Since our beloved site is down, I’ve got a question for you people: MG Gundam Origin Ver. or RG Gundam? Looking for the more fun build, more poseability, etc.
I would go with the MG Gundam Origin Ver.. Though, that’s only because I have a bias towards both MG’s and the design of the RX-78-02 Gundam from Gundam: The Origin.
Why RG? Why not MG RX-78-2 ver.3? Its mor fun than the RG, it’s bigger therefore it is more fun and durable to do many poses. As for MG Origin, don’t like it, overall design is just too plain for me, yes it has lots off gimmick weapons, but doesn’t work for me.
The 3.0 beats the origin version, eh? I only looked at the 3.0 briefly. They seem to be the same price, so maybe I’ll go for that instead. Is there a waterslide decal set for it?
Apart from backpack cannon, silly shoulder gatling gun, 3.0 beats the origin all the way to the bone. It has more armor detail, inner frame detail, articulation and the most critical of all, it has Core Fighter which is make it a Gundam. Nope, no water slide decal, both of them.
Don’t know really. I talked to Thwalker13 on Skype earlier, but he doesn’t seem to know. Normally when a blackout happens on our site, it’s up the site owners (in this case McGundam and GSaM) to hire someone to fix the problem. We used to have our own on-site technician, but he left a few years ago. So anyone know somebody who’s good at…[Read more]
Nice work with the G-Self. Gotta add some paint details to mine, otherwise it just doesn’t look quite “done.” There were some odd design decisions for sure, like the use of a big sticker on the top of the head.
Today’s dumb question: I’ve seen people separate out Gundam parts for painting/topcoating on the ends of sticks jammed into a foam block or similar material. So…what do you use to attach the parts to the other ends of the sticks without damaging them, but also not blocking any spray? (Tape’s out for that reason.)
As Linker said, I too use the Alligator Clips you get from Michaels for $4 for 12 (yo use that 50% off Coupon doe). I recently bought some Tacky but I have 36 Clips and tbh idk if I’ll ever need the Blu Tack 😐
For the record, I wasn’t recommending water slides. I was recommending staying with the clean look. WZC isn’t exactly a realistic design to begin with, and I think that decals just detract from its angelic design.
Lots of cool details, though finding a place to put this thing fully posed (with rifles and outspread wings) is going to be a a bitch. I still prefer the HG line, but that’s mainly because of price and a wider variety of suits. 🙂
Just saw this now. Great job on the kit. Clean as always and the Heero fig is painted up nicely. I vote for putting some decals on the main suit itself. Angelic or not, it’s still something built by humans so it should have one or two warning decals somewhere.
I’ve ordered from him 3 times and he’s very great to deal with lol. (Ordered the Nu Ver Ka Metal detail-up and waiting for it to come in) & I don’t even have the Kit yet lol. Message him on FB if he hasn’t responded to email but the guy is super legit.
He got back to me quickly this time. The last email must’ve just gotten lost. I’ve got a set of waterslide decals en route now; I’ll add ’em to the summer project pile!
Looking forward to them, man. To confirm, these are just standard or custom designed? Half of me is thinking you asked him to make decals with that warning about the ZERO System, haha.
Nah, I got his standard ones that are exact duplicates of those found in the kit, which is precisely what I wanted. (All of the other WZC decals I found on eBay, etc were slightly different.) There is a ZERO System decal in there, so I’m going to pretend that’s what the fine print says. 😉
Finished building the MG Wing Zero Custom…but unsure how to proceed with the decals. The kit came with foil ones (which I didn’t use, I painted instead), dry transfers (which I will definitely try), and clear stickers. It’s that last bit that gives me pause. How do they look when applied? I know waterslide decals are better, but the only…[Read more]
Depends on the clear stickers. Some, like those included with the RG line and the 2012 SEED MGs, look pretty good, others look pretty bad. Definitely make sure that you thoroughly was your hands before applying them; they attract any and all dirt/ink/plastic-shavings/etc. that they come into contact with. Honestly, I’d skip them on the WZC.
