1/144 EX-Exbein by Kotobukiya (Available From HobbyLink Japan – HLJ.com)
EX-Exbein is a very loaded mecha from the game 2nd Super Robot Wars Original Generation. Let’s take a look at the second generation! Let’s see how loaded the inside of the box is.
Cool cover art with a shooting pose and sparkles all around. Black Hole Buster Cannon? What a great name!
As for the size of the box, it’s similar to a larger HGUC like the Messala.
The side shows the price of 6800 JPY, which is relatively low amongst SRW kits. But still, you can get 20% off at HLJ.com!
Side of the box showing all the weapons used by EX-Exbein, like the Blackhole Buster Cannon, Strike Shield, T-link Saber and so on. This guy comes with kibble, and bits, that’s for sure.
When you crack open the box, a decent number of colors will pop out at you.
A nicely printed manual showing off a well-finished product.
The building process seems quite standard. May be in that Goldilocks zone for some builders.
Background information and official color guide appears in the middle of the manual.
Back of the manual shows him showing off his loot.
Plates shown in alphabetical order.
Some final thoughts. I think the Super Robot Wars OG series mechs look pretty good, and I think Kotobukiya has done a good job on previous kits of 1/144 scale in this line. As the new hero, EX-Exbein is both strong and popular in the game as you’d expect. Part of the reason is the variety of weapons, which will be seen all in this kit, and you can check out all the attacks in action thanks to youtube. As for the quality and mobility, my main concern is all his bits and how well they’ll stay on. How cool can it be when it’s all put together? Let’s find out in Part 2! Thanks for checking this out.
