Hi all, i just started on this hobby (just finished my 6th kit). can somebody tell me is there the best way the apply the eye sticker on gundam’s head(especially those tiny ones on the real grade) . For me the head part is the soul of gundam kit. it’s always frustrated me when i cant properly aligned the eye sticker on the head it really ruined the whole aesthetic of the kit.

    • Welcome to the hobby! Hope you’ll enjoy it as much as i do.
Myself, I use the hobbyknife”s point to peal off the sticker, insuring the blunt side of the knife is facing up, so I don’t cut in the actual sticker itself. I make sure the knife is placed on the long side of the sticker and as most in the middle of this side as possible. The knife is preferably not even half the size of the high side of the sticker underneath it, hope this makes a little sense….
By doing the latter part, you can stick the sticker on the piece at an angle, only making contact with the sticky side above the knife. In most cases the sticker wants to curl up, away from the sticky side. So by lacing the sticker at an angle to the piece, only a small section of the sticker actually sticks to the piece. As this has some friction, but not impossible to move, you can rotate, shift left to right, up and down until you reached the desired position. I hold the knife between my thump and middle finger at this stage, so I can put my index finger on the sticker to hold it in place as I pull the knife from under the sticker. My other hand is used to hold the part as laying the part down will cause the part to move.
I hope this all makes sense as it is hard to explain a process that is done a million times, but never described, LOL.
To make a suggestion, paint the eyes. This is fairly simple as there are a few techniques that can be used. If you consider this as an option and want to know the different techniques and paints to use, please get back to me and I’ll write them down, as this is getting a bit to long as it is, I’m guessing and I don”t want to overflow you with information.
      Good luck and happy building!

      • Hi @teetee580, thanks alot for your detailed and informative tips, much appreciated. As i always line up my stricker from the side way of the eyes part of the kit and hope for the best, yours techniques makes more sense and minimize the chance of ruining the eye sticker.
I had no idea you can paint the eyes, especially on the 1/144 scale kit, it must be tricky. Yes ,i would like to know the way the paint the eyes. Does it have better result than using the eyes sticker? Looking forward for your further feedback (if you don’t mind can you up load the picture of your kit with painted eye, i am very interested to see them).
