Robot Damashii Tachikoma Ghost in the Shell: 2nd GIG Review

Robot Damashii Tachikoma Ghost in the Shell: 2nd GIG – Available from HobbyLink Japan

Following the unboxing, here is the review of classic Tachikoma from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.

We’ve had a fair few model kits and toys of this design over the years, even some walking and talking variants, but this is probably the first decent action figure thus far. In that, this is an affordable and excellently made toy of the classic Tachikoma. It’s just a pity it took this long for it to come along.

There are definitely pricier Tachikoma toys out there, but this is a surprisingly comprehensive set considering the price.

Firstly, the sculpt and detailing are spot-on to the host anime. This Robot Damashii release really captures the Tachikoma from the anime in a very accurate way.

Secondly, the articulation is very thorough. With each of the legs being sturdy enough to hold various action related poses and hold the larger weapon effects (though you get an extra stand to support the Tachikoma for these).

The gimmicks are extensive though, with effects parts and weapons galore. You also get the grappling wires seen in the anime.

Overall, this is a very nice and reasonably priced toy of the original Tachikoma design from Stand Alone Complex and is definitely worth picking up.
