first off, time depends on what your using. So read your labels. Most products should state dry time, cure time & in case of non arasol paints it’s type.

Acrylics dry/cure the fastest, Laquers the slowest, while laquers are the hardiest (resistance to damage ie scratches) with acrylics the weakest.

your paint conditions will also affect dry/cure time. tempature and humidity can totally mess it up. ideally you want to be painting in the mid 70’s f with humidity under 80%, then your paint should react and behave as designed.

rough ballpark dry/cure for each type of paint imho are (presuming thin layers)
Acrylics: 10-15min/12hrs
enamal: 2hrs/24hrs
laquers: 2-6hrs/3-7days
