1/12 KOS-MOS Ver.1 by Kotobukiya (Available From HobbyLink Japan – HLJ.com)
The very first Kos-mos has returned thanks to Kotobukiya! Let’s see how she is!
A nicely illustrated cover art that comes across as quite fresh.
The box is a bit thicker than a regular Real Grade box.
The side art shows off the face with the price of 4800 JPY in the corner. Get 20% discount at HLJ.com!
A lot of optional parts and gimmicks are shown at the other side, including the Hilbert Effect, Impact Cannon, Hand Vulcan, and X-Buster.
When you crack open the box, the colors are quite light, which seems to match the overall impression from the cover, and Kos-mos in general.
A well printed manual will tell you everything about how to get this girl built.
The steps don’t seem so complicated, as you can guess from the white real estate all around.
A well detailed official color guide is offered if you really want to bump up the quality of your end product.
For some of the highlight plates, here are some clear ones, along with light light gold.
And here are all the plates shown in alphabetical order.
Lots of prepainted faces with their makeup already on.
Now for some final thoughts. Up to this point, almost everything seems just about right. The color, the details, many pre-painted parts in their individual plastic bags, and numerous optional faces and hands. Yet we’ll have to see how it works out in terms of mobility, and staying together. And will the colors be a little bit too subtle? Stick around to find out together in part 2! Thanks for reading.
