yeah, i know it is. i’m on my fourth try currently. Just finished episode 22. What my problem with it is just how formulaic it is. i mean, that does seem quite arbitrary, considering it is Gundam here we’re talking about. • Haha! You know what’s funny? I was thinking that exact same thing – Lalah Sune and Yuri. For me, the turning point was the end of Asemu’s arc and into Kio’s arc.

I will admit that it’s really, REALLY hard to appreciate it with the first few tries.

that is the truly truthful truth there, in text for all to see. Universal century is definitely my favourite of the multi-verses, although i’m still open to the others. except AGE. seriously. why, sunrise? WHY? Still, I digress. Yes, UC certainly brings a level of realism to the table that you don’t see in alot of other gundam series.

    • You’d be surprised about AGE. It took me five tries to get past the first few episodes, but the story’s actually pretty deep. I’d even argue that it’s better than SEED’s story line.

    Good lord, that’s extortion! 🙁

    • Agreed! You can buy two HG kits and three and a half MG kits for that money and have it delivered to you.

    Hmm, I meant ‘playing’.

    • I’ll be honest: I’m a huge fan of the UC, more so than most other lines because of the reality it brings. The stories are richer (well, so is the amount of OVAs to go along with it), and realistic colors just add something extra to the table. 🙂

Haha, you flatter me. But, Winning a prize is plying second fiddle here. I just want to complete a good looking kit, with a little homage to one of Universal Century’s more well known MS teams. I certainly hope i don’t disappoint.

Although winning a prize would be nice 🙂

Also, Tamiya’s reliability only shows through with their spray paint range, their acrylic brush paint range is sketchy at best, I find.

Honestly, I couldn’t say as I have never had any experience with testors. However , i do find tamiya to be a reliable brand of paint in my experience. So, honestly i would leave it to your own judgement.

actually, I’m waiting for a shipment of MS builders parts to arrive from HLJ, which i will be incorporating into the build. I spray painted the 2 shades of Green, using Humbrol 163 Dark green and Tamiya AS-44 USAF olive green. the rest was hand painted with a multitude of Vallejo acrylics. And thanks! 🙂

    • Very nice! Would you recommend just going with Tamiya paints then? It’s been a while since I’ve touched them, and I’ve been using the Testor brand ones recently.

that’s certainly fair. good thing my decal sheet is officially produced by bandai then. 🙂

    • Mine won’t use these. 😀 Custom printed decals are sort of a final touch thing and I like to look at them the same way I look at paint. You can print your own on a printer at home. If that wouldn’t be permitted then I think there would be a rule using only Mr-Hobby paints or something like that. And that won’t happen.

      • What kind of ink would be needed for such a thing? Interested now that you brought it up, but not for this competition. Some custom decals would be nice for my older kits.

        • From what I’ve seen, some use more or less regular standard inkjet printer with a bit higher resolution. In other words, good inkjets. All you’d need is a sheet of waterslide decal and you’re set. However, I have never tried this myself and probably never will as samueldecal does a good job at it for 5-10$ + some 2 more for shipping and they’re…[Read more]

          • I might just wait until I can eventually afford to buy a 3D printer at the same time. Scratch building’s a pain for me, so I’ll be patient until the day that the $300 printers are actually up to par with commercial ones.

            • That would be a dream come true… And the day HLJ will go out of work for sure. 2 years after that they’re going to sell kits on a USB stick. “Sinanju 3.0! Download now!”

              • That’s my only fear with 3D printers. I wouldn’t want to put businesses like HLJ out of a job, especially since there’s just a special magic when going into a hobby store.

As a side note, I’d probably only use a 3D printer for custom parts and a 1/100 Bertigo. Bandai, why do you hate Gundam X so much? D:

                • They hated SEED too! It took them 10 years to “MGnize” other SEED kits, other than the Strike and Freedom. About HLJ going out of business, it won’t happen. And a lot smaller too. 🙂 Ofcourse, not everyone will have a 3D printer at home so standard plastic model building won’t die for a bit longer.…[Read more]

  • Well, time for another WIP update. First off, here is the Decal sheet i will use if it is permitted, I would appreciate some definitive clarity on whether partially used decal sheets are acceptable or not, as the rules seem to state that partially completed model kits are not, so curious as to whether this rule also applies to decal sheets as…[Read more]
