Ouch! Could be the same problem as parts with that extra shiny finish that some Bandai kits have – the plastic used is very brittle and does what you describe. In that case, be very careful when assembling the kit, because even applying a little pressure (e.g. when popping a hip joint into place) may cause the parts to crack…
Yeah, I have been really boring out the snap fit sockets and slots for all parts now! Even trying to work carefully, I still managed to break two more pins. It’s indeed only two runners, and the completed thing is no more than 10 cm tall (too small to add polycaps). Furthermore, this is one of those snap-fit kits with parts that align badly, so mod #1 is removing the pegs where needed. Some parts are hollow on one side; those will be filled. Here’s what I’m going to build as my entry: the 1/100 Skallgunner from SPT Layzner. This is a early Bandai snap-fit kit with no polycaps, which will be build straight out of the box with some minor modifications and hand painted.
I must say some of the other entries look quite intimidating, so perhaps my final entry will be something else 🙂
