1/100 Z A03 TYPE-K Z Knight by Kotobukiya (Available From HobbyLink Japan – HLJ.com)
The Z A03 Type-K is the workhorse mecha from the old school Z-Knight series. Let’s see how it is in its new 1/100 scale from Kotobukiya!
Cool cover art with a nice battleground scene. You may notice the familiar HMM in the top corner, nicely showing the connection with Zoids.
The box is smaller than a regular Master Grade.
The side art has the same pose but with a clean white background, where you can see the price of 6500 JPY. Don’t forget you can get 20% off at HLJ.com!
Some gimmicks are shown on the side of the box, like an opening cockpit hatch and Metal Heart.
When you crack open the box, it’s actually more colorful than I expected.
The manual reminds me of Master Grade and Armored Core lines. Very sharp art!
The first page of the manual kicks things off with a comic.
And upon quick inspection, the building process seems a bit more complicated than most kits of this size.
The nice looking color guide is in the back as usual.

Some final thoughts. I was quite surprised when I heard the news about this kit, as I didn’t know very much about this series going in, as the originals are fairly old. However, it seems that the quality is quite promising, and as it’s a spinoff of Zoids, I’m encouraged. However, 6500 JPY for such a small box may scare some people away. But because it’s Kotobukiya, and Zoids, I think it should be fun to build and display. So how about the overall quality, mobility and details? Stick around, let’s find out more!
