Finished the rust. Used valejo ligh rust and tamiya brown for the effect. Now getting ready to airbrush it with hair spray (to create chipping effect). Sorry for the low quality pictures but you can see the texture of the pieces. Verniers on the arms and the back were replaced with metal ones (if you guys need it in greater numbers and dont want to pay a lot for them. Just get a precision socket and remove the metal parts from it – perfect verniers).Some update on the texturing technique. Its better for a piece to set for few hours before painting. Also although the fumes arent as toxic as lacquer paint be sure to do it in a well ventilated room. Also some sanding afterwards can improve the overall result.

I wish I had the facilities to do this kind of stuff to my Gunpla, but I can barely hand paint as I am now so ootb builds with panel lining is what I do.
The first big blunder on the kit… Run out of masking tape and since its weekend and hobby shops are closed i decided to try doing the missile bay (chest area) by hand without masking…. Oh well it could have gone worse… Ill focus on outer armor now since it doesnt need masking. Possible will have to redo the chest area later. Sadly used a enamel paint. That will be another 4h down the drain waiting for the paint to dry before the first clear coat.
The plan is 1st clear coat -> hair spray coat -> pre shading -> main color -> make rust come out on some places -> 2nd clear coat -> maybe? (try doing wash – never did it before so why not) -> top coat.
