Catpla!? Neko Busou Tenkomori & Namimori Review

Mecha Gaikotsu breaks into the first five Neko Busou kits to see what they’re made of — and what can be made out of them!

Neko Busou — “cat weapons” — is a new plastic model series from Bandai that started as an April Fools joke, and became reality thanks to popular demand! Fans of mecha kits like Gunpla and Frame Arms who also have an affinity for cats will love these. Each kit comes with one fully painted cat figure for you to weaponize to your heart’s content. Every kit in the series is outfitted with standard 3mm joints, so you can combine them with Gunpla to your heart’s content.

The cat included with Tenkomori is named “Kutsushita” (Socks), a black and white cat in a standing pose who is described as getting sleepy when he feels the heat of a motor. He’s probably somebody’s pet. Kutsushita comes equipped with a cat-specific military-style jacket to which you can attach a variety of armaments to create your own weaponized kitty!

There are four different cats in the series 1 Namimori set:
A. Grey: The fastest learner of weapons use. Prepares the food at gatherings and takes photos. Comes with a launcher mecha set.
B. Shiro (White): Uses weapons to fly through the air. Gives the other cats massages. Comes with a heli-mecha set.
C. Chatora (Orange Tabby): Uses weapons to move around with crawlers and floats around in drones. Comes with a tank mecha set.
D. Kuro (Black): Surprises people in the neighborhood with his new ways of using weapons. Is highly motivated. Comes with a jet mecha set.

Each cat comes equipped with a cat-specific military-style jacket (styled to look like cat carriers and cardboard boxes) to which you can attach a variety of armaments from other Neko Busou sets to create your own custom weaponized kitty!

Level 75 Marketing Mage. Editor, admin, and occasional code monkey. Stand User in her free time. Though she does build kits when time allows, time doesn't allow often. Her favorite lines are Hasegawa's Mechatro WeGo line, Meng's World War Toons Pinky line, and weird miscellany like Platz's bonsai tree kits. In general, if it's a detailed miniature that's too small to be useful for anything other than taking up space, she'll probably love it.
