This week HobbyLink Japan has its inventory which means all hands are busy preparing to count hundreds of boxes. Ryan and Syd managed to sneak into the studio to film some of the newest Gundam kit everyone’s talking about, the Tallgeese I EW as well as show some of the Iron Kong Ryan has been working on. And a Mecha related surprise as well!
Kits featured in this video:
– 1/72 Highend Master Model EZ-015 Iron Kong
– 1/100 MG Tallgeese I EW

Hi, Syd and Ryan
Long time viewer here, great show, and humor. Keep up the good work.
My question is for Syd, when you opened the head for the Tallgeese, it has a square silver foil sticker. The Leo has a square eye/camera and without the spartan plume, the head looks just like a Leo’s. Does this mean its highly likely that a MG Leo is in the works? Its not like Bandai has to make a lot of changes to make a Leo out of it since the Leo is based on the Tallgeese, so Bandai wouldn’t really have to make a lot of changes to the designs, maybe 1-2 plates?
Whats your opinion on this?

Hi, Syd and Ryan
Long time viewer here, great show, and humor. Keep up the good work.
My question is for Syd, when you opened the head for the Tallgeese, it has a square silver foil sticker, and also 2 slots for the face plate. The Leo’s head looks exactly like the Tallgeese’s head without the spartan plume, and its eye camera is also a square. It seems to me like Bandai is hinting at a Leo. So how likely do you think that Bandai is secretly cooking up a MG Leo, and Talgeese III….. EW?
Personally I’m still waiting on a MG Wing Zero TV, which I think is probably the only lead Gundam suit that hasn’t received a MG treatment.

Ryan and Syd do you think bandai will put out a model of the FA-78 Full Armor Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt? Heres a link to see what it looks like incase you have not seen it.

If you have not seen the manga I recommend you read it. I think its really good.

Happy Fatherhood Ryan!! Happy inventory Syd……cough. I have a question about the tallgeese. Does the MG come with water slide decals or is it the normal dry transfer that the other mg wing kits have been coming with. I am a fan of water slide after watching your show and was wondering if I will have to get some third party water slides or not?
Also have you ever tried to paint those tiny figures that come with the wing MG kits or any of the other MG kits. They sit in a bag un-painted on my shelve and I was wondering how they paint such tiny piece so well. Do you have any experiences you could share?

Hi Syd & Ryan. Cool episode! Syd, I hope you won’t mind me asking a question. Do you think BANDAI will ever release other suits in the 00 series as Master Grades? Up to this day, only Setsuna’s suits are available as MG’s. What do you think, Syd?
fezz
can you enlighten me in the difference between: custom zoids, highend, no grade/normal. and do all zoids only come in 1/72
Kager
@ Fezz
Custom Zoids like Geno Breaker Raven Custom, is pretty much the Anime version of the zoid, where the pilot has either some mods on existing zoids, or different color schemes.
Highend (HMM) is kotobukiya’s line of zoids, like master grade for gundam
No grade/normal I believe you mean the Tomy/Hasbro kits which are all motorized model its which is made of a lot of big pieces and some armor parts. Very little moveable parts, it’s just able to walk, hence motorized.

And sry about the double post, I thought there was something wrong with the browser since my post disappeared.

Yes, please do show Evangelion and Patlabor kits! 😀
And what about Macross?! Show that too! XD
Here’s a challenge for you both, paint a Space Marine in Gundam/mobile suit theme. It’ll be tiny for you both. I think it be a fun challenge and it would be funny to see your reactions.

Hi, Ryan and Syd…
Syd, have you seen the MG 1/100 OZ-00MS2 Tallgeese II? And is there any chance that it will show up at hlj.com as preoder? I REALLY DO WANT ONE… (TAKE MY MONEY!!)
Luke
Dear Syd & Ryan,
I am new to building gunpla, and really enjoy the show. The question i have is, I recently found a video where a builder used Gundam Real Touch markers for “post shading” style effects. Being that I don’t have an airbrush, this seems to be the method for me.
However, after using Real Touch markers, I couldn’t help but notice a similarity to other markers, such as Copic art markers. Is it possible to use Copic markers (and blenders) as opposed to Real Touch Markers, and do you know if these pigments are affected by harsh chemical Topcoats (such as Mr. Super Clean). Thanks for your help and keep up the great work.
Cheers,
Luke

Dear Syd & Ryan,
(Oops, i have another question) Over a year ago, you mentioned that top coating with a lacquer varnish was bad for acrylic paint. I was wondering if I laid down an acrylic gloss coat for decals (the brand I’m using is Mr Hobby Topcoat) if it was ok to finish with a lacquer flat coat, specifically Mr. Super Clear.
Thanks again for the great show.
Cheers,
Luke

Hey guys, do you know if you will be running the HLJ Sci-fi contest this year and if so, when?
Thomas
Hey guys, I’ve been watching since episode one, but was very busy recently and have been playing catch-up with your wonderful show.
I have two questions for you. First of all, why are you so awesome?
Secondly, I got way too excited over the Ver.Ka Nu Gundam’s hyper-articulated hands, but now it has come time to cut them off the runner and attach them to the model. However, some of the fingers are falling off, and won’t go back on. I had a similar probel with the RX-78-2 2.0’s core fighter wings, but at least they can be folded up so they don’t fall off. Hands and fingers are a whole different story. I’d rather not have a three-fingered Gundam. What can I do to fix this?
Keep up the great show, and hopefully your fingers don’t decide to fall off at random.

Hi, Ryan & Syd…
I’m new to the hobby and I just finished my first MG, the 1/100 MG OZ-00MS Tallgeese 1 EW Ver.
Sigh~ It took me 5 hours and 30 minutes just for the upper haft of the body, 6 hours for the rest. (sweat drop)
It look so cool after I finished it including the panel lines.
My question is, what will happen to the kit after I put the stickers and dry transfers on the kit and then spray some top coat, will it ruin the stickers?
