The Tokyo Sky Tree opened in May of 2012 to the public, and since then the enormous infrastructure and iconic tower has been the home to many collaborations. We wouldn’t consider this “new” news by any means, but did you know that there are two enormous displays inside the Sky Tree at this very moment?
Say ‘hello’ to the huge “Evangelion” Unit-01 display and the “Macross” VF-25 permanent exhibition!
This massive EVA Unit-01 display has actually been around since late December, but we don’t hear a whole lot about it online. The experience isn’t as simple as merely viewing the beast of a display, as you actually enter a very specific elevator to go see it – an elevator that is absolutely decked out in décor and theming to make you feel like you’re inside of a real Entry Plug!
You see, this exhibit is actually the monument that welcomes you into the Sky Tree’s commemoration collaboration event of the new film, “Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time” – which includes decor, food, goods, photo experiences, and so much more. This collab ends at the end of May 2021, so if you’re in Japan and want to experience it for yourself, we recommend you do it ASAP!

The “Macross” VF-25 display is actually a huge permanent exhibit that’s been around since 2014! That’s pretty much seven years with this bad boy up for looks, and we don’t hear many people talk about it!
It was actually made in tandem with the Chiba Institute of Technology, so the people who worked on this and built it really know their stuff! Next time you find yourself at Tokyo Sky Tree, check out this life-size model of the Gerwalk form of the Valkyrie VF-25F for yourself. We’re hoping it’s not going anywhere anytime soon!
