Would anyone happen to know what metallic paints could be used to achieve this finish? I have been researching and I seem to cannot find any concrete information on achieving…
seems like it’s basically chrome-silver/silver/aluminum for everything and coated with clear blue, clear yellow and clear red for the colored parts. i would say choose the silver/metal tone you like and how grainy the metallic pieces are for more sparkle (or less). you’ll find that some metallic paints have very fine flakes that becomes smooth and…[Read more]
To be honest, I think the white parts are coated with Tamiya Silver Leaf spray cans. Never used them, but all the pictures I see on the net shows that there are no visible metallic flakes in the paint, and to me the silvered white parts show no metallic flakes. Could be the resolution of my screen….
The blue seems to be the Tamiya Metallic Blue…[Read more]
I agree with the white silver parts. They’re smooth on the model with no visible flakes. It’s closer to the non-buffing Aluminum Metalizer I use from Testors. Grey parts like the round ones (condenser caps on knees, ankles, and thighs) do seem to have visible flakes however, just like the Tamiya Chrome Silver. The thrusters are painted with Alu…[Read more]
Hi guys. Just to be sure, you can’t put acrylic over enamel right? I have Mr Hobby Top coat gloss and an enamel chrom paint bottle. Despite the fact that the top coat is acrylic based, could I use it to coat my enamel chrome coat?
Yes, you can put an acrylic on top of an enamel. The enamel paint is the stronger of the two. But to make it a bit more confusing, you can even put an enamel on top of an acrylic. As long as the acrylic has been fully cured.
Good luck and happy building
Hey guys! I just recently joined the community, and this would be my first post. I have a question regarding Enamel paints, made by Testors. The ones that come in a 1/4…
Enamels are pretty tough once fully cured, so a lacquer on top would be no problem as long as you don’t spray the first layer on too thick.
Lacquers are the toughest of paints and dry and cure really fast.
You could also spray an acrylic based clear on top of the enamels. This may be useful when planning on doing a panel wash made out of enamel…[Read more]
I see. Thank you for the info! I’ll bear everything in mind. I’m definitely going to check out Lacquer, and Acrylic and try them out. As I’ve only ever used Enamel. I went and sub to his channel on YouTube. Thanks again for all the info, it was really helful!
Hello, I need some suggestions on a good portable and oiless airbrush compressor. I’m using a single action airbrush for my model kit painting. I believe it’s a Paasche that I’m using. I’m good at using it since I’m not in need of a dual action airbrush. I need an airbrush compressor that I can take with me if I were to travel and take my model…[Read more]
