I kind of want to go past that one… It jost come to as not shiny and smooth enough for me. Though the end result is pretty good and it’s so damn easy to work with I’d be willing to pay more and sweat a bot in order to get that perfect finish. Though, doing some sort of compound clear coat would be a bite too much I guess.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpTm1MBX3K0 this made me think about if there’s something better perhaps. GunPla kits in general can do with FF (Final Fantasy) for that gloss-enough to more or less high gloss finish. I even put FF on straight flat for semi semi flat look. It’s just amazing that the glossines of the finish can be toned up or down in…[Read more]
Right now I’m trying to research as much as I can about Alclads aqua gloss coat but all I can find is that it is, in fact, Future-like to the point that people say it’s identical…
I find if I just lightly dust with FF I get a nice “not too glossy” look, although if I specifically want a flatter look I use the Alclad light sheen (or whatever it’s called).
A gloss that could be buffed nicely would be interesting. Anyone got any ideas for that?
I need someone to recommend me THE MOST SHINIEST clear coat/topcoat/varnish there is. Being a Formula 1 fan these guys need to be blingy shiny for me!
Thanks in advance guys!
I think a shiny clear coat is less about what product you use, and more about how well you polish it.
A “shiny” surface basically means you get really good specular reflections – that is from one viewing angle the surface will reflect light mostly from just one direction, like a mirror. That also means that minor imperfections in the surface of…[Read more]
Of course he’s a good guy, he is a Russian after all! And he does transform, into an airplane of the same name, you know, with the inverted wings. In a new Muv-Luv movie by Michal Bay this guy is played by none […]
Hi tetsu! As a matter of fact, I wasn’t wondering if there would be another reissue of that kit. I was certain there wouldn’t be! I thought it long gone and buried since it’s one of the worst things that came out of Gundam universe, if not the worst. The kit itself is pretty good, the movie counterpart sucked to high heavens.
I’d beef it up as much as it can be, following the original designs as much as I find possible. However, it’s more of a troll quesion as I’m sure no one will use this kit as something they would compete with. If someone did, I’d be more than interested to see the ratings of the same in this contest.
Mandatory WIP. Just in case I decide to enter with this kit.
This is as much of it I’ll show at this time. Photos of the finished kit will be shown after the contest is over.
It’s a model I had sitting around for a while. Together with a few more I’ll tuck in this little competition we’re having here, with one that I still need to pick that would be heavily customized. At the end, I’ll have to pick something. The cow, I always paint my miniatures. Photo of it is there just to fill my quota of photos needed to have in…[Read more]
I’ll be copy-pasting this to the other group as well.
Does anyone have any advices on how to make a vacuum spray booth? Like the one that can be seen here http://www.hlj.com/product/ATXSPB-02/Sup
Or at the very least some more affordable ones. Thanks in advance guys!
I thought of using some sort of beefed up kitchen aspirator or something like that. But due to the paint residue I don’t think it’d last all that long. I could find a used one for some 15USD but I’d just be throwing money aroind if it would go dead in a week, if you know what I mean. On top of that, I doubt ot would be strong enough to pull the…[Read more]

Way too many “thoughs” in that reply, sorry. 😛
I find the FF works well, but as you say, if there’s something better for a “special” gloss finish out there, I’d love to know too!

The best gloss coat is urethane clear. All real car use the same type of urethane clear, same goes with most pro builder.
I myself still prefer using Mr. Hobby GX clear and Gaianotes EX- clear.
I don’t think which clear is matter, since car builder will still need to polish it. 🙂
