns, you dismal knight!!!!!
Some say he has a foot fetish for flats than heels.Others, say he’s just attracted to big guns. One thing is certain, his name is Todd.
Sid, Ryan, Todd and the rest; thankyou so much for bringing so many great Gundpla TV videos to Youtube and also opening myself up to other kits I wasn’t aware of (like Star Wars and Macross). I would definitely buy off you IF ONLY you had a store in the UK as tarrifs are quite high when it comes to paying shipping… However! That doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy your videos, I like them alot! Sometimes I even find quite a few laughs out of you guys 🙂 not to mention how awesome you guys are for going to the trouble to go to events like Gundam Expo to document the experience for people like myself who cannot afford to go to conventions like those.
Some say he is actual the prototype for the next grade of Bandai kits and his joints are nothing more than wobbly polycaps…all we know is that he is called The Todd.
HGUC Dom/Rick Dom kit is still a great kit. It stands great even next to the Orgin Proto Dom. But the rest of the Dom kits (Troopen, Rick Dom II and so on ) definitely would need a revive treatment.
Some say he recites all 43 eps of MS Gundam in his sleep each night, and that he`s able to use his nippers to eat…soup. All we know is, he`s called The Todd.
Guncannon is the only MS of the V project that I don’t have! It’s strange because I like it a lot. But with all these new awesome ms the old ones are often the “second choice”.
I feel I will win this time because I love Guncannon (and Barbatos was very good too)!
Some say that he has a vast amount of knowledge on all Gundam series, and that he is planning to overthrow Syd’s role in Gunpla TV. All we know is, he’s called The Todd.
Some say he eats Ramen noodles with a set of nippers and a hobby knife. Some say he cuts parts off the runner so well he doesn’t need to clean the nubs- even on plated kits. Some say he took down more that 209 zeon pilots during the one year war. All we know is his name is Todd.
Some say he perfected his art of model building after years of intense training under the Grand Master of Gunpla, Katsumi Kawaguchi. Other knows him as the new guy on HobbyLink TV. Master of the nippers and encyclopedia of Gundam lore. All we know is, he’s called Todd.
Another great video guys, love those busts.
Some say he is an android that was built and programmed to slowly put Syd out of a job,and some say is is the love child of Master Kawaguchi and a Beargguy, all we know is he’s called the Todd.2000.
Great to see the unboxing of that VF31J I just ordered one from you guys, its my first adventure outside of gunpla hopefully my experience from building the PG unicorn and MG phenex help me not break it.
Awesome episode as always – I’m currently saving up to grab that gorgeous Victory Gundam Ver Ka and a HG Danazine from you guys… Not exactly a favourite design for a lot of people, but I think that a green, futuristic mecha dragon is too good to pass up.
Some say he can cut off plastic with 0 nub marks while using the wrong ends of his nippers, others say he built the 1:1 Scale Gundam in a day and called it a ‘scratch build’. All we know is he’s called ‘The Todd’.
Some say that He is a fugitive for manslaughter a man for leaving a nub mark ,and that He banned from flying planes by FAA due to his high plastic blood levels … All we know he’s called the TODD
Great show guys. I have the Kotobukia Nightwing and Robin they also have the magnetic bases and i thought it was amazing, good to see they still have it. I bought a barbatos 6th form realized he only had the wrench mace thingy so i got the first Barbatos as well, now if i win he’ll have 2 maces mwahaha. Random Number Generator you have failed me for the last time.
I love seed/destiny… I’m sad that the blast impulse is p-bandai but I pre-ordered it anyway because its from seed/destiny… the con of it being p-bandai is sometimes I like buying multiples of the same kit… but p-bandai kits are a little bit expensive and limited release which make me sadder.
Some say he has an gang of Gyans he built himself that he has dubbed “The Gyang”. Others say he fought Darth Sid in a parking lot, an event that was ignored by two women who were present at the time, and didn’t get a copyright claim from Disney. All we do know is that he is called ‘Todd’.
Hoping that a Sword Impulse will be on the way soon. Been wanting the MG but there are so many nice MG’s at the same price range that I want more. The hg Impulse looks really good so hoping Sword will come out and be just as nice.
That’s a great episode! Have a safe trip guys! and enjoy! Don’t forget to share us all what happened in the Anime Expo. Can’t wait for that episode to be up!
Maybe one of these days you guys could come to Florida? We have conventions here too! The Gunpla sellers at my local cons are always way overpriced (most of the kits were $13-$40 above HLJ’s prices) and not very fun to talk to, so I think Florida cons could use more people like you!
Some say that he was born in California, North America and that he learnt how to use a pair of nippers and sanding sticks before he can use a knife and fork, and that his first word was Gunpla. Others say that he was made as a 1:1 P-Bandai exclusive in Shizuoka, Japan and that his inner frame is comparable to that of the Astray Red Frame. All we know is that he is called the Todd.
Some say he builds only Gundam kits at home. Others say he packs only Gundam kits to ship to customers at work. All we know for sure that he is called “The Todd”.
Long time no see/comment.
If you recall, I came by and visited you guys at the HLJ HQ three years ago.
A lot has happened to me since then and I fell off the Gunpla TV wagon for a couple years. I just finished going back to watch all the episodes I missed from late 2014 up to the present episode. I’m kicking myself for missing out on all those chances at the cool giveaways you had.
Anyway, I’m back into gunpla and kit build now in a big way thanks to you guys. I dugout some 90’s no grade models kits that have been in my closet for YEARS and started putting them together. Even an old Patlabor Helldiver kit. Then I bought a bunch of RG kits from a local store that was having a hugh sale. RX-78-2, Zaku II, Char’s Zaku II, Zeta Gundam, and RG RX-178 Gundam Mk-II Titans & AEUG. Plus, two MEGA SIZE kits, RX-78-2 and Char’s Zaku II.
BUT, even better! I also made my VERY FIRST purchase from HLJ.com when I pre-ordered the RG MSN-06S Sinanju!
I would have loved to have come seen you guys at comic con, but that is not possible since I am saving up for my visit to Japan in November. I’d like to come by and see you guys again and this time buy some kits while I am there. 🙂
Keep up the great work guys!
Oh, and Tod also.
Some say he’s the love child of Amuro and Sayla. All we know is that he’s the Stod.
We’re back with more Plamo for you! Todd shows off a Thunderbolt HG kit for the second week in a row and Syd talks about the new Graze Kai from Iron-Blooded Orphans, and what it can do.
“Some say he built his first kit when he was still in the womb, others say he once built a PG, cutting with only a butter knife. All we know is; he’s called The Todd.”
Hey guys, great episode as usual! I was wondering what you are expecting regarding the MG Psycho Zaku. Do you think it will come with a stand for the massive backpack and/or gold plated thrusters? Personally I’m really excited to see what Bandai does as it’s a kit high up on my wishlist.
I must admit that I don’t like the Amazing Red Warrior at all! Not even in the anime. If I win it I will change everything of it! The Hyakushiki instead is a piece of art.
I would already leave a comment anyway but MG Hyaku Shiki? I want it so bad lol. Great episode as usual guys. Looking forward to seeing the new Full Armor HG Unicorn built for 209. Let’s see if Tod gets all those decals on. Also excited for the Force Impulse to go with my HG Freedom. Keep up the Super work guys.
I have to admit, I do dislike HLJ right now for starting the sale right after I got a lot of kits, which are now stuck in backlog hell, and then rubbing salt in my wounds by absolutely forcing me to get a couple more and a Beyblade.
That being said, random number generator pls gib robit.
Awesome episode, the Hyaku Shiki 2.0 and Amazing Red Warrior Master Grades are gorgeous! Can’t wait for the Full Armor Gundam Ver Ka to come out, but very scared for what’s going to happen to my wallet after all these sales and then that monster’s release. H Y P E
Can I just please have both!!! Oh man I’ve been eyeing both the amazing red and the 2.0 I’ll be happy with either or but I’m leaning more toward the hyakushiki!
Got some Mechatro We Go on that sale. There were D-styles that I wanted but got wiped out before I got an order in. Also I don’t know what sort of deals you have with Bandai with those promotional posters but do they forbid you from giving them away?
Sweet, 1/100 graze kai looks bad ass , specifically with that giant sword and bazooka! Looking foward to that hyaku shiki, you cant go wrong with da gold!
Random Number Generator gods! Here my plea! Let me win! (also props for Ryan,Syd,& Todd for another AMAZING show. Gunpla is freedom, worth greater than GOLD)
Man, I wish I could meet you guys. Working at a company like HLJ is my dream, my family used to own a hobby store and it was the best. Syd got me back into gunpla after so many years, so glad I found your channel :3
Wow. This episode came fast. Not complaining though! As more Gunpla TV is more nice-feeling goodness in my life. I’m also excited for the new HGCE Force Impulse Gundam (Can we call it a Revive?). Although i’m not going to jump on it yet, as i’m saving up for the P-Bandai Blast Impulse variant. The new Full Armor Unicorn Destroy Mode Red Psychoframe would be a lot more interesting if I didn’t already have the Unicorn Destroy mode, and if there wasn’t another version of it with green psychoframe. Although the stickers are cool and the beam javelin is also a sweet looking weapon. I assume this is sort of the “replacement” for the non-existent “RG Unicorn” as either Bandai didn’t see it profiting enough, or the kit was simply too hard to engineer with the transforming psychoframe. So they went with the RG Sinanju and released this kit for a counterpart. Why else would they give the RG-like clear decals?
The HG Zaku I TB Anime colors is definitely something i’m getting. I didn’t like the sand colors of the original release, but change that to orange with yellow and i’m sold. Since Syd really likes this kit, i’m sure i’ll like it too. I’m also getting the Graze Kai, and i’m not making a Graze Kai, nor the Graze Ground type. I’m thinking of combining them to make a Graze Kai Ground type, just to differentiate it more from the 1/100 Graze. I’m excited for that guy as well! ^_^
I already built the MG Amazing Red Warrior, and have the MG Hyaku Shiki 2.0 in my backlog, so I actually don’t want to win this giveaway, so that other people can experience the joy of having these kits as well. If I got them, sure I would paint them to differentiate, but I want everyone to know how great the red warrior is. The MG Amazing Red Warrior, will always hold a special place in my heart for being my first MG kit. Speaking of backlogs, I had just received HG00 00 Gundam Seven Swords/G, my HGUC ReZEL and my Revoltech Vox Aura from you guys! I already unboxed the Vox, and it looks awesome on my shelf! I’ve just binged built an MG Turn A Gundam and HGEW Serpent Custom, so i’m a small bit burnt out. I’ll probably finish my HGUC ReZEL by tomorrow though! >:)
I just got the Transient and the MG Gundam the Origin through the SUPER SUMMER SALE. It seems appropriate that the two MGs you’re giving away are red and gold, since I’m planning on giving the Transient an Iron Man Mk-51 makeover when I build it. Even though they’re Lannister colours and Tony’s a Stark.
I like the gimmicks on the Amazing Red Warrior, but I think I’d have to go with the gold of the Hyakku-Shiki, simply because I’ll already have an RX-78 represented with the Origin kit.
Then again, I see a lot of people going with the gold. Would going red increase my chances of winning?
Another great episode as always. Really looking forward to getting that Renewal Impulse. And I love how simplistic and bad ass the Amazing Red Warrior looks. See you guys next time.
Just joined the community. Been watching your YouTube for some time now. Always, an awesome video. Keep up the good work. Be great to win one of those giveaways.
It might be the holidays that contributes to the low amount of comments. I’m away the entire June myself, and with this iffy internet I missed the previous episode during the release, had to watch this one in 360p sob…
Gunpla is Freedom.. I totaly agree. After a 4month build of a real car (kit), where all has to be perfect, it is so relaxing just to sit down and disasseble a snapfit SciFi kit and give it a nice easy finish with just washes, drybrush and a few Highlights.
Ryan this will buy you bunch of comments!
Also, love the show and I was lucky enough to pick up hyaku shiki 2.0 as it was gone with in couple day I think.
Thanks for all the work you guys put in and also the summer sale!
cant wait to see the full armor unicorn, i have the Banshee Norn destroy mode and its prolly my favorite HG i have built. also whoever wins the red warrior and hyaku shiki will love them, i have both and they are proudly displayed as focal points of my collection
It’s always exciting to see models molded in different colors. I have always enjoyed airbrushing grey over gray… I kinda want to paint a Gundam in an Aggressor paint scheme.
Great show as always. I agree with Todd, the stickers for the Zaku 1 on the shoulders are pretty terrible. They are difficult to make smooth and look nice. I have the manga version and I was hoping Bandai would add a colored piece, alas, they did not. Keep up the good work and enjoy the Expo!
Hyaku Shiki! This hand of mine glows with an awesome power! Its burning grip TELLS ME TO ACQUIRE YOU! TAKE THIS! My love, my anger, and ALL MY SORROW! SHINING FINGER CARESS! GO! GO! GO!
Great show as always guys 🙂
The Hyaku Shiki i can take 😀 Red Warrior is not one i would want, but when you giving it away, sur i can take it to 😛 Don’t really get why bandai made the Red warrior in MG?? it’s only in 1ep in the serie, there was a ton off good Gundam’s in the serie and they could have made instead.
Just started building 144 HG kits and I am hooked, don’t know if I should just start collecting every HG throughout each series or just the ones that I like or branch out to RG, MG or some PGs which I would love to get. There is so many to choose from lol.
TWO questions, ONE: where are the Initial D kits at? Are they any good?
TWO: Are there any standalone MG sized versions of the MS Cage featured in the Unicorn kit?
Great episode like always
Wrote you guys a poem:
Amazing red warrior is red
Hyakushiki is gold
I need one of these kits in my life
before I get too old.
I have to say that the HG Zaku I is looking pretty cool. I especially like the colors used for this. Really look forward to the sales you guys have. That’s when I get my Hobby Japan Magazine fix! Thanks for that. Well, with that said, let’s see how my luck is this time around to win one of those awesome Gundams!
Hey guys been a while trying to get back into gunpla hard a hard year emotional devistation. Feel better building the walking liger right now have a huge back log. Looking forward to seeing you at day 2 saturday of anime expo and hope to build gunpla with you there had a blast last year. Keep up the great work and cant wait for my rg sinanju
Great episode as always. Just got to finally watch the entire series of 00 Gundam. Loved it until the end wished they did a third season instead of a movie. More mg kits from 00 Gundam hopefully.
great show guys!!! can’t wait to get my super super super sale on and get some great deals on gunpla!!!!! keep up the good work and thank you everyone at HLJ love buying from you guys and always have a great time ordering for your team!!!
How much did you guys end up spending during the sale? What items did you buy besides Gundams? All $300 of my purchase was on gundams. My shipping though is going to be $200. Ouch my wallet. Did I even save some money I wonder? I’m too lazy to compare prices on Amazon
Great episode and is there any news on a 1/100 graze ein? Bryan how are the twins doing and adapting to your new role as a father going now that it has been a few weeks?
I always wanted to win something gold and shiny, and that Hyaku Shiki is the Gunpla Oscar…if i win i want to thank Syd and Ryan, gunplatv, hobbylinkjapan, family, pets, and a very special thank you to myself for having decided to comment lol… thank you … thank you
Great ep as always gents. I am looking forward to more MG releases for the Thunderbolt line. In fact I would love see that Zaku I in MG form. Also that Graze Kai looks great definitely need to get my hands on one. Keep it up guys.
I recently built and painted the Hyaku Shiki 1.0 and I don’t mind to get the 2.0..
But the Amazing Red Warrior looks so cool! If I win it I’ll detail all those pistons in Alclad II chrome.
Oh i wish, i could get an Amazing Red Warrior (hint hint Wish granters) Great show as always.Just built an RG Strike, and am going to build the RG 00 Raiser super excited, you guys got me into Gunpla so thank you really.
Well you were certainly right about the Hyaku-Shiki bringing in the comments! I’ll cast my line out as well!
That gold is nice, but I’d like to strip it and try some other colors!
I’m looking forward to the MG Thunderbolt gundam. It looks great, and i like that coloring it has. I recently finished building the Origins Zaku II with the Giant axe and I’m impressed with how sturdy it feels compared to other HG and the frame that it has. My next build at the moment is the Endless waltz Sandrock MG, which looks great.
I got to be honest, that Graze Kai never interested me until now, it looks pretty fine now. Also, that Force Impulse may be the next build I will buy but then I remember that Bandai has the Blast Impulse, which I like a lot more… As P-Bandai… I will just continue building my RG Qan[T] in the meantime.
Awesome episode! Wish you guys could come to a Canadian Anime convention like Anime North or Otakuthon. I’m sure there’s tons of Canadian fans who would love to meet you (myself included). Hope I win one of the MGs 😀
I ended up missing the Summer Sale for the Hyaku-Shiki :(, so hopefully I’m lucky enough to win either of the prizes. Really excited to see you guys in person in a few weeks at AX!
Those are some nice kits looking for a new owner ^^.
Also a question to Todd. We know Syd has his own blog so do you have one? Since you do more than just snap the kits it would be interesting to see your works.
Awesome episode as always. Id love to get both kits, but specially that slick hyaku shiki. On a side note, do you guys think a 1/100 cartas custom graze will be released? I personally like those colors, and would much prefer it over a pink ryusei go. Keep up the good work!
I’m sure I’m late to comment, but having a hyaku shiki 2.0 would definitely be sweet, though I’m still getting the revive when it comes out. My last MG is from 2001 so it’d be neat seeing how far they’ve improved
Dear HLJ,
Thank you for the always awesome reviews. I love me some grunt kits! I recently walked into a video game shop that sells Gunpla and they were selling the Standard Graze and the Graze Ein for the same price. I was thinking about the great reviews the Standard Graze got, but I heard Syd whispering, “Ein! Ein! Ein!” into my ear and I just had to buy the Ein. Thank you so much for helping me with my decision and I hope to see more reviews in the future.
Syd and Todd come packing the heat in this episode. Well, Todd does. Syd tries to heat it up but can’t decide how to do it. We also talk about all the new kits that are coming in August.
Ryan, Todd, and Syd all have something they are excited to show on this episode of Gunpla TV. We also talk about the newest RG which is available for preorder now as well as our plans for Anime Expo! We also […]
The Valuable Pod is just here sitting unopened waiting for the revive Gyan. AND THE SHOULDER PADS WON’T EVEN FIT. The hell are you now Gyan? Too cool for late 80’s-early 90’s fashion?
long post… I was wondering how common the error that Kakarot197 had with his Gyan sholders.. since where wasn’t any mention of it…. it wasn’t common.. great display of all the 1/144s!
Both the RG Quant and Sinanju looks great! too bad they are just a little too small for my eyes. =(
I finally got all my spring sale and Freedom 2.0 haul in and now a Summer sale!!! Curse you guys!!!! looks like I will have some stuff in my PWH to be shipped with my Full Armor TB.
Ohhhhh yeah… Top Gear 3.0 . Sure it’s not as great at Clarkston/May/Hammon.. but if you go back and watch any of the first 2 seasons from the last series…. its was pretty meh too..
lets just home they pull it together sooner than later…
Hi guys,
Thanks again for putting up a great show.
Wow, what a wonderful letter. Me too started 35 yrs ago. My first gunpla was the 1/144 RGM-79 GM (Could get the RX-78-2 back then because it was so popular and sold out in seconds..LOL). After 30+ years, a my buddy re-introduced me back to gunpla. I was hooked. 2013 was my first time purchase gunpla from you guys. 90% of my gunpla also comes from you, so THANK YOU for providing the service and products to me. One of the online model group trying to do a Bandai Group build, starting Jun 1, 2016 to Dec 31, 2016. I’ve a list of my favorites including the RG Sinanju to build. By any chance I may posted them up in you site that would be great.
Thank you again.
Loving Gunpla TV as usual, just can’t get behind the new theme intro tho. Sounds like something from the Speed Channel from 10 yrs ago. Here’s to winning anything cause you lucky bastards are obviously used to winning!
Freedom! This episode got me remembering the time when I discovered hlj. Hlj taught me the differences between gunpla grades. Hlj looked like a sketchy site back then. I think it was when I was 9 yrs old and I’m 19 now haha
Pretty punny title I see. Really looking good forward to the rg sinanju after building my hguc sinanju. I can see why the small parts of the quant can be finiky.
Great episode guys, love the look of the sinanju RG having some new gimmicks. However I believe that the RG line is getting watered down a bit. Compare the newer ones to the first few kits like the RX-78-2, MkII, Zeta and GP01s which had a lot more armor separation and required much heavier panel lining.
Love the fact how Todd prepared for this episode. I wish he would do it whenever its possible from now on. Also about the new Gyan head. True the visor looks better but the head spike is way worse (yeah i know safety reasons…. bla bla bla). And about old kits. Not all of them are bad. I strongly recommend Todd and everyone else building Z-Type Zaku (http://hlj.com/product/BAN01348/Gun). I think thats the best old kit (by old i mean from the 80’s) – I’m building and modifying it now and im having a blast.
I refuse to watch the new Top Gear, I’m just rewatching all the old episodes. I need to get an Amazon Prime membership to watch Top Gear’s true successor 😀
Looks like there’s plenty going on with the RG Sinanju to make up for the lack of armor color separation. I can’t wait to see what it looks like with all the RG stickers applied.
This weeks show was Gyantastic folks. Currently working on the MG Sinanju at Syd’s recommendation and Im super impressed. Thanks for the awesome recommendation.
Syd, it sounded like you were having some mic trouble while talking about the Qan[t]. I’m thinking of getting it for one of my nephews as an introduction to the RG line. Would you recommend it?
SUPER SUMMER SALE! SUPER SUMMER SALE! SUPER SUMMER SALE!
I’ve been waiting and checking the channel every week in anticipation for this episode to come! And right into the action I have to say that the Shield Liger looks absolutely beast. I love how the parts just work in tandem to make it look realistic while it’s walking! But this week what i’ve really been waiting for were the Gundam reviews, because I am literally on the edge for both the RG 00 Qan[T] and the HGUC Gyan Revive. Right off the bat I was both surprised and pleased of the Gyan party. My initial thoughts were “Holy crap all these puns…” but my later thoughts included things like “Typical Revive articulation? That was a needed update!” It’s a bit disappointing that the Valuable pod doesn’t work with it, oh well, I guess I’ll just get the regular HGUC Gyan if I wanted a Gyan Vulcan, and I can’t help but think that that was Bandai’s plan all along, so they could continue selling the old Gyan kits. Still, it’s earned a place on my wishlist. For the RG Qan[T] though, i’m still a bit on the fence. I want to get it to have the Exia, 00 Raiser & Qan[T] because Setsuna is awesome. But the kit just doesn’t really scream to me to buy it. (Syd, do you think I should also get the HG Virtue, Kyrios and Dynames because Gundam 00?) But I do like how it looks with the bits on the shield, I dunno…
But holy crap does that guy have a lot of Gunpla! My dream is to be able own that many kits and more when I grow up! It’s a big dream, but one that I want to follow. Gunpla is love, Gunpla is life!
First time commenting on the Hobby Link TV site. Syd, Will there be a live build of the RG Sinanju? and Ryan, saw the first episode of the new Top Gear and vowed never to watch again. It was awful.
Just finished building and painting my Crossbone Gundam Ver Ka. and was deciding what to get next. Now I have 3 hard choices, 00 Quan[t], MG God Gundam or save up a bit and finally get MG Deathscythe Custom to go with my Wing Custom. Really hoping they finally put out an MG Heavyarms Custom at some point. I’m assuming it hasn’t because of weight issues with the double Gatling Guns.
Zoids, I still have a few of these from my primary / elementary school years. A few of the wind up ones and one motorized (the transport snail).
ExtravanGYANza should have included the news of the upcoming HGBF Gyan kit. Speaking of new kits, so excited about the RG Sinanju. Was about to order the MG. But when saw your show coverage, I knew I wanted the RG instead.
As for Top Gear, I dunno. It just feels weird without those three.
Another great episode guys and keep up the awesome work. I am so stoke that RG Sinanju will be released just in time for my B-Day. In addition, I saw at the Expo pics that there was a small plaque with a P-Bandai release of kit; do you guys have any speculations on what it will be?
As for Top Gear, I saw a bit of the new show and it doesn’t have the same spark. The two host, Chris Evans (not Captain America) and Matt LeBlanc, feels like they are reading straight from a script and as a result the chemistry is flat. It almost seemed forced and and for sure more tamed from before. Perhaps they need a third cast member to change up the dynamics, but mind you it is too early to speculate.
This episode was GYANtastic! Great episode as always guys. I am in love with that shield liger. I may need to cave in and get one myself. I actually had a few month break from doing anything with plamo, and now I have about 11 kits in my backlog. Including the new MG Victory Two Ver Ka. Can’t wait to start this. Your video on it got me hyped. Anyway, thanks for keeping me entertained with each new episode!
No color separation for the RG sinanju???????? those are sad news for me, You broke my heart, that was the RG kit that I was waiting for,and I love the color separation on the rg kits, but with no color separation, for me it’s nothing but a glorified HG… I’m really, really sad of learning that, I guess I’ll cancel my preorder…
i’m in the minority who doesn’t care much for the Sinanju… i’d rather have the Sinanju Stein. something about all those pointy things at the edges. it’s not the same vibe as the spikes on a lot of zeon suits. that’s just me tho. i wish the Stein had a monoeye though… too expensive to buy the red Sinanju just for the head lol
Great episode as always, the 00 Quan-bracket T bracket looks pretty amazing; it’s been ages since I watched 00 and it’s always a little hit of nostalgia whenever these RG’s come out since they’re usually from older series. And you can tell that Bandai spent that time engineering an amazing kit every time.
Oh Top Gear 🙁 Apart from Gundam, cars are huge in my life sure check out my profile pic to see what a sensible (not) 24yr old car fanatic buys for his second car.
The show made me cringe the whole way through watching it, Chris Evans really annoyed me, He doesn’t know squat about cars which you can tell by what he says about the cars he is reviewing and his shouting. Matt leBlanc just seemed way too stiff and felt like he was only there for the pay cheque. I know old Top Gear was scripted but at least they made it feel that it wasn’t. The funny thing is the could make the show 10 times better by replacing Chris Evans with Chris Harris who is doing a Top Gear spin off after the main show. Harris is a youtuber, that guy knows his cars and he can drive!
***P.S. I don’t comment on episodes where the kit being given away is one I wouldn’t want because someone else may be dying for it so should this comment win please give the kit to someone else, I came here for the Top Gear rant :)***
Dear syd, ryan and todd.. Thank you for making gunpla tv happen. I Enjoy every episode and has been a fan for a long time. I just wish you can also come to our country for expos or anime events. Wish i could meet you all. Keep it up. You inspire us to inspire others
By the way .. when you were building in live stream then todd suggested a perfect grade ball joke… he just read my message.. and i was flattered that he noticed it.. dont blame him syd hege more power to ur show more love andmore gunpla to us all
wow! 206th episode.. nice episode guys.. if the rg sinanju comes out please do a live video building it syd! pls! pls and pls! can’t hardly wait for it to come out!
McCloud! No it’s Wallace, get it right! Great episode guys, although why did they start a new brand with Revive when they were already doing so with the HG[enter universe here]?
Argh!!! way too many Gyan puns!!! Great episode as always.
Thanks for the little history insight, I had no clue older gunpla kits were that… simple.
But damn that Qan[t] looked fragile, hope I’ll be proven wrong once I get my hands on it.
Sinanju HYPE!
I spent 20 minutes attempting to think of a good ‘Gyan’ pun, all i could think of was ‘Gyan’k you for the episode 🙂 Loved the Zoid,my dad thought it was amazing and was asking why my Gundams couldn’t walk like that. 70 comments for the last episode…. im sorry Syd i think it was the Heat Metal.
Syd a Liger is the child of a Male Lion and a Female Tiger, and will only occur in captivity because Lion and Tiger habitats don’t cross over each other. CONVERSELY if the Parents of the cub are a Male Tiger and a Female Lion, then the resulting cub is known as a Tigon instead.
Also on another note I wonder if the Tigon was the inspiration for the name of the Tryon 3 in anyway, because after all according to Meijin Kawaguchi GUNPLA IS FREEDOOOOOOMMMM!
“This comment is not sponsored by Meijin Kawaguchi the 3rd or Kira Yamato, all mentions of and use of the term gunpla is freedom has been my own use and not forced upon me by any outside party, regardless of if it is true or false.”
I can remember trying to build the motorized Zoids EZ-016 Zaber Fang kit with my dad around 13 years ago when I was 9 (I watched the anime and wanted it). Didn’t go to well as I had no patience for dealing with it when the parts wouldn’t stay together (my dad also has no skill with model kits which I knew from previous endeavors). I don’t think it was ever completely together but it was enough for me at the time. however it didn’t stay that way for long. It is now in pieces mostly lost some where but with a remaining few the head, left front and back leg parts and the all important motorized torso still in my possession. I always wanted to put it back together some day if I found the rest of it (very unlikely to happen).
Of course now I have to watch a favourite movie of mine ( Still Crazy ) due to one of the songs in it. SCREEAAAAAAM FREEDOOOOM!!!!!! Damn Bill Nighy’s a great actor.
Nice episode. I love what they’re doing with the revive line. Hopefully they’ll do the Wing Zero Custom and the Deathscythe Hell Custom revive, although the later as an RG would be awesome. Thanks again for a nice show.
That was an awesome episode guys. That Shield Liger is a beast (yes, pun intended). I hope to see more reviews and you guys have brought me back into the Zoids fold. I haven’t been interested in them since it came on Toonami years ago when I was a child. I’m looking forward to building my first kit soon. Good luck to all of you and to Ryan with the kids!
another great episode guys. looking forward to the RG shinanju, especially since i might be able to get one soon. giving away twin freedom’s? thats nuts
Bandai just released the newest kit in the Real Grade line, the 1/144 RG GNT-0000 00 QAN[T] and Gunpla TV couldn’t wait to show it to you and lo and behold we brought it to you in a Live Event.
Seems like we’ve waited a while for another RG from 00 and finally it’s here! The RG Qan[T] is a fan favourite and now gets the Real Grade treatment. Here we unbox the newest kit for all to see!
YAYYYYYY!
