For anyone that knows their toys, then T-Rex are a big deal in toy design circles. So when Sentinel announced its T-Rex collaboration toyline, much rejoicing ensued. Each of these toys is amazing, so much so that we are now getting reissues of earlier releases. The most notable of these are the Getter Robo toys, Getter 1 and Black Getter. As I already covered Getter 1 at its original release, it’s high time I did the same thing for Black Getter.

Black Getter is a heavily modified and customised Getter 1 from Getter Robo Armageddon. Rebuilt on the Moon by Ryoma Nagare it undergoes a color change on reentry to Earth, as all the red paint burns off.

The Getter Robo mecha are all pretty brutal in their approach but the Black Getter is especially savage. While much of that savagery can be assumed to be due to its pilot, Ryoma, its armaments are positively medieval in approach compared to the more humane Getter 1.

The Black Getter then is something of a fan favorite and it has received various toys over the years. While the recent Bandai release is decent, it’s these T-Rex renditions that are unlike anything else out there.

While the price point is a bit higher than the other Black Getter figures out there, this is arguably the definitive release and it maintains T-Rex’s ongoing reputation for designing thoroughly excellent mecha toys.

This is a truly great toy and fans of Getter Robo especially should keep an eye out for the review!
