does anyone know how to strip of primer. i screwed up some parts of my sazabi thinking that itll look ok even though the primer wasnt completely covered just like 75%covered. then i covered it up with red and it left with a grainy red. does anyone know how to strip that all of easily

    • the same paint thinner you’re using for your paint should work for your primer. also if the surface is smooth you could just sand it down. another note, there is something called tool cleaner, you run that through your airbrush to clean it up after use, don’t get those mixed up, tool cleaner is powerful stuff and will eat the plastic of your kit,…[Read more]

      • well i use spray cans so. anyways what kind of paint is tamiya primer acrylic or laquer

        • I’m not sure but I believe they make both, but if you don’t know which you have and want to take it off, lacour thinner should desolve an acrylic primer anyways.

i recently got a zeta gundam ver 2.0 and decided to paint it blue. any kind of blues out there that anyone would recomend?

    • well zeta already has lots of blue on it but I guess you mean the whole thing in different shades of blue, anyways it sort of depends on what effect your going for, but well see my icon….hint hint. ok seriously though if you’re gonna do a blue scheme then megaman is as good a starting point as any.

Hi , is it ok to use regular masking tape to tape up kits , before painting? Or is it much better to use a proper hobby tape?
    Cheers

Hi guys! I’ll post the same question on a few threads here so that it’s easier for it to become an attention grabber. I’m looking for the best high gloss varnish that I can get. Also, I’m thinking about Liquitex high gloss varnish. Any recommendations?
    Thanks in advance!

    • I recommend not posting the same thing on different threads, it just annoys people and make them not want to help usually.

as for the high gloss finish, “future floor polish” is the general big recommendation. but just as important as the product is the surface prep, if it’s not smooth it won’t shine.

Hey folks, still prepping to start my sazabi but i was curious if i should snap build this thing first before i start my painting or just paint as i go, like i have been doing. i’ll be hand painting and using a totally different color scheme.

    • Painting while it’s snapped isn’t easy unless you modify the parts, some people on youtube (including “theghostofzeon” who was the australian entry for the gundam world cup) do tutorials on this, mostly peg cutting so they can snap kits together and then pull them apart without risking parts damage when pulling it apart again.

      But then again it…[Read more]

      • Right now i paint as a go, but seem lines bother me tremendously so im very mindful of how and what im painting and when. i was really curious because of this kit having so many moving panels, what method would be easier. I would be VERY nervous about peg cutting on this kit, so i will be very limited on my test fitting.

        I really don’t plan on…[Read more]

    • well it really depends on a couple of things. From your question I’m assuming what you really want to know is if you should paint the model assembled or in pieces, so I’ll focus mostly around there. Now then you mention hand painting and a color scheme, now if you’re gonna do some sort of intricate details like hand painting a logo or something…[Read more]

      • The hand painting technique is just the method of choice due to limited budget and my extreme familiarity with the medium. I find that using “green stuff” (miniature 2-part epoxy filler) cleans up seem lines fairly well and also sticks to the prime that i use so thats not really an issue. Primary concern is the amount of tolerance between parts,…[Read more]

        • green stuff… you do warhammer miniatures. Yes green stuff will get in there rather nicely but once again you’ll have to paint over that and so you’ll want those parts together still, as for the casting lines it’s fairly easy to clean up, and Bandai to begin with is pretty good about them to begin with, but all you do is scrape it with your…[Read more]

does anyone know a site that sells replacement parts broke a piece of sazabi ver ka kinda upset about it i tried gg said they dont sell and then i went to genteikits and it said they only sell until like their part paid 50 or something like that i dont know how to buy it on genteikits since im new to it but just wondering are there any other sites…[Read more]

    • Genteikits is currently down, due to the enormous amount of orders they’ve been receiving. Wait on that.

Did you buy the kit from HLJ? If you did, they give free replacement parts for ones broken or defective out of packaging. It’s only for orders placed within the past ten days, though.

      • So gentei kits got flooded because of replacement parts?

Aww, I got parts from them last month and was thinking of getting more…replacements *wink*

    • Well ,when gentei kits works again its a simple order form (it may change though from what I just seen), order the parts, check emails, then pay the invoice later on, seems odd but it works…but again it may change since now they order the parts like normal customers of bandai replacement parts.

Howdy, got a question about those online exclusives, specifically the recently announced msv color gelgoog cannon.

I know the body is a 2.0, I know the backpack and arm weapons are from the old 1.0 base Johnny Ridden/cannon set, but…what about the head?

WIll that be a custom 2.0, or just a 1.0 adapted to fit onto the 2.0 body?

    There are a…[Read more]

    • its sort of a combination of a gelgoog 2.0 head on the back with that fin but bumped up with an rx 78 top piece mabe take that off an rx and just glue it onto the top of the gelgoog and bump the fin to the back of it either that or probably scratch build one yea prob scratchbuilding it might make it look more exact

has anyone ever painted sazabi in italian red if so can u show me a pic of it

    • Better off googling italian red and maybe a car so you get an idea of the finish…results may differ depending on skill.

OR if you have it on hand try painting a plastic spoon and see if you like the finish, I gotta get around to doing this, I have the same red…and a rebawoo to try it out on!

Ok folks, need some opinions on color scheme. I got the amazing MG Sazabi Ver Ka last week and i have been holding back on the build until i figured out a color scheme for it….

    • i actually had once tried the colour scheme of banshee where i painted the frame, horn, yellow parts metallic gold and the red two shades of black and it kind of turned out quite well

    Howdy, got yet another question!

So I got the 1/100 metal gear rex on pre-order…the black version, then I realised…

How the heck do DO panel line this!?

Yes, I’d like to retain its originals colors, don’t think typical grey or black would work…would I have to make a custom enamel wash color/white?

I’ll just be glossing then matte’ing the…[Read more]
