You can use lacquer top coat on acrylic paint but there is a trick to it. You have to do a very light mist coats 3 times before you put it on normal coat. Dont go to heavy on the last coat. Does the panel wash technique still works? I mean with so many layers of primer,paint, top coat? does even the panel line still there? I fear that with so many layers the panel line actually vanish. That why I been thinking using lacquer as base. Since im in a tropical country, I doesn’t really need a fast dry paint.
With Gundam kits, you could dip the thing in chocolate and you’d still have panel lines. 🙂 (Panel lines on most Bandai kits are MASSIVE.)
But more generally, yes, panel lines will still exist after multiple layers of paint as long as you don’t lay it on too thick.

How about Enamel wash over lacquer paint? if this work, I don’t really need to do coating on the acrylic paint, which will save cost.
