Hey all, I haven’t been building model kits for too long and I was thinking about stepping up my construction by getting rid of nub-marks completely. I have decided to get a hobby knife to do so but I’m confronted with a dilemma; what the heck is the difference between the “modeler’s knife” and “design knife”? and which is better for fixing nub-marks?
Here are the ones I’m choosing between:
    Design knife: http://www.hlj.com/product/TAM74020/Sup
    Modeler’s knife: http://www.hlj.com/product/TAM74040/Sup
Any help would be appreciated 😀

    • I read from here:
      http://gundamph.com/faqs/tamiya-modelers-knife-versus-design-knife/
He says they’re pretty much the same thing but the blades of the design kinfe are smaller, allowing for better control.
I actually just bought the design knife not realizing that there was a modeler’s knife

      • Thanks, this helps heaps. Looks like i’ll be adding a design knife to my PW for my late-August shipment 😀

        • No problem, i was actually in a similar position to you, iv’e just been using a box cutter this whole time haha needed to step up my game. Glad to help

    • Dude, whatever makes you cut those buggers off is a good thing, right? 😀 I’d buy the one with spare blades though as they go dull pretty fast. If you have a good set of side cutters you could just cut as close to the part and sand down the mark. That’s another way of doing it.

      • I already cut it down as much as I can with side cutters, but because of past experiences (year 11 design tech) I don’t really trust myself with sand-paper… I made my whole desk so smooth 😛
