Toy Tengoku – Episode 60 – You’re My Only Hope!

In this episode, Lindsay and David bring us a figure from a galaxy far, far away… S.H.Figuarts Ben Kenobi! Unlike his previous entry in the S.H.Figuarts lineup, this version of Obi-Wan is based on his appearance in “Star Wars: A New Hope,” and even comes with parts to recreate the scene just before he was struck down by Darth Vader. Be sure to check out our close-up, as well as the end of the video where you can find out how to enter and win Ben for yourself!

In this episode:
S.H.Figuarts Ben Kenobi
S.H.Figuarts Chewbacca (SOLO)
S.H.Figuarts Han Solo
S.H.Figuarts Mimban Stormtrooper
Nendoroid Genji: Classic Skin Edition (Overwatch)

In general, if it's a detailed miniature that's too small to be useful for anything other than taking up space, she'll probably love it.

  2. For my generation, this is the Kenobi we know and the movie we saw in the theaters was just known as Star Wars – although Lucas indicated that it was the fourth film chronologically in his planned saga, it would be still be many years before the original would officially be retconned as “Episode IV” or “A New Hope”.

  3. Is it me, or David was super excited about being able to put Kenobi’s body parts over his robe? Hilarious! xD

  5. Well… technically Ben did not die when fighting Vader, he just became one with the force and just left all his clothes behind, including his old man pants that he wore on a desert planet, good thing Vader has no sense of smell left.
Ill just let that sink in and i dare you to read out this comment during the show hehe

  6. Haha, that Ben Kenobi robe with the hand is pretty gross in a weirdly funny sort of way…. If I get this I’ll have to put him in that pose! 😀

  8. Looks great. The large robe in my opinion camouflages the joints a little bit, making the figure look much less awkward than other posable figures.

  29. My first ever Star Wars Figuarts figure was R2-D2, which was vastly superior to any other version I’d ever seen… And ever since, I’ve been long considering picking up more of them. If I could win ol’ Ben Kenobi here, maybe that’ll get the ball rolling!

  51. Would it be possible to Jedi mind trick the random number generator? Either way, nice figure! I saw it the other day at Yodobashi Camera and I’ve been debating picking it up. I’m afraid to start collecting the Star Wars Sh figuarts. It would lead me down a path.. a dark path.. or a broke path!

  62. Good looking figure. Just as a fun fact, Alec Guinness (actor for Obi Wan) hated Star Wars, but he still signed on for those royalties. He made more than $50 million because of that deal. So remember to always sign for those royalties instead of just getting a sum of money.

  74. Oh, Hobbylink. Please help me.
I live two very different lives. But both rely on one very measly budget..
Most of my days I just glide through.
I put in, about as much effort as is expected of me. And I contribute to, about as much as is required from me.
I really don’t look much. And I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t bother to either.
I don’t really think much. And I probably think even less about the fact.
    But when I do think about it there is only one thought that can pull me out from within those depths;
Someone has glided all the way through until the end.. And they totally rocked it, all the way through.
My second identity; The world’s #1 Alec Guinness fan.
You see, Ben Kenobi (Formerly known as, Obi-Wan. Do you see where this is going, already?) will not be remembered so much for his own achievements. But instead, by the achievements of the many strong & talented young boys he has recruited over the years. It is a simple yet genuis game which he plays.
    1. Use the force to sense out, the force, from within a potential, “The Chosen one”.
    2. Use force on the young prodigy to draw out inner, “The Chosen one” like qualities.
    3. Inadvertently create the centrifugal force of evil from said, “The Chosen one” Then release it upon the galaxy. This will both further a need for more chosen one’s & also reset the need to further care for the current, chosen one.. All while you can sit back and chill for a good minute.
    4. Find, “The Chosen one”. All over again.

We as humans are given many great gifts. Many of which we never care to let flourish. We also tend to be our greatest enemies. Being a Jedi would be awesome. And I’d like to think that I’d be awesome because of it. But no, I’d probably squander that too. I’d proabably be the, “Ben” Kenobi of Jedi, and Just let everyone do stuff around me. While I grow a beard and talk about how things should be. The trick to getting all of the credit, all of the time, is to just stay alive long enough to grow a damn beard.

Unfortunately I have to decide between paying for nourishment/utilities, and commemorating my great idol.
Please Hobbylink, Help me finish my shrine.
