1/100 Frame Arms Versus Set by Kotobukiya – Available From HobbyLink Japan
Do you like Frame Arms? One at a time is not enough? Here’s what the Zelfikar and Hresvelgr=ater VS set unbox is going to give you!
The cover art kicks things off with some nice CG of both kits in the box. Hresvelgr=ater lines up here on the left, and Zelfikar on the right.
The box is much bigger than a regular Master Grade from Bandai! The price is 9800 JPY. Get 20% off at HLJ.com!
Here is Zelfikar, which can be turned into the lighter armored Baselard.
Hresvelgr=ater looks pretty unique. And that refers to the spelling of his name, too. He can transform into Sidewiner (Waverider) mode.
Cracking open the box, it’s quite a bit different from the other Frame Arms kits. Inside there are 2 separate boxes for each mech and a DVD as bonus item. No pre-built frames!
Here’s the DVD which showcases some of the storyline and a battle scene CG movie!
And also a brochure with some of the story setting, and some nice art.
And official color paint guide is included at the back.
Now to dive into the box of the transformable Hresvelgr=ater.
A big bulk of pearl white will jump out at you, which is quite different from the normal Frame Arms style.
The manual for this individual kit in included, along with a sheet that details how to build the currently unbuilt frame.
It doesn’t seem too complicated to build.
Here are the plates for Hresvelgr=Ater, which include the frame, then outer parts.
There are also 4 clear blue parts prepainted with iron silver. A very nice touch!
And a set of water slides wraps up the contents of the first box. On to the second!
Here’s what you’ll get with Zelfikar.
The plastic colors are a lot more normal with this one.
Manuals for the frame, expansion armor, and the main body.
This one seems like it will take a bit more time.
Zelfikar’s plates are mixed between the frame, main body, and armor.
Here are Zelfikar’s extended armament plates.
Some final thoughts. First, Kotobukiya is pretty clever putting these two kits together in the versus set. One of them can transform, and the other one has additional armor, so you get four options right off the hop. Plus they are some pleasant looking color variations. 9800 JPY might seem a little expensive, but these 2 kits and the set of expansion parts sold separately add up to 10200 JPY, so you’re saving a bit of money and getting the bonus of the DVD. Perhaps the savings come from the frame being unbuilt on the plates, which saves Kotobukiya some effort. Speaking of the frame, I actually like it unbuilt because hopefully it can be assembled a little bit more tightly, with fewer gate marks, and be a bit sturdier in the long run. I wonder how many other people would rather build their frames in a style more similar to Master Grade Gundams? This might be an interesting way for Kotobukiya to find out. For the colors, there are some nice looking plates in this unbox, so I’m excited to see how they look all put together. Stick around to see both mechs all put together in part 2! Thanks for checking this out.

I made the Hresvelgr=ater a few months ago. Love love love the design and the clear effect parts for the weapons, but man do the joints suck. Had to add glue to all of them just to give them some resistance.
