Tons of tuts on youtube. Gundam.info posts videos on all these techniques from Fun to build gunpla featurettes. I just bought an airbrush because the rattle cans just cost too much. Currently I haven’t used it yet due to the space limitations in my house in Okinawa but once I leave country I’ll be looking to improve my customizing skills

    • Hi Erik.
Yes, i started on you tube from zero and now I have a complete airbrush setup and already painted some cheap/old models. I’m planning to paint my new MGs when I’ll feel more confident.
My only doubt is that I only found “basic” technique tutorials (basically pre shading) and I was wondering if different techniques exist… particularly on smallest model… do you paint a RG as you would paint a MG?

      • Some of the popular techniques for painting Gundam kits exist largely to give the kits a more dramatic look, to make the relatively simple designs look more complex… RGs don’t need that so much. Shading each paneel of a RG, for instance, would probably look kind of bad. Unless you kept it subtle… Basically RGs already look pretty intricate so just flat-shading each piece and getting the subtle color variations would probably look pretty good. It’s mainly simpler-looking kits that benefit from dramatic shading, so yeah I think RGs might call for a different approach.
