Gunpla TV – Episode 89 – Photo Etched Tutorial – MG book – Aventador Competition

Ryan’s first attempt at photo-etched parts, Syd pondering a Gundam Aventador, and some MG Sinanju talk. All in this episode of Gunpla TV

We also announced a small competition where one lucky person can win the Aoshima 1/24 Lamborghini Aventador kit and 4 others can win a Epyon Gundam poster (The one behind Syd and Ryan on Gunpla.tv). All you need to do is grab this Aventador Line Art and color it in. Make sure you choose colors from your favorite Gundam kit and then submit it HERE (.jpg .jpeg .gif only). If the submission form does not work, you can post the line art on Hobbylink.tv Facebook .

The competition ends on Sunday October 21, 2012. Once we have all submission we will create a Facebook album where people can like their favorites. Keep in mind Ryan and Syd will have the final say on who wins.

Competition rules:

No digital manipulation, which means no photoshop or other image software. Pens, pencils, crayons, paints or any other natural method of applying a pigment to paper are fine.

Only one entry per person. We don’t want entry stacking.

If you don’t have a scanner you can use a camera, make sure the image is of good quality.

Master Grade The ISM of Gundam
1/144 HGUC GM Sniper II
Evangelion Mark.06

Gunpla TV host from the beginning, until 2017. You can keep up with his current gunpla projects at gaijin-gunpla.com.

  1. Do you guys know where is a good place to order part replacements for gunpla in the States?

  2. Mark – I had the same question before. Syd pointed me to Genteikits.com. They have a parts service.

  3. Aw, no Photoshop’ing? I guess that limits me down to going out to buy some colour pencils.

If only I knew how to colour with watercolour paints, now that would outshine my crummy pencil colouring 😛

Whats the image size we’re suppose to submit? Should I just scan at 300dpi and scale it down to say, 1000x#### ?

  4. Oh, Syd and Ryan,

I’ve edited your scan. It’s probably best to use a cleaner print out, use less ink and it looks neater overall.

  5. Hey Syd & Ryan, great show.

I have a question for Syd.

Do you think we’ll ever see a HG or MG Knight Gundam other than a SD or BB Senshi version?

I do know that the non-SD/BB Senshi version (for Gundam Musou 3) was designed by Hajime Katoki.

  6. Hey guys I have a question about the website. How up-to-date are you on upcoming kits? I mean how long from when there is an update on a kit, is it reflected on the site? Thanks

  7. Hi Syd & Ryan!

    Good job on this show.

I just want to clarify on the comment that SD was created to attract the girls.

I’m a woman and I got into Gundam NOT through the SD series, but through the Gundam Seed HG series. So, I just want to say that Gundam is not only a guys’ hobby, but also can be a hobby for girls.

I’m sure that there is a growing population of women and girls who are beginning to discover Gundam, and HobbyLink TV have been most helpful in spreading the knowledge and interest in Gundam.

    Thanks for reading my comment!

  8. Hey Syd,
I saw that you did some Real Touch weathering to one of your kits. Could you possibly do a tutorial on doing Real Touch weathering?
