Hoping for a speedy response to this question if possible because im really anxious to try my hand at water slides. i put a layer of clear acrylic gloss on the shoulder piece but im wondering if i need another coat or not. its very shiny but does not feel smooth and im worried that i might get silvering. let me know what you folks think
    • well I’m nota pro at waterslides but that doesn’t look smooth even in the photo so you probably should give it another coat at the very least, but really I’d think you’d probably want to do a bit of sanding too. as for whether or not it’ll give silvering, maybe you should use some of that mark softer stuff if you’re worried.

    • You should be Fine as long as you used some kind of gloss. It’s the type of coating that matters, not the state of the surface. I use “hammered” paints(they’re spray paints that create textured surfaces) a lot for different things, and I can actually apply water slides on that no problem without a high gloss coat(I prefer to use semi gloss). Just be sure that your gloss coat covers completely and you should be fine.
