We just added a “like” button, I was torn on whether to add the button or not. I prefer people to comment and give opinions, but sometimes you just want to like something. I’d be interested to hear your thoughts?

    • I like the “like” button. 🙂

    • @Ryan Yea, while I agree with you that comments are more useful (and fun to read), sometimes you just want to “like” a post. Old habits die hard.

    • can i “dislike” the like button? this is why i hate Facebook. i don’t find the like button very social. i know a lot of people find it convenient but i think it moves us away from true communication and down a path of one button mashing monkeys. comments create friendships and dialogue, the like buttons just becomes a faceless number.

      • I hear ya there – and one of the reasons sites like Facebook or Youtube have this feature is because it yields very easily quantifiable data.
But on the other hand, there are times when I think it’s genuinely useful – when I want to say “I like this” – but don’t have anything else to say worth saying. It lets me show my support without writing a “me too” kind of post.
