MG Gundam Barbatos Unboxing

1/100 MG Gundam Barbatos

The MG Gundam Barbatos has arrived, finally realizing the most memorable Gundam from “Iron Blooded Orphans” as a stunning MG! We’ve been waiting in anticipation for a few months for this one and the wait has finally paid off.

The Box

First, we get a front and rear view of the completed kit. This is not an out-of-box build, but I can’t imagine there’s that much additional detailing here beyond some panel lining.

We also get a really cool battle pose to demonstrate the articulation of the completed model.

Another front and rear view, but this time of the inner frame! Not only is this panel chock full of features this frame has to offer, but it shows off the included character figures and markings.

An introduction to the weaponry of the kits. It’s a pretty good collection of arms.

The backpack and thrusters are also shown off, alongside a single image of the completed kit without paint, out-of-box.

Level 75 Marketing Mage. Editor, admin, and occasional code monkey. Stand User in her free time. Though she does build kits when time allows, time doesn't allow often. Her favorite lines are Hasegawa's Mechatro WeGo line, Meng's World War Toons Pinky line, and weird miscellany like Platz's bonsai tree kits. In general, if it's a detailed miniature that's too small to be useful for anything other than taking up space, she'll probably love it.

  1. so… I don’t buy that many MG kits but shouldn’t the hands/fingers be articulated?

    • Most likely I buy even less MG than you, though I have a vague recollection of earlier MGs having articulated fingers. I think they moved away from that in later kits for stronger grip and poses. Though, this may be second or third hand information. =/

      • Well that’s dumb. They did the same thing to the RG line which made the kits a lot less exciting. I was looking forward to this kit because the hands were claw like. They could still include an articulated set of hands along with the static hands. The RX-78-2 MG 3.0 has a set of pretty awesome full jointed set of hands.

Seems like a downgrade to me.

  2. Just waiting on that Master Grade Beargguy San. Which is totally going to happen. Yup.

  3. MG Barbatos is easily my favorite MG besides the 3.0 RX-78-2. I already loved the design of the original HG Barbatos, but this one fixes all the shortcomings of the previous kit. Will definitely check it out once it gets into stock at some point.
