Master Grade Discussion 6 years, 11 months ago Hi I am new to the hobby.
Started with HG Qant, Grimgerde, and then the Barbatos w/ Long Range Transport Kit.
Was eyeing and hoping to start with the MG Kits Astray Red Frame Kai and Blue 2nd Revised/or maybe Blue Frame D.
Will the kit out of the box be good enough for display,with just decals and top coat? I plan on painting it but not custom paint it, just make the reds/blues metalic and such.
Just want to hear your thoughts.

All the MG Astrays look great out of the box, they have minimal foil seals but plenty of great dry transfer and sticker decals.
That said, metallic paints are always a cool step up with the Astrays, though if you aren’t feeling up to it for whatever reason they’ll look great just top coated and decalled.

If you are okay with the smaller size, RG line looks great right out of the box.
Do you guys have any sample photos of what a kit looks like with just a top coat of clear flat?

Wow. The one with the top coat really looks a lot better than the other one. I will do this in one of my kits.
