It’s funny that you mention that! I was actually thinking “Aubergine or Byzantium” earlier. 🙂
Hmm, the only problem I see with Byzantium is if you don’t want the model to sound like it’s from the Byzantine Empire, lol.

Hmm, if you want to go with a name that has a shade of purple… how about Aubergine Nova? Since Char is known as the Red Comet, I think you know where I’m going with this. 🙂
-
I love where your going with the name. However the lighting in that picture is aweful. The purple color is actually much brighter when viewed in proper lighting. It’s somewhere between Byzantium and Byzantine.

I know, this quite frustrating.

Well, we can go for what the color purple symbolizes. More often than not, it’s nobility. Noble Nova sounds a little strange, even though it’s the start of an alliteration.
Hmm, Majestic Torch…nah.
Okay, here’s another way to think about it: purple is a combination of the primary colors blue and red. Both of those are colors of fire, with…[Read more]

Nope, I’m gonna call it “The Tyrian Nova” I was just reading up on the history of the color purple and how it was used, and it’s perfect.

Thanks for the help man

It’s definitely one of the most interesting ones, for sure. 🙂

You should definitely order those replacements ASAP, mate. GK has a tendency to be backed up for a few weeks due to the number of people using their service. :/ Anywho, I’m definitely looking forward to your build!

^ Comment is win. Good luck with that build! Should be very fun!

Semi-gloss should work just fine. Remember to use enamel thinner sparingly though, as it can eat away polystyrene and ABS.

Don’t worry. I have a tendency to do that with every other model kit. Just curious, which part(s) of your Crossbone did you break (that is, if at all)? It seems that the major knee joint is rather fragile on all of the Crossbone models.

No problem, mate. 🙂 I almost overlooked it myself, haha. Might as well use EMS though, right? Sometimes it takes me a month to get parts from them via SAL. :/

The cold’s never stopped me before. 🙂 Have fun building this!

GK does have AGE-1 Normal listed, if that’s what you’re looking for.

Oh man, I’m sorry. :/ What happened with your Crossbone project?
-
This project is already giving me a hard time. If I order parts from Bluefin, it’ll take a month, and GK doesn’t have the kit listed yet.
To say the least, my Crossbone project dive-bombed. I’m saving it for later.

Thank you a thousand times. I could have sworn that it wasn’t there before.

Wait, have you topcoated this? You won’t be able to clean off excess enamel without taking off at least some of that paint. 🙁
-
So the topcoat would protect the spray paint from the thinner, right? Which would you recommend, a gloss coat?
-
You should put down a gloss coat first, anything from mr.hobby is probably fine in light coats. If you’re airbrushing, you can go for pledge future, which is a floor polish that many modelers use for a gloss coat. It works, but sometimes I can’t seem to get all the enamel off, but that could be my own fault, I’ve only used the enamel wash twice
-
I wonder if semi-gloss coat will do… I could get only this =(
-
-
-
I’m goin to try both – with and without coating. I have only semi-gloos coat and still not sure if it is ok to use with enamel/enamel thinner or not. That’s my main problem right now -_-

A panel wash is when you use capillary action to panel line. Watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLXs-kg-SVk Scott explains it well. 🙂

Hey man, good luck with your project! How long until you get the kit? 🙂

Good luck, mate! This is a great find! It’s definitely one of my fave Batmobile designs. 🙂

Well, thinner wouldn’t damage the paint if you topcoat it, do an enamel wash, and use thinner sparingly when cleaning the excess. 🙂
-
I can’t even topcoat this thing until the spring! 🙁
-
You don’t happen to have any Pledge With Future Shine available to purchase? That stuff you can apply by brush indoors.
-
Not at any nearby stores, but I’m going to keep looking. Besides, I want to give this model (and most others) a flat coat.
-
If you can’t find it, you may have to bite the bullet and order some online. However, it seems like you can’t remove the panel lining you did on the feet because it was directly over the paint, right?
-
Right. But I’m not too worried about it. Everyone’s their own worst critic.

Hopefully, to coincide with the MG Gundam X release and your project, Bandai decides to make a MG Leopard. 🙂

I can definitely see this working, especially with matte paints. Good luck! 🙂
