WIP 5: Proceeded to do the panel wash with black enamel paint and thinner. Did almost all the pieces in one sitting and man was it tiring! 😛 I realized that the panel wash does not apply to everything and some surfaces are better finished with a panel liner. I ran out of cotton buds since my ratio is almost 1 bud per piece. 🙂

    • Looking nice!.

    • Thanks!.

    • Looking really nice mate! Pardon my noob question, but what is actually panel wash? Is it different from panel line? Thanks!

      • A panel wash is when you use capillary action to panel line. Watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLXs-kg-SVk Scott explains it well. 🙂

      • Thanks mate! As @Justin said has said above, instead of using a pen to fill the lines, you use a brush to apply a mixture of enamel paint and thinner and let it flow down the panel lines. 🙂

        • Thanks for the info mates. I watched the youtube link and it’s really an interesting technique. I don’t know if I can pull it out to produce a decent quality though. I guess for now I will stay with markers. 😀

          • That was actually my first time to try it out and it went well, you should try it out! 🙂 You will start messy at first, the decent quality can be achieved thru the use of thinner and cotton buds. 😉 It saved me a lot of time compared to multiliners, 😀

            • Well, you have a talent if this is your first time mate. 🙂 May I know what paint and thinner you used? I’ll think of it if I will go to panel wash. Problem is I already put lines with marker on my kit. So I don’t want it to messed up if I decided to change. Maybe for my next kit I’ll try it out.

              • Thanks mate, i just watched a couple of tutorials before actually doing it. 😛 I used the Tamiya Black Enamel Paint and Tamiya Enamel Thinner. Oh okay, I think the one with the marker is great as it is. 😀 Just to be safe, you should try it on a kit you won’t enter in a competition, and the cheaper ones like an SD or AG. 😉
