Exhaust nozzle redone to satisfaction, weathered & installed. Airframe touch-up completed. All but landing gear, pylons and ordnance has been gloss coated and curing for 1 week. So no WIP on those, but on later parts.

Man that looks amazing, can’t wait to see it finished.

Weathering done. I applied a dark wash, followed by some chipping and painted some remaining details. Then I sealed everything with a matte varnish and finished it with some metallic dry-brushing.

Thanks! I put a lot of effort on it.
Really like how the armor plates turned out.

  • Details painted and everything coated with and acrylic gloss varnish.
After it had dried I carried on by placing a healthy amount of decals, next step is weathering!
  • Base color applied. Sadly I forgot to take photos of the pre-shading which was done after the primer, you can see its effect on the subtle differences on the tone of the color. Looking good!
  • And here comes the primer.
I use generic hardware white primer, easy to use and it leaves a great finish.

Done with the assembly of the kit. I want it to tell a story, I am going with the setup of “A T-90A on Syria”. As you know on the ongoing (and awful) conflict on Syria, almost all sides have resorted to up-armoring their AFVs, with most of these updates being done hastily on the field. With that in mind, and using as reference photos of modifications made to multiple AFVs during the conflict, I have created my own concept of how it would look like if a Russian State of the art MBT, the T-90A, underwent the same treatment. I hope the improvised and rather messy character of its components may help confer the vehicle a more humane and personal feeling and help express a little bit more closely something as crude and gruesome as it is battling on a civil war.

I have attached an extra machinegun on a welded support, made a big spaced armor plate covering the side armor not protected by ERA, placed some slat armor protecting the back of the turret and got a few track links and logs to work as extra armor. I was extra careful that none of the this modifications hindered any of the huge amount of sensors and other systems placed around the turret, as to keep everything functional.

In reply to: BNuts posted an update in the group Intermediate Modeler – Modeling Competition 2017 I was looking at the submission form for the final entry, and I encountered some problems with the photo end of things: Some of them are not within the 900-1200 min-max range (some are smaller), yet their filesizes are almost uniformly larger than the 450 KB maximum. How do I get them smaller? Also, I have more photos available than the form has slots. Can I submit more photos, or are they limited to what is shown? Does anyone know how to get around these issues? Are the photo requirements absolute, or can they be bent? Thank you in advance for your help. View

As far as I know you are limited to that amount of photos for your final entry.
As of the size of your photos, check if they are saved as .PNG, if so do as Alex up there said but save them as .JPG

    • I always save as JPG when I can. The resolution is as specified by default. I’ll try compression or scaling down further, although it seems there’s also a minimum size of 900 x 900.

I feel late and left out because I\'m doing Meng\'s 1/35 T72B3 with the Girls Und Panzer Der Film Countinuation School as the crew

    Looking forward for it!

  • Here is my entry, Revell’s 1/72 T-90A.
The latest development of the T-72 family, incorporating some nice active protection systems and following the Russian trend, a healthy amount of explosive reactive armor. The “A” version differs from the original version by having a welded turret.
I have some interesting plans for it, let’s see how it works out!

I was really happy when I found a rare TO-55 ACE kit at my local hobby store. I heard those are limited runs and I even got a discount on it. Oh god the flash, it\'s everywhere. And nothing seems to fit, or at least it requires 3 times the work to do so, and it\'s eating my Putty tube like it\'s fun! That said It looks really cool so of course I guess the effort will be worth it. Wish me luck!

1/72 Challenger I - First Armor / Test of Acrylic Only Painting Hey Hey! I\'ve been building snap together, non-painted (Gundam) models for a while and I have recently started branching out. I just got an airbrush and have started to add armor, aircraft and a few other interesting Sci-Fi models to the stash, all of which will require full painting. So I picked up this British Challenger Mk 1 kit as a test for some painting/weathering techniques using only acrylic paints. All my previous detailing/weathering was done with enamels and lacquers. Although this was a cheap kit for testing, it turned into quite an enjoyable build! The kit is the 1/72 scale from Trumpeter. Went together pretty well, only issue is the stowage basket hanging low and rubbing against the top of the hull. This was a test of the techniques in the Vallejo modeling video that\'s floating around. It was nice to use only acrylics and avoid using the organic solvent fumes. The weathering went easier than I thought, and the real trick is just to keep everything damn while you are blending and mixing. This time around I did all the weathering on top of a satin coat, as suggested in the videos. I\'m working on a JGSDF Type 10 right now as a test of the same basic techniques, but with the weathering on top of a coat of future. I actually think it will work better, but I\'ll find out soon. Critiques/comments very welcome. Cheers!

Looking really good! A beautiful tank.
Are you sure it’s Trumpeter? I swear I build the same kit but it was Revell’s.

My next project will the the French WWII battleship Richelieu. the model is from Trumpeter, and I\'ll add to it Flyhawk extensive PE set, and wooden deck. Starting the model by building the hull. to save time, and have a strong base for masking later on, I used a dark red spray can to paint the lower hull. First I glued it to the upper hull, and then masked the upper hull, and sprayed the lower hull in dark red. All the rotor shafts were also glued along with the rudder. The masking tape was then removed and I glued the wood deck. Although the deck has already glue fixed to it, I prefered adding superglue to make the bond stronger. thanks for watching, I hope you\'ll enjoy this blog :). Eyal.

Oh yeah, gonna give it a try. Thanks!
Working on a 1/700 HMS Duke of York, was worried about that big wooden deck it has.

Not really the case since you used an actual wooden deck, but do you have any tips for painting/simulating wood? Cheers.
