Q/A & Help Group 9 years, 9 months agook i decaled my hi nu painted it up gloss coated it and then finally i flat coated it and then all of a sudden it started frosting the entire model the decal on the head is completely gone thank god i only painted up the head piece with it help pls im so mad

Did you allow the gloss coat to completely cure before putting on the flat coat? What kind of gloss and flat did you use (laquer, acrylic?) Did you spray outside in the cold?

yea i did its tamiya acrylic and i used an airbrush and i sprayed a coat of it
and i did it in the house at night-
I had the same problem with my MG Destiny. The flat coat was the worst of the two. It even happened with the gloss acrylic from Tamiya.
I did some searching on the web back then.

In threw the Tamiya in the trash and ordered Alclad II Klear Kote Matte. Didn’t had any trouble with it so far, but only used it ones on a model plane a few weeks back. But keep in mind, this is an enamel based clear, regardless of what the brand name implies.

mind if I share what I did with my MG Nu Gundam, after painting, I used flat coat first for paint protection. And thats the only thing that I flat coat it. Then panel lining then seal with clear coat (not gloss coat), then decals(water) seal with clear coat then all the way clear coat and it still look flat and I’m satisfied. I would suggest some sort of weathering or painting for the weapons. That way, they won’t look so plastic.

You could also try the builder’s parts hands. They’re static poses, but they have an open hand, closed hand, and trigger finger hand. They’re really nice looking, and come in styles for zeon and federation style MS, as well as small and large versions for both 1/144th and 1/100 scale. Q/A & Help Group 9 years, 9 months agosup guys! so i bought the theatrical release edition of the banshee & unicorn gundam, is there anything i could do to make it look more shiny/glossy? out of the box they look dull and flat.-
think the standard reply would be use a really high gloss clear coat or future floor polish, but since these kits are clear I don’t really think you should do that so I really don’t think there is anything that you’d really want to do to them. clear kits are kinda tricky like that.

well i guess if u want u could give up the clear psycho frame and made a silver base over clear color to produce more shinniess but overall the idea of using gloss clear is not good ull fog up the clear color so dont do that

I’ve heard of some people dipping canopies of model planes in Future Floor Polish. But if this gives this the result you are looking for…..?

use a top coat over it i had the problem the first time so just get future pledge top coat that stuff is the greatest protection over ur kits

If you want to have the color stay matte/flat, you definitely shouldn’t use “Future Pledge” as this gives the paint a gloss coat. In other words, the flat black paint will turn into a gloss black.
If you used a enamel paint, let it cure for 3 to 4 days. Enamels take long to cure, but are very scratch resistant.

I just set mine up to ship, though I shipped the Unicorn and LEDs separately to try avoid NZ customs. The minimum price for customs fees to incur varies between NZD $300 and $400 so often it’s hard to know if anything will make it through…

I take it that is Fahrenheit…? We don’t all live in the US…. As long as the humidity isn’t above 70 percent you should be fine. Just takes longer to dry and cure

That’s actually not a good idea, as that’s freezing. I suggest finding an indoor area that you can keep above 40 degrees. under 40 degrees, and the paint can start to crystalize, and fracture, and even freeze. If you are going to do it, I suggest you keep the cans indoors, go out, spray the spray the part, and the immediately take the part inside…[Read more]

That’s what I figured, that he is only going to paint it outside. Normally a lacquer starts to dry and cure as it is sprayed.
And any paint will start to shift when it is kept in a freezing condition. This is stated on the cans and bottles in most cases.-

Normally they are designed for 1/144 kits. For the hangars and trucks, you could get away by using it for a small MG, like the Wing kits, but even then, they will be on the large side.
As for the hands from M.S.G. line, it is designated on the package they are to be used with 1/114 models.
