Level 75 Marketing Mage. Editor, admin, and occasional code monkey. Stand User in her free time. Though she does build kits when time allows, time doesn't allow often. Her favorite lines are Hasegawa's Mechatro WeGo line, Meng's World War Toons Pinky line, and weird miscellany like Platz's bonsai tree kits. In general, if it's a detailed miniature that's too small to be useful for anything other than taking up space, she'll probably love it.

  1. If there’s an HGUC Galbaldy B and a Galbaldy Rebake, I can only hope we get an HG Altron after the Jiyan Altron.

    • I hope so too and I hope the Endless Waltz version would not be a P-Bandai exclusive.

  2. the MG Jegan does not look as sharp as some of the other more recent MG kits.
It reminds me more of the old gundam kits from the 90’s

  3. Glad that such a classic MS from the good old gets the MG treatment! This would sit nicely next to my Nu Gundam and Sazabi! 😀

  4. Hey! Thanks for reading my comment from the previous episode.
I agree with you, Todd. There’s been an artistic vs technical clash recently in GBWC, and the judges haven’t been able to deal with that in the best way yet. They should consider improving the criteria (I mean; only considering craftsmanship, painting and idea as judging criteria is too vague for a competition this big).
Also, if there’s a new edition of Playing with Plamo, count me in! The judging last time was a bit questionable, but I know you guys will look into that if you ever host a new edition again. I love competition, and the overall experience in the last Playing with Plamo was fantastic even though I wasn’t able to finish my entry on time. I’ve learnt a lot with my build and by interacting with other contestants.
    Cheers! (^o^)/

  6. I am not really sure about the MG Jegan, it lacks details/gimmicks, not even RE grade, it’s weird, maybe it was rushed?

    • I think it was designed to look like the animation designs. Rather than a straight redesign like the new Nu Gundam and Sazabi.

  8. As bad as the G-Saviour movie is, I really liked that it had a variant of the GM in it with me being a GM fan. I really wish there was a kits made of that suit because I have too many kitbash ideas already. To buy more kits to make a RGM-196 Freedom for my collection right now is too much for me.

  9. It would be nice to win the ¥2000.
I could use it towards the MG GNT-0000/FS 00 Qan[T] Full Saber that comes out in September 2018.

  27. My only gripe with the Jegan is that they stayed way too faithful to the source material so it’s really lacking in finer details like panel lines which goes to show the disparity of the quality of MG releases while other “lower” lines like the the RE and HG have adopted a more detailed approach lately. Nothing a chisel can’t fix but a shame nevertheless.

  28. Love the Jegan look, hope there will be an RG kit someday.
I dont like the MG size, but the RG line I like.

  29. I like the Jegan design a lot but that colour always seemed weird to me. If I get one I’ll probably have to paint it.

  30. Hello, speaking about a gundam movie, i’m not sure guillermo del toro would be the best choice.. (even if i mostly like his work..) But i would enjoy it anyway ! (just seeing the rx-78 move in “ready player one” gave me some ideas..)
If there is a gundam movie one day.. i guess gundam the origins or maybe thunderbolts would probably be a good a start in my opinion.
And that is because there are many people which are not at all in the gundam universe (i’m french.. so it’s probably related.. :).
So i think most people wouldn’t be able to understand the basics setup of the story : Why and how humanity moved to space and why at first is there gundams, and what are they… i really think beginning by the beginning (And probably following uc timeline since it’s the most develloped..) is important here not to make the error on relying only on visuals and special effects.. the movie should keep ambiances, geopolitical context.. and what i would call “the spirit” of Gundam serie.. Just making another live adaptation with “no soul” as so many of them would in my opinon be a real great mistake for such a license which i think has great potential.
(Sorry for the choices of words or mistakes, as i said i’m french.. And sorry for the fact i tend to write so looong comments, must sometimes be a pain to read)

  33. This wouldn’t be the first time there was plans for a Live Action Gundam movie – a lot of people forget the Canadian movie G-Saviour, which I think was quite under-appreciated, but I thought it was kinda cool. The G-SAVIOUR itself is rather basic, so it kinda didn’t really fit in the setting (it was set over 100 years after Gundam Unicorn, but it was made about 18 years ago, so it really stands out against the better designs of modern Gundam).

  34. MG Jegan looks pretty plain but is anime accurate, if I win the ¥2000 I’ll use it to buy it. Otherwise I’ll wait for the PB Jegan D or Stark Jegan.

  35. Last year, Canada was added to the list of GBWC qualifying countries. One of the competitions was held in Montreal (others in the west of Canada and online). At Otakuthon – Montreal’s anime convention – we had members from Bandai who came to show off Gundam Versus. When they saw the amount of Gunpla in the Gunpla room and the kits entered in the tournament, they said that they’ve never seen this much love for Gundam/Gunpla any where else but Japan. We at GMTL (Gunpla Montreal – Montreal’s Gunpla club) were so happy to hear that. Years of hard work to bringing the tournament to Canada and our love for the franchise finally paid off.

PS – There was a Gundam live action movie made in 1999/2000. It was called G-Saviour, and it was produced in Canada. No one likes to talk about it however or acknowledge that it exists.

  54. I approve Lindsay’s suggestion for a Playing With Plamo contest. The last one was amazing and even if I didn’t place among the finalists, it was the thing that made me experiment with painting/scribing/weathering. Had it not been for that contest I would still be doing straight builds without any sort of modification to them.

I say let Todd compete but he has to be out of the judging part. Hell it would even be awesome to have a Syd’s pick.

My first SD Gundam was the Sengoku Astray and I loved putting it together which got me into the HG Gundam Model Kits which I love still to build but I don’t have space to display them which to me is sad cause i want to show them off

  61. Did you hear about the live action movie Sunrise and Legendary announced?
I wonder if it would follow the first animation TV series or a original story.
I have some faith that graphically it can look very good, but I hope the story and direction would’nt suffer in-favour of graphics and actions sequences. Maybe it would turn out like Pacific Rim?
    (Please, let it be good).

  62. I really dig the frame of the Jegan, if and when I get it, I’ll have a lot to play with my Liquid Chrome marker to make it look awesome. As Lindsay also stated, the armor definitely needs some added paint, but this minty base gives tons of options for customizing, and I’m looking forward to doing just that.

  63. Regarding the movie, I’m keeping my expectations pretty low for two reasons:
    – To avoid disappointment.
    – Because I should.
I’m not saying it will be terrible, but chances are like 99% it will.
Guillermo del Toro would make it good as a movie, not as a GUNDAM movie. In my opinion, that’s exactly the issue with G-Savior, it was not a bad movie at all! As Gundam, though, it’s a tragedy.
I hope the MS designs will be good, we don’t know what to expect so the sky is the limit! If they don’t have tiny feet like some recent designs do, that’ll be a good start.

  64. I’m enjoying Build Divers it seems like we’re about to get some answers as to who or what Sarah is and her role in GBN. Patrick Colasour the lucky bastard keeps turning up in almost every episode along with all the other cameos you got to look closely for in certain scenes. I wasn’t expecting to win the 2000 yen this episode thanks HLJ I hope to get in contact with someone soon.

  68. Your kit reviews are far superior to the coverage that Bandai gives the winning Gunpla from the GBWC.
The pinnacle of creative expression is conveyed via a little more that a still picture unless you are lucky enough to be able to visit the exhibit.
It wouldn’t be beyond Bandai’s resources to immortalise these concepts as kits and who wouldn’t love to have a version of Lui Chun’s Leonidas, Cardinal the Light Bringer from David Liew shi Wei and the winning entry from last year – Enemy Spotted.
It would be a fitting tribute and acknowledgement of the symbiotic relationship between builders and manufacturers.
This level of creativity on display seems to have more potential that signified by a token reward and in my opinion deservers and a more fitting and permanent form of recognition.

I know they are very involved in organizing but the greater the advanced warning we can get the better especially for those that wish to order and receive a kit to build that might be on back order. Every day extra to paint and build makes a huge difference.
