Hahaha, agreed, back as a kid, there weren’t no internet but mags and meeting at model shop to have chats. Well, lets hope you get motivation to finish a Gunpla mod! What helps is that one is working on 2 different kits or that you have a passion with the kit in general.

I got inspired for this and some other projects, by the Gundam RG Perfect Guide, Dengeki Hobby book. Whicj I highly recommend for images (only wish I could read the blasted thing, lol), just don’t expect paint!-
And more inspiration from making some really talented friends on hobbylink.tv, and the excellent work displayed here by all.

I thought about converting a RG Zaku II into a Gunner Zaku, didn’t know how to go about it so I opted a different gundam.

Normally with a conversion I look and see what I can kinda get away with not changing. Unfortunately, just the arms with this build.
Oddly I may not affix the calf armour to the frame, I may just leave it floot on the feet.
My issue is I get bored!! I do the hard parts, then can’t be bothered to finish the piece.

Yup, I’ve entered a 1/144 Geara Zulu from the Unicorn series. I don’t think I’ll win anything, mostly because there are so many other better modellers in the competition. I even saw the a awesome painted Warhammer fig, those miniatures are tiny and that modeller did a awesome job with it (Intermediate section). Also, in the same category, someone…[Read more]

Yep. But mine was just on the beginner level. I did a 1/100 MG MS-06R-1A Zaku II ver 1.0 all I did were detail with Gundam metallic markers. Some panel lining… I think I could have done some seam line removal… But I didn’t. Check out my pictures if you can. I really like the out come, but like you, I am not to sure of a victory in any placement.

AGH! Two of my MGs are turning off yellow! Must be that Humbrol Matt varnish! (WHY?!! 🙁 ) Gonna have to plan carefully what to do to get them white again. The thing is, I can just airbrush the whites back on, but the decals… oh the decals. What a dilema.

Like the 2.0 kit, MG Gundam 3.0 is incorporating the RG new colour seperation parts, latest MG LED light gimmick etc. The new developed toolings since the 2.0 release.
Also, giving a 3.0 treatment to a the MG Amazing Zaku would take away the (almost anime) styling consistency of the MG Build Strike and MG Build Gundam Mk-II.

While looking at me RG Char’s Zaku II and HGUC Zaku II production type and I can see what you mean about realistic vs anime.
I hope that if they make a 3.0 Zaku they find the balance between anime accurate and realistic like what they did on the PG Zaku II.
