Gunpla TV – Episode 287 – RG Sazabi & Megami Device Chaos!

Big episode this week! The mystery builder who took on the Megami Device Chaos & Pretty Magical Girl was none other than our head honcho and talented builder, Scott! Scott takes us through a nicely detailed review of the Pretty Magical Girl and all of her special features and weapons. Todd has also finished the RG Sazabi and can’t wait to tell you all of the reasons why this is such a great kit and possibly his favorite so far from 2018!

Kits in this episode:
1/100 Frame Arms: Genbu
1/144 RG Sazabi
1/1 Megami Device Chaos & Pretty Magical Girl

Her favorite lines are Hasegawa's Mechatro WeGo line, Meng's World War Toons Pinky line, and weird miscellany like Platz's bonsai tree kits. In general, if it's a detailed miniature that's too small to be useful for anything other than taking up space, she'll probably love it.

  1. Seeing how good the RG Sazabi turned out to be, I hope there’s an RG Nu Gundam on the way!
PS: an RG Epyon would be most welcome as well!

  4. Disappointed that Scott didn’t try to “strip” the Sazabi, haha! Always good to see him and Todd on the channel! Really like that RG Sazabi, I love my original MG Sazabi but he’s so big that I can’t really take him out… might get the RG version to fix that!

  16. Yay! Glad to have gotten the shout out X’D I like being the informed guy =D
By the way, how long is ‘Gundam Build Divers Related Item A (Tentative Name) going to be un-named? This kit was recently revealed as Nanami Nanase’s Diver Avatar. I’m not sure if it’s going to have that name, but I’d imagine it’s a better name than ‘Related Item A’ XD

  20. I hope Kotobukiya release that chain with another kit. I’m not too interested in that Megami Device Magical Girl but the Frame Arms: Genbu i am interested but with my limited income it has to wait until my current projects are done.

  22. Do you guys know the feeling when you have built Gundam then you have a belated idea for it?
Making post painted changes is a precarious precipice from which the minutest slip could incur unravelling hours of work and yet an idea unrealised is a wasted chance, therefore we must strive ever onward in our quest to achieve the sublime.

  25. I’m so glad Bandai decided to give Sazabi a dedicated frame instead of trying to re-engineer an old frame. I think they learned their lesson well from Sinanju (even now I prefer the HGUC to the RG of that).

Pretty Magical Girl and Chaos Witch seem to be the first paired Megami Device kits that don’t seem to be advertised as having a combined Full Armour Mode. I wonder if that’s because they’re magic-based rather than tech-based? Even ASRA Ninja and ASRA Archer have the combining gimmick.

  26. Want to order the RG Sazabi but already splurged and (finally!) ordered the Super Nova MG Heavyarms Custom (thanks P-Bandai d:) but love the look of it. Been wanting the MG forever but RG’s have become my favorite so kind of glad I waited.

  27. Nice episode!

That Frame arms kit looks amazing, looking forward to see it assembled.
Th RG Sazabi also looks killer, it is a shame that bandai does not include waterslides with their RG, MG and PG lines, waterslides help allot to the looks of a kit, specially if you want to weather it.
    Also, Bring back Boss Builds!!!

Keep up the good work, you’re getting better every week!

  28. Rg nu when? Actually i already have the mg versions thanks to hlj.

I wish bandai would figure out the whole mecha girl thing with their kits. The eyes need to be printed on or atleast waterslides. two thing they like to save money on. they finally added changable faceplates in their newest build divers girl kit so they are improving.

  32. Hello there Todd, I’m a 1/144 fan as well. Too bad 1/100 kits generally have more gimmicks. Well time to learn to cut up some pla plate I guess.

  33. I’ve noticed that a lot of the recent Frame Arms have variations on the same name. Is that just a case of pronouncing the same characters in Chinese/Japanese/English? For instance, the “Byakko” is listed on HLJ as such, but other sites/the box/the manual also use “Baihu” and “White Tiger” as well, all three interchangeably.

  53. Hello,

That RG Sazabi is so freaking awesome ! Need one of these !
By the way i’d like to see that 1/100 Frame Arms: Genbu built, looks like cool too.
And for those who never tried Kotobukiya’s kits, i’ve actually built two.. and they were very nicely detailed and quit fun to build. Though, it’s true there are some very little thin pieces, so it may not be ideal for beginners, but exellent kits anyway. I do recommand them.

    • I was hoping you would feature the Genbu/Black Tortoise/Xuanwu, love those bulky mecha designs! Looking forward to your finished build! Hopefully this means that more frame arms (like the eventual vermilion bird and azure dragon) will show up on Gunpla TV.
      P.S.
