I am done! Entry submitted. Always wanted to have an EVA since I started with the plamo hobby and this contest gave me the chance to do it. I really enjoyed building and painting Shinji’s Eva-01. Good luck everybody, you guys sure set the bar very high!
Yes yes! Subtle is the key for me. The problem is that it only shows really good on certain angles so the pics dont actually show much of it. I’ll try to capture it once i put the Eva back together when all pieces are painted. I’ll be also trying to shade the black parts which i’ve never done before.
Finished my very first painted build. RG Char’s Z’Gok. Wanted to see how hard matching original colors was. Some paint left so i’m going use it on the MG Char’s Zaku II ver 2.0 next. Thanks to the guys here on this site who encouraged me to try painting!
That looks really really great!!!!!! Did you mix colors or did you find matching ones? Found myself that sometimes when mixing the colors via the manual, the can differ from what you see in the pictures, while other times they match perfectly. In the event you did use matching colors, what brand where they as they look very good! Looking forward…[Read more]
Awesome work, very clean. Do you think you’ll do a RG-style pain scheme on the MG Char’s Zaku II? The masking you do for those kinds of paint jobs is a great learning experience.
Teetee, i used liquitex basics acrylic paint. I got a set of 48 tubes. The pink and dark red for the legs, arms and skirt didnt need mixing but the salmon pink and the other shade of pink for the torso made me try a lot of combinations til i was able to match them. Pictures dont make it justice since i also tried some shading that it is hard to…[Read more]
Nick, working on it as i write this. I had made it look dirty when i first put together so now that im painting with original colors, im trying to shade it as well and add some other weathering hoping it’ll end up nice.
Got my box! Thanks HLJ. I’m very excited with this haul. Now that i’m all out with modeling again, I wanted to get kits from the other shows I like so I got an EVA and a couple of Zoids along with the gunpla I always wanted… the Sinanju.
I see you got the Sinanju too. Got that a few months back from HLJ. That such an awesome kit! Hope you have lots of fun building those kits! Please keep us updated on the progress of them.
Happy building!
teetee my friend! thanks! you’ve always been a great encourager with your comments when people post their work no matter what level they’re at. Very much appreciated.
that is awesome paintwork on the weapons! good stuff. how did u do that i always wanted to paint little details like that but i never figured out how to do it 🙂
Syd, your reviews and positive feedback on the Ver 2.0 Zakus helped me choose this kit. I’d really like to get a couple more of the other variants and have them displayed together! Also, you’ve made my day by commenting on my post! YAY.
Banshee13, the idea was to have some color separation to get rid of the boring gray all over the weapons. I hand painted the handles and sprayed the long tubes of the bazooka. Also, i just like to have some copper wherever i can on those weapons and I did this with a very fine brush.
The detail and paint you are putting into this zaku is awesome! I have on waiting to get built but I don’t think I will be able to get that look and detail like you have.
Hey Joe! thanks for the comment! Get encouraged man! it’s really easy to add some personal touch to these models so it doesnt end up being a straight out of the box build. Just put some bronze and silver to pistons or the little parts that are visible when you bend the legs and arms! The rifles usually get some love too, i just color all the…[Read more]
Yea definitely gonna try it haha, thinking I might give it a shot on my unicorn MG I am currently building, because you are definitely right, you have to add some personal touch so that they are your kit!
Great work!!!.
