Honestly I think that the phenex is quite a nice release. It offers something a bit different (and shiny) to the table than just a modified gun and bigger shield.

If anything I think that the best thing Bandai could do would be to give us an expansion set like the universe booster or the core booster set as all that really changes is the pilot miniature, beam Magnum, shield and backpack. Then they could even sell it in a set with ‘HD colors’ (glossy black and hguc norn dm amber) like the unicorn + MS cage.

This said, I’m still really pissed with Bandai for making this a P-Bandai.

I agree with Nick A “universe” type booster/ Norn pack would be great, sell for 2000 yen or so, nice cheap add-on. The whole P-Bandai is just a bit silly for international gunpla fans. At least there are sites to grab them. but yeah, I don’t understand why cannot make the Norn a retail release.

I waited on getting the banshee because i figured the Norn would be the retail release, lo and behold it’s the insanely over priced Phenex. Why bandai did what they did, we’ll honestly never know but i do feel the norn should’ve been the retail release, making it online only seemed like a slap in the face to international gunpla builders.

I’m actually happy they made it an exclusive. It’s not geared towards beginners anyway, so people who purchase it should be painting and detailing the kit.
