i want to ask about a side cutter how shape it is? for 1 you can use for how many kits? how many type of it? from the start until now i never use 1 i only use the nail clipping. can anyone answer this? thank you!!!^^

    • A bit hard to understand some one what your saying, but i may have the gist of it.

By shape, I’m assuming you mean the shape of the cutting head. All side cutters have the angled side, which leads into the cutter edge. The other side can either be flat, or curved. Flat style cutters will let you get as close the piece as you can when removing…[Read more]

      • Sorry for my English, it is hard to understand right? But thank for understand. I start my hobby in gunpla for around 3 years ago and it is hard to buy the tools to use in my country because it didn’t have a gunpla shop in here, so I use some replacement for the original tools to use. Now I understand clearly about the important of the side cutter…[Read more]

    • There are many types of side cutters, which make it difficult to explain.
Some brands state the hardness of the blade, the higher the number, the harder the blades, the longer they stay sharp, therefor the longer the lifespan.
Other brands state how sharp the blade is, again, the higher the number, the sharper the blade. This will not give you the…[Read more]

So has anyone here used Tamiya Compound and know what to do with it and how to use it to it’s full potential? (´・Д・)」

    I know that it’s a polishing compound.

I read somewhere that you apply it to the spot that has been sanded and then afterwards you can use things like Gundam Markers on it.

    Any info is appreciated! (^人^)

    • It’s basically a rubbing compound, like those you would use on an actual car. Think of it as like a liquid sandpaper. It’s purpose is to remove marks on a surface, and leave it looking better then it previously was. This video should help you out.

Does it matter on what type of enamel brand I use for an airbrush? I have Testors right now but I’m not sure if that the recommend brand to air brushe gunpla?

    • i srsly dont recomend testor as it is the crappiest paint ive ever used in my life time of gundams it killed my panel lining it takes forever to dry and its not that cheap its a pretty small bottle and its a pretty small bottle of thinner too id recomend tamiya enamels or modelmaster but if u want u could use other different painted like laquer…[Read more]

      • Can you buy tamiya, Mr . color or model master at any hobby store? Or is online the only place where to get them here in the U.S.?

        • i think almost everyhobby shop out there sells tamiya paint mr color however im not too sure buecause mine does not becasse certain hobby shops dont sell em becasue they cant make money off it it really depends on location and wht they sell too but for the most part modelmaster tamiya humbrol vallejo aclad theyre usually well known in hobby shops

      • Just so you know, Model master is made by Testor.

If you’re going to use testors paints, Model master for your air brush, as its a bit of a different composition, and the standard testors for brushing. Testors paints aren’t bad at all, everyone just has their own preferences. However, don’t stick to one brand of paint, because all of them do…[Read more]

  • The more and more I look at the Blue Frame D, the less and less I like it and it’s concept. I may be a bit of an MG snob but I’m not really enthused by a blue frame with an aile pack on it and a whole bunch of blades, even those blades are what first caught my attention. Does it seem like Bandai kind of cheaped out on this guy buy just throwing…[Read more]

    • I’m not the biggest fan of the blades all over its body but when you combine them all I think it looks pretty awesome. Most of the Astray designs are based off of pre existing suits in the Manga (hence reusing Striker packs) so I can’t really blame Bandai for making it true to the manga.

    • Honestly, the bigger issue is that Bandai releases to many SEED MG kits to begin with. I understand wy they do it, considering that pretty much every Gundam in SEED is interchangeable with the exception of a few, thus they can keep production costs down, while releasing “new” kits.

They need to break away from SEED for a LONG time, and give some…[Read more]

      • FINALLY I DIND SOMEONE WITH SOME SENSE! Everyone praises SEED Sooooooo much *cough* Jesus Yamato thumpers *cough* I was having a discussion the other day about the Age-3 and FX. They were announced and mock-ups displayed, but then they died off. Even some of the Vagan suits deserved the MG treatment. I mean, yeah, Age was pretty bad serieswise,…[Read more]

      • I’d welcome a MG Grimore among others. However, since he seems to be so popular, we’ll probably end up with a Klim Nick version of the Space Jahannam. I’d also love some 00 love as well but the end of Unicorns and beginning of The Origin probably mean more UC suits, not that I’d turn down a MG Rozen Zulu.

    • I’m not a big fan of the Aile Pack on Blue Frame D. I feel like Bandai just want to come up with some new products without putting much effort into it. If they, at least, come up with a brand new backpack for Blue Frame D, then I might be interested.

    • I have to agree with all of you on this subject. I was a bit disappointed that after the MG Hi-Nu Ver.Ka. they’ve announced a variation on a suit that we have some others of as a “Big MG Release”. And to be honest, after building a PG Red Frame, a MG Red, Blue, Green, Gold or a Pink one for that matter doesn’t get me that want to build one.
      As for…[Read more]

    • I actually hate this model. My favorite model is the Blue frame but personally this makes it look stupid in my opinion…

      • While the blue frame 2nd isn’t my favorite, I do agree that its the better of the two. Here’s hoping for a better MG season in 2015

        • What i really want is an MG Kshatriya. Not a resin model… but ya… hoping then next year brings some awesome MGs.

          • Probably won’t get an MG Kshatriya, RE/100 is more likely given the RE/100 Nightingale. My personal desire is a Saviour if it wasn’t obvious 😛

this isn’t exaclty a gundam related question. but i was wondering if anyone knows if Gundam Markers will work on any LBX kits, or other kits in general.

So ive built about 13 mgs and one hg now ive decided its time for me to step up my modeling game and start spray painting my models starting from now so the next model i am buying is the hi nu gundam ver ka i have all the paint necessary but im now i have a few questions.
how many coats of paint do i need?
should i paint the parts whilst there…[Read more]

    • The amount of coats depends on the paints you use and the colour of the plastic. For example, white paint will only need about 2 coats on white plastic but if it were to be painted on blue it may need 3 to stop the blue coming through the white. As a rule of thumb keep applying thin coats until you’ve got a solid colour.

I like to paint pieces…[Read more]

    • I always spray the parts individually, when spraying on the runners, you’ll be left with gate marks, these can be touched up by using a brush, but will never the less leave indications on where the part was on the runner. Or you have to be willing to sand those area’s down, taking a lot of time, and if not careful sanding of paint on certain…[Read more]

  • Hey all, quick speculation question here. 2015 is the 20th anniversary for Wing and with the Tallgeese, Bandai was touting the “leo frame,” anyone else smelling a MG Leo in 2015?

    • Could very well be possible as the Tallgeese definitely has the option to display in Prototype form which is almost identical to the Leo, but it would be odd to have an MG grunt suit before an HG. It is still a mystery to me why they have never made a Leo kit before.

Though I would like to see them push out the other RG Wing kits next year which…[Read more]

    • I’m worried that if we do end up with RGs of the final form EW gundams we’ll miss out on them in MG.
They were showing off parts from the “MG V2 Buster” at the Gundam Breaker booth so that’d be a amazing MG for 2015 to go along with a very easily made Astray Turn Red and Jesta Cannon.

      • That is a worry of mine as well, I’ve been craving a MG Heavyarms Kai and Sandrock Kai since I built the standard versions but If they make them I’ll be a happy guy. One suit I’m secretly hoping for is the Serpent.

I am looking into getting a airbrush set up but need some help. I have never airbrushed before so I have no idea what to look for. I was told the badger renegade velocity was a good brush but I figured I would ask for some of your opinions.
I would also like to know what other items I should get along with a airbrush and compressor.

      • i dont mind spending a little more if it gets me a solid airbrush. I figured buying a more expensive one up front wouldnt hurt as long as I dont break it. I just want to make sure what im getting wont be to hard to use and will work properly lol. If the pack you linked works well for you then I may get it.

        • well its actually better if u start with something cheap. buying something expensive doesnt always mean its the best but starting out is always better to start small and get more experience and then go to the big guns using a cheap airbrush and a expensive airbrush itll be the same with how they operate and plus breaking an airbrush is really easy…[Read more]

          • alright yeah ill probably end up getting the one you recommended. I was just worried that it wouldnt spray as nice or something lol. Thanks for the help.

    • There is no reason not to buy a good airbrush right away. And mind you, expensive doesn’t always mean good. And breaking an airbrush….? There are two weak things on an airbrush and those are the needle and the nozzle. As long as you take care in not bending the needle or over torque the nozzle, you’ll be fine.
In buying an airbrush, the first…[Read more]

    • I’d suggest going with a single action airbrush first. a dual or double action airbrush is just an added complication you don’t need to be dealing with, though when you’re more comfortable with airbrushing then you may want to go get a double action it’ll give you better control of the paint and airflow. Other than that you definitely want to…[Read more]

      • I was thinking the same thing about the single action but I’m not sure I want to buy a airbrush and then buy another one within a few months or a year. Are double actions that much harder? I was told to get a double action. Also I can’t believe I didn’t think about the airbrush holder lol. That wouldn’t of been good. Thanks for the suggestion.

        • well double action theres alot more controlling u have to do and it take a while to get used to it it aint too bad but it takes some time to get used to single action theres no control over ur spraying its just like coming out of a spray can just normal air and u cant control how much paint u want on it

        • yes the holder is easy to overlook but if you start spraying and don’t have one it’ll get on your shopping list pretty fast lol.

the double action airbrushes give you more control over paint and airflow, which can be nice, but for just basic painting a single action is good enough. it’s up to you how you want to go about it. if you think you’re…[Read more]
