Cockpit fun!
Okay, the seat is in and the controls are set to what I’m hoping to reflect on the control surfaces. Sorry about the poor pic quality 🙁 Now to lock all the detail away where it can’t be seen without a dental tool. Ha! View
That’s right, these are photo-etch. You can find sets of these for different scales/ time periods/ countries/ even army or navy. I prefer the ones that are made from brass more because they are easy to bend for a more natural look. Also there are paper ones that can be found sometimes.
Thanks I will go look for them, cos I am doing the Bandai, Star Wars 1/48 Snowspeeder, and am looking to add some details like seat belts in the seats.
I’m not a huge fan of Eduard’s new line of PE’s called self-adhersive which is a mess, IMO, cuz you’d still have to cut and sand every part. It sticks to tweezers & pliers. But sometimes there’s no alternative available.
There’s another kind of PE from China that’s ultra thin. Thinner than paper. Like for a warship. Way too easy to break. This is…[Read more]
Your best bet is to buy a generic 1/48 seatbelt PE sets cuz I don’t think there’s any Star Wars PE sets. Not popular enough. Most of the PEs are made for aircraft, tanks, vessels & cars.
You could detail the Snowspeeder with putty, tack-on (blue), masking tape as seatbelts, solder iron & electric wires.
I placed my order and it was “In stock” and now it went to “back ordered” in my open order. So I guess I just made it though. 😛 The order put another kit into “Low stock” too.
Much love to all he winners! My plane didn’t take me there but it was so much fun just taking part. At first I thought that posting the WIPs would be a chore, but it quickly became the most entertaining part of compeating. They show the work that goes into the build and I could see others’ progress too.
The competition lasted for 4 months since August 2013, so in that 4 months they should have receives tons of entries from all 3 categories…
Yeah I agree that waiting is the worst part, especially if you can’t wait to show your pics of what you have did at anywhere else. I’m not really hoping to win, more of learning experience for me lol 🙂
That was my mindset going into this. It was the 1st time building a kit under a deadline. And it was the 1st time using my new airbrush set up. So it was mostly a learning experience for me as well.
700+ people, overall to go over their final submissions, would be fun to look at, but picking 10 leading models for each group would be a nightmare.
This has been my best build to date, and then I learned about seam line removal after doing all the paint (although I’d have to learn how to mask everything that would need to be assembled to the…[Read more]
How do you make seat belts?

Remember – safety belts save lives! 😀
