i did some tests before continuing painting. the spoon on the left was painted with alclad II chrome and tamiya clear red, the spoon on the right was painted with testors silver and tamiya clear red. i didnt expect such a huge difference.
He didnt use Tamiya silver. he used testor silver. and i dissagree with your statment. i did a candy coated Marasai in red and blue using Tamayia silver leaf and it came out amazing. especially if you use a gloss black enamel then, the silver, then the clear color
got some painting done this weekend, hopefully i can do some more painting tomorrow. i also did some wet sanding with 2500 grit to get the surface as smooth as possible to the next layer of paint.
sadly ya, as much as i like tamiya’s silver, it’s just not suited for a base for a candy technique

yup, actually i ment to say testors not tamiya silver. my bad. and ya if applied over a good gloss black then tamiya silver leaf works good.
no worries. yeah i have used that method a lot. i love how it pops and shines when it is done
The left was very better! It’s possible to see the diference.
